Out of curiosity, am I the only one who hears serious audio distortions at the higher frequencies? It's a shame - Nadine's rendition may be my favorite of the piano-voice recordings of this gorgeous song.
No, you're not the only one. The distortions are definitely there. However, her interpretation of "Vocalise" would probably have pleased Rachmaninoff so much that he would have happily lived with the distortions. As do I. This is the best I've ever heard, topping te Kanawa, Price, Fleming and Moffo. So much vocal control, yet so much feeling. It's just gorgeous singing.
I wish that she would pay more attention to the way that she ENDS phrases. they are not as beautiful as they could be as she stops with her diaphragm and i cuts too sharply

J'ai vu la performance d'Ilona, que j'aime beaucoup pour son toucher adorable et, comme tu dis, très sensible. Elle prend beaucoup de libertés avec l'ornementation - beaucoup d'aspirations et de dynamiques plongeantes et soufflées ajoutées que je ne suis pas sûr que le compositeur ait voulu. Je suis aussi plus amoureux du timbre vocal et de la pureté de Nadine, et avez-vous vraiment écouté son C#6 éthéré ? Je n'ai pas entendu son égal!

Sutherland qui a une technicité époustouflante dans la coloratura ne m'émeut aucunement, ni par son timbre, ni par son expression. Callas, au delà de certaines imperfections et d'aigus parfois pénibles atteint à certains moments le sublime en révélant la vérité du sentiment cachée derrière la beauté de l'écriture du compositeur qu'elle interprète. Exprimer en chantant est l'étape ultime, chanter plaisamment est à la portée d'une bonne voix qui ne s'encombrera pas de scrupules risquant de remettre en question une facilité si durement acquise. Les grands chanteurs ne sont pas toujours artistes...
