    Worked exactly as advertised, in other words it was awesome! Replaced rear sights on my G21 and G36 in way less than an hour, 21 first, maybe took 20 minutes taking my time. 36 next in probably 10 minutes, piece of cake. Highly recommend.

    Hate to criticize a "how-to" video for a product I purchased from your company, but the lighting and volume, or your distance from the mic, made this video almost unbearable to watch. It sent me on a search for other how-to videos elsewhere.

    Just did my G22. Worked like a charm. I purchase one of those polymer sight removers before; and it was a POS; wore out right away and still mired my slide. But not this one. It has surprised me. It's solid; i mean really solid. and it looks pretty cool. Easy to use. That G22 was stuck like chuck and broke the other company i mentioned b4. This VISM press pushed it right off. And i mean that sucker was stuck. I'd definitely recommend it to friends.

    This video helped a lot since there were no paper instructions included in the kit I purchased from Optics Planet. Once I got it set up, it was easy as pie to remove sights from 2 slides and put 1 on the other. I'm definitely going to mount this to a piece of 1x6 or 1x8 to stability. Great tool for the price. Highly recommend to anyone. After doing 3 or 4 sights yourself that you got cheaper on the internet than any local shop(even though most do it for free if you buy the sights from them), it'll pay off. Thanks again NcSTAR. Please include a paper copy of the instructions next time.

    I'll dig out the Desert Eagle to see if it'll work. Its worked on everything else of mine.
    Regardless, gunsmiths in my area charge $40-50 to swap out sights and they're never centered. This tool will pay for itself after one or two uses (which I should have done years ago)

    I understand the Glock sights are the easiest sights to push and replace. Can I use this tool to push a offset sight to dovetail such as a Kimber Custom II with out messing up the dovetail, or is that one of the sights that this tool cannot be used on????

    Snapped my pusher. I had previously successfully adjusted my M&P 9mm Pro Series sights to be dead nuts with the VISM tool. I wanted to install some TruGlo's....so I pushed out the M&P sights and went to install the TruGlo's.....and it was not having any of it. I would stop when things seemed too tight......I am a 27yr master motorcycle mechanic and have worked on my own firearms and guitars forever....and currently work as a rigger in film & TV production. I know tools and working with my hands....and how fasteners etc feel. I can tell when things are not going so it was not a case of me bombing through. So I would back off, make sure the sight pusher was not touching the frame and try again. I'd make small adjustments....I also used a welders pencil to make reference marks so I could see how much it was moving but eventually when it was almost 1/2 way on I decided it was too tight. It got to the point it did not want to budge. Funnily enough, I snapped the pusher taking the partially installed new sights off. Oh and I had lubed the pusher tool as well as the dovetail with premium lubricant. I subsequently installed the sights with a borrowed MGW M&P tool which pushed them on easily. I really wanted this tool to work. I had read about others snapping the pusher but I thought it was probably user error.....the pusher contacting the slide. So I was very careful about it. My BIL had the MGW and he was critical of the VISM and said it looked weak to him on the sides and that the pusher bolts were small diameter. I said I could make it work for me, that I wasn't spending that much on an MGW. The problem is the pusher is cast iron so it is brittle. NcStar should go to hard steel for this part if they really want a strong tool. The rest of it is really good and it's a nice design. I preferred the way it held the slide compared to the MGW and the soft inserts are nice.

    Black slide on a black background does not do well. It is difficult to see what you are doing. You should have used a light colored table cover and a light colored shirt. All that being said it is still one of the better sight tool videos. Good job.

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sights really weren't that tight. It's much easier if you secure the rear sight tool to a vise or table. We did this without either partially because it made it easier to film and to show it can still be done without having the tool secured. Additionally, some sights are tighter than others and it depends on the manufacturer of the sight.

    When the right side of the pusher makes contact with the sight installing, the main top bolt unscrews from the opposite end of the T handle and sight will push no further - top area is disassembled!
    What am I doing wrong here???

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to tighten up the set screw on the knurled nut.

    You should show using the polymer inserts. Doesn't matter how easy it was for you. Thanks

      What would you like to see? How to change out the inserts? When to use the flat vs angled?

    • @whoknows8678
      @whoknows8678 ปีที่แล้ว

      The inserts just slide into the dovetails. You might have to tap them in with a little force. I did. It really couldn't be any easier.

      The VTUPRS is only for rear sights. We have a new front & rear sight pusher that just came out. link: www.ncstar.com/new-arrivals/coming-soon/vtufnr-univ-front-rear-adj-toolblu

    Will this work on XDS sights? I've been told that they are pressed in hydraulically and a pain to mess with

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has worked on XD's but they are the most difficult to remove and have also broken a few sight pushers. If you are going to use it on an XD, make sure you do your research before removing the sight. If the pusher breaks, we do cover it under warranty.

      Hey jbj just ordered my sight pusher on Amazon & it's on back order so I did some research starting with a gunsmith would have a more professional & expensive tool that would works but there's a cost for that. Others have suggested putting the slide in a 200 degree oven for an hour (BIG PICTURE OF THE WIFE LETTING THAT HAPPEN) another was using a brass punch
      To break the seal then pressing'em out will keep you posted

      Yes, but XD sights are very tight and need to be removed carefully.

    Question for NCSTAR please: I have a 1911 with a FRONT sight which is dovetail mounted, just like a Glock rear sight. Do you think your tool will work well with that? Have you ever used it for a front sight on a 1911?

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is designed specifically for rear sights only.

    • @hikerfedex
      @hikerfedex 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wondered the same thing. (I have an M&P Shield) I'm not understanding why it WOULDN'T work on front dovetailed sites. What am I missing??

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not designed for front sights. The front site is generally only a single blade and can be broken or bent by using this sight pusher.

    • @ncstar

      This is a universal rear sight tool. It does not work on front sights.

    I'm buying one. Did you have to grind away to fit the sight before installing it?

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No grinding was required for these sights on this pistol slide. These were Ameriglo sights on a Glock 19 slide. All items were stock.

      you could run a piece of fine sand paper across the dovetail on the slide if its too tight. But, just sand it very lightly and only a couple passes because if you do too much the slide will be loose and your aim will be off all the time.

    • @davidquinones3470

      I upgraded sights on 2 pistols. This tool paid itself off. I recommend this tool.

    • @hdrjunkie
      @hdrjunkie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When i changed the sights on my glock g19 i only had to lightly sand the new sights dove tail a tiny bit... but i didnt use this type of tool to install it. I used a hammer and punch (drift tool) cant wait to get this in though as im putting adjustable rear sights on it now!

    Ok beretta 84?

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should work fine on the rear sight but it won't do the front sight. Take a look at our VTUFNR front and rear sight pusher for your Beretta 84.

    So, how do we push out a front sight?

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would depend on the pistol. Many pistol front sights are bolted/screwed into the slide while some us a dovetail. You would need to consult your firearms owners manual.

      NcSTAR Can it be used for most dovetailed front sights like Smith&Wesson, Sigs and Berettas? Id like to get one but, I'd like one that can do both front and rear dovetailed front sights. Will this handle slanted rear sights like those found on a Glock? Thanks for your help!~

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is designed specifically for rear sights. Yes, it will work on Glock rear sights. It's being used on a Glock slide in the video.

      assuming the front sights are dovetailed, I flip the slide around and go from there. Front sights like glocks, you have to buy another tool.

    Just got mine yesterday, did you have to oil down the threads?

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The threads should have oil from the factory but if it is too dry, it doesn't hurt to add some oil.

    This will be a stupid question, can you use this sight pusher for rifles, if not.. is there a sight pusher ( that won’t break the bank ) recommended for rifles?

    • @ncstar
      @ncstar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is not intended for use on rifles. We do not have a universal rifle sight pusher as there are too many different sight designs on long guns. Contact our support dept at support@ncstar.com if you would like to go over details of what you're looking for.
