  • In this video I show you what I did to set my hitch up on my tractor to make it more competitive to pull with, in the 2500lbs farm and field class.

Since we were using our 8N tractor for wood collection and did not like the play in the three-point hitch set up, we added a standard drawbar to the bottom of the differential. That made drawing things much stiffer. as for your stiffening the current set up, there are two pin positions on the right and left side at the draw bar height (next to attachment point 1 and 2) where you can add 2 more points to your draw bar, and it will not have to be welded to the frame or attached with u bolts. These two attachment points are normally used for the mowing machine attachments. Good luck.

The lower two hitch bolts on the differential case have been known to break out the casting. General farming it's rare, but if put into a pulling competition with a tuned up engine it's a lot more likely. Look for the solid hitch bar style, four bolts under the belly and a ring where the sway chains attach that could be locked in. The hydraulics are strong enough the vertical reinforced bars you have can get bent if you accidentally hit the lift lever, or at least they did on my Ferguson 35.

Thank you for the tip on this, it makes sense that if you are setting a hitch up under the belly, it would pull down more on the 4 wheels than the back wheels. Would you happen to have a picture of this hitch system of what it looks like you are describing. I could possibly copy it to build one.
