Simple play-along for drummers looking to drill and solidify their basic shuffle groove, and basic triplet based fill to compliment it. Shoutout to all viewers and channel members that have requested this type of vid, which recreates the sort of drills we do in face-to-face sessions on two drum kits :) Notation on practice-along notation formats on the channel members' page, here: www.buymeacoffee.com/mikebarnesdrums/notation-practice-along-for-sweet-home-chicago-shuffle-drill Other videos relevant to this... Hey Mike. I'm a 67 year old who always wanted to be a drummer. I can sit and watch you all day. The way you smile and play with such ease is an inspiration. I just wish we had the internet back when I was younger and could have learned from yourself.
thank you very much mike ! i'm a french young lady drummer of 68 years and my problem was with the shuffle that I didn't practice at all... You are with me every days since 4 weeks and now I can play this song nearly properly... 1 week more and that will be nickel !!😂 very practicle for me !!! many, many thanks 😅 Michelle
Very cool Michelle! Thanks for watching and glad you dig. Just a reminder if I may that what we're doing here isn't playing the drum part from the song as such, we're using the song as a backing track to drill our basic shuffle groove and basic triplet fill. Cheers! :)
Hello MIKE, of all the great drummers on you tube you are the one I watch the most. I have to go to ENGLAND in 2022 and I would like to know where you live to visit you and improve me with you with courses of course. See you soon, jack

Love it Mike.I'm 76 (!) and restarted to play in a friends rock band after 50 years. Your lessons are wonderful and easy to understand. Thank you and, when possible, try to add the PDF, even if it should cost some euros. Thank you, friend.

Hi all, just to be super clear, this vid is a groove and fill drill along to this song, rather than how I would actually play this song in real life! I wouldn't play as many fills when actually performing the song! Cheers! :)
@@MikeBarnesDrums ha lol no, not yet 🙃 I've only been learning drums a few months so can't keep up with your more advanced stuff dangit. Do you have a playlist targeted more towards us noobs? Am in NZ btw.
What have I learned here…? That a 12 Bar Blues Shuffle(…!) played on E-Drums(…!!!) can be something appealing to aspire to. Quite a revelation. Blinkers removed 😀

Of course, now we all want to see how you'd do this at a gig.
Play this now and again with a Blues Brothers tribute - will post a vid of that when poss!
@@MikeBarnesDrums You rock!
(somehow saying "you shuffle!" doesn"t sound like a compliment. lol)
P.S. A British Blues Brothers tribute sounds AWESOME!
@@steveanderson6180 Yeah it's lots of fun! th-cam.com/video/eRobUYkgA6U/w-d-xo.html
I love you still really
does anybody know the tempo of this play ??? thanks a lot
Full speed for this song is around quarter note=125 bpm. Here I've slightly slowed it down to around 114 bpm.
I struggle with bass drum timing while I'm doing high hat and snare
On this groove? Go back to basics, play it slow and get a feel for it: th-cam.com/video/iN8C3rijcHw/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
