    I did some research on the Prodrive version. It is an official car and comes with these parts -
    Made as a commemoration model for 2001 rally victory.
    Viscus centre diff LSD
    Rear “Sure track” LSD
    Front “Sure track LSD (optional)
    Sports suspension
    Intake and exhaust
    Special coated pistons
    Seamless valve lifters
    Large intercooler with STI logo
    Intercooler duct with aluminum and silicone gasket
    Intercooler water spray with auto and manual
    Cherry red stitching steering wheel
    15:1 quick ratio steering wheel (I did notice this)
    Metal shift boot ring
    Aluminum sports pedals
    Prodrive style gauge cluster in blue
    Seat special material
    Super seat lifter ratchet style
    Chrome inner remote door panel
    Exclusive front bumper, grille, side skirts, rear spoiler
    Roof vent
    Large size under guard
    Super sports ABS
    HID low beam lamp (optional)
    **Interesting, the Prodrive wheels were not part of the package.
    Only available in white or WR blue
    Optional front LSD, tinted windows, HID, premium sound system.
    Prices 3,145,000 - 3,371,000 yen depending on options.
    Standard model costs 2,740,000 yen - 3,205,000 yen.

      Most of those parts are standard issue on STI.

      This car also has eBay tail lights, the real ones aren't ricey

    • @mred9161
      @mred9161 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      drumboarder1 the bugs all have those rear lights.
      Those wheels aren’t prodrive either they’re just aftermarket wheels.
      The prodrive style was brought to the UK in limited edition numbers too. Just 900 WR blue and 100 black ones were sold. The only thing that separates them is the bumper, side skirts and boot spoiler. The rest is all standard STI stuff bar the roof vent which was an option in Japan.

    Thanks for the review Derek! I'm the new owner patiently waiting arrival of this car :)
    The prodrive style was an official model, I believe only 1000 or so were made for 02 year for Japan. For the price I couldn't pass on it even with the condition it's in

    MY FUCKING DREAM CAR OH GOD YES

    • @atlanticimports6939
      @atlanticimports6939 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dream car really? Of all the cars out there you fancy an STI lol? How about an R34gtr... that's dream car worthy.

    • @Rome1017Lights
      @Rome1017Lights 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      atlanticimports not everyone wants the car you want lol.. Seeing as r34s in general are typical for me to see, one definitely isn't my dream car.
      Would rather a rare Prodrive Subaru over a GTR

    • @drumboarder1
      @drumboarder1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      atlantisimports my first car was/is a bugeye I've had for nearly 8 years and this version has strong parts based in racing (obviously nowhere near the rally cars but good for a street/track car)
      when I can afford an engine swap and a $2000-$3000 bumper my car will look like this without the eBay lights and STI wing

    • @atlanticimports6939
      @atlanticimports6939 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gonna do the EJ207 swap? The GDB STI's are nice don't get me wrong but handling wise I feel the GTR would destroy it. I hate the amount of understeer mine has. Working on dialing it down with chassis brace and rear sway bars and see how much of a difference that will make. Cornering grip is pretty damn good tho with pilot supersports on an AWD car.

    • @drumboarder1
      @drumboarder1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      atlanticimports if I can afford an STI wreck then yes I'd love to (we have 207s in Aus although it might be cheaper to import a half cut from japan still) but realistically I'll probably just end up trying to get a 2003/4 blobeye WRX wreck for the stronger gearbox.
      We definitely need sway bars braces to help our understeer issues though definitely agree there and, while the EJ is a decent engine it doesn't really hold a candle to the RB so if I were to be chasing real speed I probably wouldn't be going with an older subie, it's just that it was my first car, it'll be the first time I do anything beyond swap the exhaust/clutch/sound system and the most powerful car I've driven was a stock older auto AU Falcon so even a solid WRX motor with a small turbo is going to seem quick to me

  • @atlanticimports6939
    @atlanticimports6939 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Fantastic little car, I bought the same model last year soon as they became legal just the standard GDB STI not the prodrive version. New owner should know to get a tactrix cable and get an open source tune ASAP because engine will knock on 91oct fuel with current engine timing.

    The bolt/screw hold at the rally vent is from the roof scoop that used to cover it Seems someone removed it . Yes comments on a old vid but just info if anyone is interested.

    What is the obsession with misinterpreting the child inside sticker? Ever see a baby on board window sticker? Cop pulls up, "hey do you have a baby INSIDE your window?" No, I never ever ever would have even taken it that way, even as a joke. The joke is "hey be careful I have a child AND it's a rip off of the Intel Inside logo". Zoom over the head for miles. While I'm being stupid, why do you switch accents? You say the word Zed for the letter Z (Zee) but you DON'T say "Impretza" For Impreza. I don't know Canadian accents that much but as an American I think it's kinda funny how you mix the UK english and US english. Sorry, didn't mean to rant, I watch ALL your videos and love them all!!!!! I want that JDM left hand drive Accord!!!

      I got my jdm sti for $9000CAD shipped to Canada. Was a 3.5 grade with 90k kms. Grade 4 with 60-80k can sell anywhere between $9000-$12000CAD Prodrive model would likely be around $14-15k

    • @atlanticimports6939
      @atlanticimports6939 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ben Chesterman I wasn't including the shipping costs in that so you'd be looking at another $2000CAD on top. Then have to pay gst on the auction price of the vehicle upon arrival to your port.

    why do asian cars always have peeling paint

    • @aletius
      @aletius 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      All old cars have peeling paint, these are in quite good condition for how old they are and I can say better than older American cars.

    • @aletius
      @aletius 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TVCH LORD I would say it depends on the car, I used to own an older 3 series and it had paint issues as well but the higher end luxury models in BMW did not exhibit the same symptoms at the same age. The same can be said here with Toyota and Lexus, the Toyota will obviously use cheaper quality paint to make it affordable as compared to the Lexus. Most German cars of the era were a lot more expensive than the regular day to day Japanese ones and were seen as luxurious and thus had better paint. The cheaper German cars had issues just like the Japanese cars. Price and affordability of the vehicle play a huge part in this.

    • @TVCHLORD
      @TVCHLORD 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i havent seen any e46 3 series with peeling paint, maybe e36 or 30

    • @aletius
      @aletius 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TVCH LORD Another thing I wanted to mention was the type of paint these companies used. Honda and Subaru had significantly worse quality paint comparatively to other manufacturers as they often used thinner paint and used PPG paint with an odd application process but then again it depends on the model and what urethanes are used. Some Hondas were good and some were bad, it was a hit or miss. I can't say anything good about Subaru paint from the late 90s to early 2000s as I have never owned one of their cars from the era but their paint seems fine now.

    • @TVCHLORD
      @TVCHLORD 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      its a shame because this car is super cool but the paint is messed up
