    Started learning Glide a few weeks ago just for a personal Recipe Book app and have watched a good number of your videos, thank you so much! I'm still grasping how things work, but was able to mimic what you did here! I wanted to add the User who left the comment, so in the Ratings table I made a relation to the user tab, then a lookup to username tab, then a template tab "Added by NAME TIME" and replaced name and time obviously, and put that in the META place. It worked! Maybe there was an easier way, but since I'm new, this is what I came up with :) Thanks so much for all this knowledge!

      That’s the best way for sure (if your users table isn’t protected by row owners). Otherwise, you can create columns for all the user data you want to save directly in the ratings table.

      @@RobertPetittoWA as a classic app expert but a pages novice I was enthralled by watching the build. Basic stuff like action rows and slide in screens. I would be very happy to see a video pitched at introducing pages for someone like me… separately, since computed columns are not imported from classic app tables are you simply waiting for Glide to offer this, or doing it manually?

    Here I am again. Glide keeps evolving and changing things up. May I ask for a revised version with their new Ratings feature? I can't seem to make out how that works...

      @@RobertPetittoWA Jesus lord... Don't mind me... I'd completely forgotten that's exactly the thing you mentioned at the very start of the video... 🤦‍♀ My mind is all over the place. I've just recently lauched the app to the public and I've been so busy with iterations, community management, trying to find ways to monetize... and then they released a Comments component. That's why I thought to redo the reviews section, but I'm not being able to add a star rating along with a comment in the way it was before, so I'll probably go back to the system as you so elegantly made it and explained here.

    Wow. A few days ago, I got the idea to make an app to enter restaurants, rate them, and maybe leave some comments. I already had looked in the template from Glide but was not able to find anything. I also placed a topic in the community, but I was already thinking about creating something myself. While I was looking around on how to do ratings, I found your video. And this is what I was looking for in the templates. I will try to follow along but I think I will modify some things to make it my own. Once it's done, I can share it with my family here, so we have some idea about some restaurants in the area and maybe place some filters to filter on the type of restaurant. 🙂
    I will need my time to go through it step by step because it looks complicated, but I think I will manage 🙂
    Can you maybe tell me how or what you are using for the star icons? I found some icons, but they don't look like the ones I would like to use. Many thanks in advance.

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      The video is how to display star ratings. Glide doesn’t have a native way to display stars, only accept stars as input.

    In the ratings table, how could I also add /connect the recipe name with it so if I were to demonstrate the recipes in layouts, it would show the recipe name as well?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could either create relation back to the recipe and then use a look up, or you can write it directly to the ratings table, using a screen value in the form

    Really quick one @Robert. I have done exactly the same ( hope so ), but i'm having an issue into the " rating tables " as the " Restaurant ID " and " user id " are basicly the other way around. The User ID will copy the ID of the Restaurant and other way around. How I can change it ? I've tried to edit the columns names as well, but nothing happened. Thank you in advance.

      Did you accidentally assign the restaurants table to be your users table?

    Hi Robert! I need to have a review feature for a Coachee to review a coach after a session. And like Uber has a rating pop-up before you can even book another ride, the coachees need to have a pop up review form before they are able to book another session. Can you help me?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is doable for sure. You’ll need to query which session hasn’t been rated. If they try pushing the button, using a conditional action, display for screen related to the session.
      Book a time with me and I’ll show you how:

    Is there a way to add the user’s most recent ratings onto their user profile ?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure thing. Create a multiple relation from the users table to the ratings table. Display that relation as a collection.

    Glide won't allow me to copy and paste the row ID - any advice so I don't have to manually type it in?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Copying and pasting a real ID can be finicky at times sometimes you have to refresh and double click a cell, etc. If that still doesn’t work, create a template column that points to the row ID column and try copying that.

      Yes. Use screen values in the form to pass those values behind-the-scenes. Look up screen values in the Glide documentation for more information.

    Is there any way to do this if the app is set to public access? I would like a similar concept, but I do not have a users table. I got it set up roughly, but I'm having an issue getting the ratings to be connected to the item itself. Right now all ratings just show up in the ratings table, without relating to the item that was rated so the action row with the ratings still says 'No ratings' even if it has been rated?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Are you sure you’re correctly relating the product to ratings table. You don’t really need a users table unless you wanted to show who made the ratings.
