I was just trying to find recipes that use the spice sumac and I ended up here. Not complaining though because I really liked Oceanic by ISIS way back in the day.
I greatly enjoy extremely fast bands in the vein of thrash, grindcore, slamming, brutal death, deathgrind and war metal but from time to time I return to listening to slow heavy and monolithic pieces like the works of SUMAC, simply a wall of heavy sound like f*ck it to give yourself some f*cking bumps.
Aaron sure has chilled out over the years. When I saw ISIS, he knelt down to scream at a kid who was taking photos of the set, and I saw security grab another person's camera.
When I'm asked "What kind of music do you like?" I'm always hesitant to try to describe something like this. I usually say something like "Orgy in an earthquake" or "Falling into a volcano while eating a tasty sandwich" or "Imagine if you were gasoline being dumped into an old pick up truck about ready to fire for the first time in 50 years". Even then I feel like I'm not describing it well enough. I usually just say, you wouldn't like it anyway. I often think of myself as the old man in beginning of The Never ending Story trying to deter Sabastian away from his book when it comes to music.

Yeah but this one has sumac in it.
That’s the same way I discovered Cattle Decapitation.
@@diego17th what were you searching instead 💀💀💀
Oceanic was great. The one before that was Celestial. Also great.
Nick is definitly one of the best in the game right now, so musical, so much flow and so heavy
bullseye
how about that snare sound? top tier.
That block of anger in my stomach finally feels understood. Thanks, Sumac!
Well said. Great band.
EXPLOSION OF CREATIVITY 🙄
Its the soundtrack to a great shit.
Very organic. What real music should sound like. Truly creative
Holy hell those free improv sections are off the chain - what a trio!
That’s because that ain’t improve 😎
it aint improv, sounds very much the same as on other concerts or on the record. But that is not a bad thing!

I very much enjoyed this musical recital.
They're up there making beautiful music for a sad world.
Such a sick drummer
Those drums sound fantastic. That bass tone is fucking incredible
C#m has a sad and dark feel to it obviously, an almost i've fing had it with it all vibe, incredibly intense.
This is excellent. All roads of this lineage lead back to Caspar Brotzmann Massaker, and his drummer Danny Arnold Lommen's 80s band GORE.
Incredible drumming.
The heaviest soundcheck in the universe seems good
An incredible band in general but they reaaaaaaally shine live. They're the real deal bay b
the crowd was shell-shocked couldn't move for most of the song
Plural for geniuses. On the stage. In the crowd. St Vitus Bar. And especially Thrill Jockey ✊🏿🤘🏾🤎🖤
5:44 hell yeah brother
i love this like eating ice cream with a knife
This band is so fucking good. Looks like some new stuff on the way soon, too.
After you listen to Sumac you can't go back to traditional metal bands. This is what metal was supposed to sound like from the beginning.
I can't remember the last time I agreed as much with a statement as I did with yours here. A million percent right!
also primitive man
I heard this band on WPFW 89.3 Washington dc...#uckin Awesome ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Awesome!
I saw these guys once on TH-cam

To be fair, the flash photography is a bit much, haha.
4:00, the drum fill is orgasmic

Kind of reminds me of Crow by Shellac.
