Free fall through Our midnight Floating through This madness Drfting through Sound the dread alarm Through the primal body Sound the reveille Stay the grand finale Sound the dread alarm Through the primal body ? ... to me (Sounds I hear--Chu me over to me) Stay the grand finale Sound the dread alarm (sound like he messes up and starts saying "Stay the grand finale" before correcting) Wake us from our slumber Sound the reveille Call us all to arms and order One drive, rise to stay alive.
@@aVeryStonedApe Very nice! I still clearly hear an "M" in that last word but this at least makes sense. I am trying to edit my post but it is not working at the moment.
"To be or not to be" reminds me of the Easter "egg" analogy Maynard mentioned of Easter on his Puscifer channel, but it's interesting if you spin a pyramid rapidly; you see a cone, you spin it faster you see the egg. I'm assuming he said: "Why try not to stay alive", meaning TOOL might stay intact of making another album. But that's my assumption.
Just once. Just ONE TIME…. I need to see Tool live. Been hanging on every song since the early 90’s but I’ve never been to a show. What a fuckin crime. Absolute masters…all of them. To have FOUR individual geniuses…both technically and creatively… able to collaborate at all is a frigging miracle. No wonder Maynard says every mix is a fight to the death. They are simply unmatched. They have no equal
Same as you I have been a fan since the 90s and finally saw them live in 2023, and soon again in 2024, just 3 days before this show. Absolutely incredible! And very loud, lol will can’t wait to see them again in the future. Hopefully at the Sphere in Vegas!
Saw them in Austin a few weeks back. There were many, many high points, but Descending was probably the most thrilling live performance of my entire life. Exquisite.
I saw them in Spokane in mid October then again in Vegas a week ago. Both times they played Descending and it's my favorite song so I was really happy. But the crowd didn't cheer like I expected them to. I think people don't quite understand the full meaning of the song.
Interesting. I saw them on Halloween, and I truly hate to admit that Descending was the only song of the set that I felt was lackluster. And it’s my favorite song. My fiancé even noticed the same thing and she is not into Tool.
@dirtbagian same here man I kinda thought that was a filler song for the set. Gives Maynard some time to relax. But after seeing them play it 3 times, it's definitely grown on me and is a killer Song to hear live
God bless you, sir. As much as I agree with the no-cell-phone policy, this was worth the perpetration. I was at both nights in Phoenix. He sang the extended lyrics the second night in Phoenix. Some dude recorded it, but the recording was shit. Thank you! Great video and sound quality! Both epic, and dope! You are a gentleman and a scholar! 7:39
It's always a treat seeing tool. You know you're getting actual musicians playing actual instruments with no backing tracks or vocal backing tracks. Everything is genuine
I like to think he's saying "Sound Assembly Calling all to Arms and Order" but i also thought the first time they played this song before release he spoke the lyrics as. "He did it All to walk on water" the majesty of sound 😅
Absolutely love this song and loved hearing it live a couple times. Maybe I just got used to the original version because I find the extended lyrics to be distracting.
You know what, I agree with that. Maybe, like u said, it's because we've listened to the original alot, but I felt like that spot should definitely be quiet just for the music.
@franciscosaldivar9737 IDK they also ended with Stinkfist but didn't play the Extended Stinkfist version I heard in the last 3 shows I went to. Guess they just want to mix it up. (If you haven't heard the Extended Stinkfist, check out the 2019 video from Connecticut)
@dangusrangus they probably got bored since these were the last 2 shows they did. And if I'm not mistaken, Maynard said thats a wrap for the US fear Inoculum tour after 5 years so maybe they're taking it off the setlist
I like the bit when he keeps reciting the one chorus but the part before the symbol smash interferes with Danny doing exactly that, so in a perfect world that’d be the only bit I dropped. That said, saw them in Manchester and it was chilling hearing these vocals, epic.
Free fall through
Our midnight
Floating through

Drfting through
Sound the dread alarm

Wake us from our slumber
Sound the reveille
Call us all to arms and order
One drive, rise to stay alive.
Excellent job mate. I'd say those should be the official lyrics lol even with the wording we can't make out
He says to be or not to be at the unintelligible part

Thank you
Jeeeeeesus! I hope they make a studio track of this one.
Don’t count on that. Best bet is if they ever release all of this Live footage they’ve been getting over the years.
Or maybe a live album just like Salival! That's more likely
No band tugs at my heart and soul more than Tool. This version kicks ass.
Goosebumps and tears.... this is GORGEOUS.
Glad you enjoyed 😊
Lyrics are relevant to the world around us - as always!
🤔
Holy shit!!! I hope they do a studio version of this Descending. Those added lyrics made an incredible song even more amazing. 🤯

You couldnt be more right. To feel the culmination of all of that is to see them live. There isnt an experience like it. You absolutely must see them!
I've seen them 3 times since 2020 and this is by far the best show of all three. They age like fine wine 🍷
Make it happen. Their show is life altering.

Do your self a favour get to one!!
Thank you for recording this gem! * small info that is not yet on TDP * They performed this in LDN 2024. Once again thank u for this.
This was the best Tool show i've ever been to/heard. The guys are always on point, but Maynard was just exceptional.
I agree! this guy is old and still sings so damn well.
Saw them in Austin a few weeks back. There were many, many high points, but Descending was probably the most thrilling live performance of my entire life. Exquisite.
It's definitely a great performance.

This song is a masterpiece.

❤❤ Amazing
Was there on 2/15 crypto arena, amazing show! Loved this extended version of Descending.
Amazing show for sure
Omg this just opens up another fantastic doorway ,Holy Shit ❤🎉

Thank you sir 🫡. I pride myself in being able to bring concerts to those that cannot attend or want to re live that moment. Cheers my friend
They never disappoint live . 4 of the most unique musicians found each other and it was glorious.
It's always a treat seeing tool. You know you're getting actual musicians playing actual instruments with no backing tracks or vocal backing tracks. Everything is genuine
Knoxville and Atlanta...both were mind blowing.
Yes I saw them one time in 2020 once in 2022 and this one was by far the best show
I was at the Charlotte show and it was incredible. Just mind blowing!! 🤯🤯🤯
I like to think he's saying
"Sound Assembly
Calling all to Arms and Order"
but i also thought the first time they played this song before release he spoke the lyrics as.
"He did it
All to walk on water"
the majesty of sound 😅

The mist of Sthin...too far , tooo... i was there.
Literal goosebumps at 10:37…every time
How has this only had 8.5k views…this makes me sad

Good catch😳🥹🤯😍
Thank you glad you enjoyed it 😎
Ok time to re-record the studio
I mean they did it with Opiate² lol I don't see why they wouldn't with this one
Interesting 🤔 Heard it live in OKC just a few days before, and they did not do it.
I wonder why they didn't add the extra verse in there
@franciscosaldivar9737 IDK they also ended with Stinkfist but didn't play the Extended Stinkfist version I heard in the last 3 shows I went to. Guess they just want to mix it up. (If you haven't heard the Extended Stinkfist, check out the 2019 video from Connecticut)
They didn't do this in Charlotte either. I think they reward good crowds with it
@dangusrangus they probably got bored since these were the last 2 shows they did. And if I'm not mistaken, Maynard said thats a wrap for the US fear Inoculum tour after 5 years so maybe they're taking it off the setlist
They played it in Vegas on the 18th of February. That was their last show. But they didn't do the extended version in Vegas or in Spokane on Oct. 15.
Challenging song to perform all around I reckon
I would assume so
Feel bad for Maynard. He could take a nap on the 2nd half
WHERES THE EXTENDED LYRICS
Within the video
Any lyric after the 6:05 mark. It’s usually all instrumental and Maynard disappears from the stage.
@franciscosaldivar9737
I mean the written words so i know what hes saying
@@mcannon7097 ahhh gotcha sorry. I'm not sure someone should eventually post them
10:36
And that is power
I like it better without the vocals. It’s more meditative
I personally like it without the extra lyrics as well but I'm open to new renditions.
Good to know
I like the bit when he keeps reciting the one chorus but the part before the symbol smash interferes with Danny doing exactly that, so in a perfect world that’d be the only bit I dropped. That said, saw them in Manchester and it was chilling hearing these vocals, epic.
@@Cundy344 I think it's perfect in an operatic sense. It's a climax after all. Voice and gong emphasize each other, instead of being antagonists.
