JT + Tocchet = LEGEND. JT has actually been awesome since his first year on the team, but he really elevated to another level this year... and his drive to win has been infectious in the best possible way. He deserved every single chant he got this year. Hope management can find a way to give this guy a great team to work with next year as well. Need a few great signings to make up for the performers we won't be able to retain.
Found a new respect for Miller through this series. He was definitely the soul of that team, and bore a lot of the responsibility, and put a lot of the blame on himself. Was nice to see the crowd in attendance send their team off with some cheers. It was an absolute burner season for the Canucks, as they surprised everyone, including myself. I didn't think Edmonton would wipe them up like some delusional fanboy or anything, but I honestly never expected quite that much fight in them either. This team, has a very bright, near-future. I really don't think these guys were a one-off, or a fluke of any sorts. I am glad Edmonton won, but, I am already wary of this Canucks team for next season. Rock on, Miller. Miller had such a good year. I'm sorry to see it end the way it did. Honestly... I think I'd give him the C over Hughes, he's got more experience in the league, he's got great vision, he's accountable, and most of all, he fucking cares and you can tell.
I get the argument, for sure, but I love Hughes in the role. He's young and has a great head on his shoulders, understands the game well and is a real quarterback for the team on the ice. He logs huge minutes too, so besides a goalie, he's really THE guy. Miller is an incredibly emotional guy, and that's great in a lot of ways.. great for a fired up speech, etc... but I like a level-headed guy in charge... Still, I think Hughes and Miller compliment each other well.. there's no butting heads in their styles.. and that's ultimately more important in a leadership group than who specifically has the C.
@@joelface yeah I totally see that side of it all, especially the emotional moments in not so positive games and such. It's all hypothetical anyway, you can't really strip a captain of a C and have everything be smooth. I'm happy with Hughes, I just wish he showed a bit more... Idk, passion.
