    Fantastic! 💡The clarity got me "unstuck"! 💡 I put the screens in the User Profile area but thought I did something wrong. Thanks for highlighting potential adjustments. This was great! Do you have a Glide Apps course?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it helped. I should really create a Glide Basics course. Where would you expect to see one? Would you expect this course to be free or paid?

    • @JamieIsInvesting
      @JamieIsInvesting ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobertPetittoWA “Where” would I expect to see one? At this point there are so many hosting sites that the possibilities are endless. Personally, I would not expect THIS type of knowledge to be free. However, my suggestion would be to use actual customer ideas of apps that people are working on (or want to bring to fruition) so people can see an actual working app from idea to production in the duration of a course.

    I like your navigation tips, thinking how I can take this and adapt this to my gamifiction item store to let students search sub categories (ie class privileges or materials) and also the idea of favoriting items that they might purchase a lot, need to go play around with these ideas! Thanks!

      Could be a good way to switch between purchasable items and craftable items.

    I watched you video and I can see all my vehicles, boat and truck behind those things, but still it is hard to comprehend. I wish you made tutorial of real existing things. Everyone owes car for instance and knows what Vin number, engine size, odometer reeding means. They also have registration document for their vehicle which has expirations date. They have insurance and that possibly have expiration date, policy number, agent contact number and company name. Storing those documents for each vehicle would be another comprehensive thing to do. keep up with great videos and would love to see real things as part of your tutorials.

    Very helpful, thanks! At 2:55 you are referring to the "details" style which i couldn't find. I assume it has been changed over time. What is the actual style one can choose here? I've chosen "custom" style but it turns out that there will be 2 search bars for categories and things, not only one.
    And 2) The "Favorite" components has been removed as well, or? Which one you propose for that? Thanks!

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Custom has replaced Details. Search bars appear per collection now 😕. Lastly, you’ll need to build your own favorites functionality using buttons and a user specific column

    Hi Robert, thanks for the videos. In cases like these very smart filters and navigation that write in the table, this means every time a user clicks on next it counts as one edit, charging our updates usage quota, right?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, yes. Hopefully, Glide will give us session variable columns for this use case.

    At the 3:00 mark, you are mentioning the Detail Screen. I do not an icon for that image (on the right side) next to swipe. Am I to understand that is probably part of an upgraded plan?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In classic apps, it’s called a detail screen. In the new version of Glide apps, it’s called a custom screen. It’s the same thing.

    Is this the older version before it was updated? I'm following you at 11:47 but I don't know where you're starting from. I don't see "Tabs" or "Screen" but rather, I see "Navigation" "Menu" and "Components." Maybe I missed something, I’ll keep digging...

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      This app was built in Classic Apps. If you're attempting to build in Glide Apps (formerly Glide Pages), you'll need to use collections over inline lists. Button bars still work. So do choice components as menus.

    will this make the app a bit more clunky as it is technically loading both lists but just hiding them?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! I talked to the CTO of Glide about this one. He says that if the component isn’t visible, then it doesn’t use any additional resources.

  • @danieloldfield8219

    If the navigation buttons perform a table update for each click, then wouldn’t that count against row updates and quickly put your account into a higher payment tier. Are their more efficient ways of achieving navigation?

    • @RobertPetittoWA
      @RobertPetittoWA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right…it will. The only way to navigate would be to use traditional relation lists and navigate to tab actions. Hopefully Glide introduces the concept of session variables that don’t count against our updates.
