    Nice looking set. From 1946 to around 1953 is some of my favorite Lionel sets. They are so well built.

    Kudos to you for pronouncing Berkshire properly. You must live in the Northeast. My favorite postwar steamer is the Turbines. There's just something about their sounds as they pound the rails that gets my heart racing!

      Thanks! I grew up in Bennington, VT, which is close to the Berkshires. You can't go wrong with a Turbine or Berkshire engine as both were well made.

      Totally agree. I'm from the New Haven Connecticut area and have been to Vermont many times. It is beautiful.

    Wonderful looking set Al. I have the engine and tender but mine does not have the RR on it. But it did come with all the boxes both are in beautiful condition. I did upload an unboxing video on it. I love your videos Al. 😊

      David, here is a link to my basement tour which includes what I have displayed on the walls along with my two layouts.

    Al what a great set and find and in such wonderful condition. I really like your layout. How big is your table?

    • @alsvintagetoytrains7042
      @alsvintagetoytrains7042  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The layout is roughly 10.5' by 18' along the long wall & 16' along the short wall. All three loops use O-72 radius track and the inner loop has O-22 switches / O-31 crossing over the center of the layout. Two ZWs & a Z power the layout and accessories. All old school conventional control.

    That’s a really nice, clean set! I don’t recall ever seeing an RR locomotive so I learned something new.
    What is that reference book you are using? I may have to try to find one so I can figure out how many sets I could make out of my random stuff. I also have a set with a 736 that would like to verify is correct. Thanks!

      "Standard catalog of Lionel Train Sets 1945-1969" by David Doyle. It is a good reference. I found a couple of minor errors, but generally it is very good. Greenberg's also has something similar, but I don't own that one as yet.

      Okay great, I will look for one. I have a 20 year old Greenberg somewhere but I never really found it very useful. @@alsvintagetoytrains7042

    NICE VID. I HACE A 2056 LOCOMOTIVE.

      Lionel's small Hudson is a nice engine, and the 2056 is also a 1952 only engine. I guess Lionel has to change the number of the 2046 to 2056 instead of adding an RR because the Hudson was introduced in 1950 and always came with magnatraction. The Berkshires and Turbines reverted to their non-magnatraction numbers and they added RR

      You can have a lot of fun finding the cars to make a catalog set, my sister gifted me a flyer set she found at a antique mall, by George it had the original boxes and the box it was shipped in, it's so original I normally do find anything like that.
