In New York Disaster (my personal favorite), after you pass under the Parking Entrance sign (20:00 or so) keep your eyes peeled left. You’ll spot a couple of checkered flag pillars. Turn left and go between them. You’ll cut through a flooded hotel lobby as a shortcut, and grab a little extra boost inside.
I used to play this at The Kentucky Arcade on Avenue of Champions in Lexington KY. I bought a PS2 just to play this. The cockpit arcade unit had deep bass. 24:25 -- Eye of Providence ("YOU FOUND A SECRET!")
I love this game so much, I ended up buying the real arcade. That subwoofer in the seat makes it much more realistic. I’ve since repaired the monitor and moved into my backyard arcade with air conditioning lol.

@@RGBtheRhinoOverwatcher if I had to guess, I’d say the Xbox. The Xbox and the arcade hardware are very similar. They both had Intel Pentium III 733mhz processors. The arcade had twice as much RAM though.
I've figured that out since this video, but thanks! I just got my full sized Hydro Thunder working again so I'll probably do some more gameplay videos on it soon!
@@KillerArcadeGames The Dreamcast port of Hydro Thunder was being inferior to the arcade original than the PC version because of the missing lighting/shading on the floating checkpoints and waterfalls as well as messed up shading/textures (the boost flame when not boosting are grey/red instead of blue), and the lack of the red wrong way arrow (exist in the June 16, 1999 prototype).

Great game, I bought 3 original cabinets last year that I linked together. Probably my favorite racing game ever. As a kid I always played it on dreamcast, but yeah it's hard to beat the arcade version with its feedback.
I'm always looking for one of the real cabinets in my area! Having 3 must be really nice! There's one not too far away but its $900 and I still can't fit it in the house. I'm holding out hope that I'll find a great deal and can just store it somewhere until I have room.
@@KillerArcadeGames Oh yeah it's a ton of fun when you have a group of friends over racing. I'd recommend you check out some arcade auctions I've picked up a lot of my cabinets that way. Two of the Hydro Thunders I got for $800 combined that way.
What a deal! I think the best I’ve seen recently was $600 but the seller wouldn’t reply. I’m definitely planning to check out the next auction. COVID has made that difficult but they do them virtually now too. I haven’t been too aggressive since I really have no space. I have been thinking of buying a cabinet I have some interest in, refurbish it a bit and sell it. It would be a fun project for the channel too.

Got to correct you on an error. The bonus boats WERE available in the arcade version. You just had to highlight a certain boat, press the Pilot view button quickly three times and ding! It’d pop up. Thresher -> Armed Response Tidal Blade -> Tinytanic Rad Hazard -> Blowfish Razorback -> Chumdinger

Emulation is a decent alternative but nothing beats the feel of the cabinet, that CRT monitor and the force feedback in the wheel is awesome. Oh and the subwoofer in the seat adds to the experience.

I grew up playing this game for lost island before you pass the triple battle theres a cave to your left but omg dude I gotta know how did you get the pc vershion
I found some of those lost island secrets after making this! The PC version can be found really easily on google. It’s a quick install too. I can’t link it of course 😔.
The best option would be this cable: amzn.to/35cKf1e there’s two display ports on the back of the HP. They look like odd HDMI outputs. Plug the display port side into the PC then plug the HDMI into your TV and it will work just like HDMI. It even sends the audio with the video like HDMI does.
I still prefer the arcade. After going between the two versions, I see the arcade looks much better. I think the home version has those boats to unlock instead of them being secret.

For lost island, after you come out of the 1st shortcut, almost immediatley go left on land and boost for the 2nd shortcut

I'm not sure honestly. I just booted it up and it looks like that. I don't think its 1080p but it does look pretty good.

You have to get first place on all tracks to unlock more of them. Its really tough on some of them.

I went back and spent some time exploring the levels and found some new ones. But yeah, I know a few levels pretty well but not all of them.
Funny how the home version of this is superior to the arcade version. Too bad the home version doesn't have the secret boats.
