This album is different. The sound itself is worth a million dollars man. Take a listen all the way from room for squares to battle studies. Every album is different and good in it's own light. This album is organic whether you like it or not. I'd accept it if a lot of people might say that this album is 'unpolished'. But, have you ever heard this record over a good pair of speakers? It's amazing I tell you.
I recently broke up with my girlfriend because our long-distance relationship was too much for both of us. We both love John Mayer and given the circumstances this song makes me feel super nostalgic. It makes me think of the good time we had listening to his music together, as well as the fact that we haven't talked in a while, and it seems now that instead of being friends, we're now more of nothing. Needless to say, this song makes me feel so unbelievably melancholy.
Feel ya man. It's funny how months later it changes to a different feeling as time goes by. I'm sure you can probably attest to that (it says its it's been 4 months since you posted that so I can only assume).Crazy to think as my relationship was very tricky, she was my best friend since I was 15 years old and we were in a relationship together for almost 10 years. Things were good but I wasn't complete.. I felt like I needed to go my own way after a few things happened that made me question the longevity/sincerity and trust of tomorrow. Point is (I'm getting there, I promise) this song sums it up beautifully. At the end of the day, we go through all the motions of those 4 words and 3 very different things/feelings etc.
Just gotta call her up man, if your sitting at night and your letting that black berry buzz on your chest waiting for that test , your just wasting your night -
i don't think i've ever seen john singing without a guitar strapped on him. and it was quite a LOL moment at the end of this vid to see him sing sans guitar. ahhhhhhhhh but i love the man dearly
Right on, anyone who has studied ANYTHING related to music for more than a year knows JM has undeniable talent. Hate the guy all you want, either 1. you have no credentials to criticize or 2. you're just deaf. End of story.
Its feel like I’m there, and when the ‘directed by’ comes in, i just realize that the experience crowd has, soon will be memory, how beautifully sad that is.
i saw him play the night before this at a myspace secret show at the music hall of williamsburg (about 300-500 people capacity) and he was on FIRE and played for about 2 1/2 hours, giving it his all. i think he was probably a little fatigued vocally from that show, understandably. Anyway, he still sounds about 20x better than most live pop vocalists. and as always, his playing is unbelievable.
I love John Mayer. That's all I need to say. Love, Ya'll. Love the moment. Love the world. Love yourself. Most importantly, I love myself. Peace dudes.
If you listen closely to his singing on albums, John Mayer quite often sings certain notes a little sharp or a little flat (on purpose I'm sure) and to me it adds dimension to the song...basically, he pulls it of. I don't think anything different is going on here and he sounds great!
lol, this gig was brilliant. thanks to sqlife for uploading it. Sad that he played a free 2 hr gig, using songs from every stage of his carrer and ppl are still complaining, but what are you gonna do? it was wicked
What a timeless message; friends lovers or nothing. And in case that wasn’t clear enough; anything other than yes is no, anything other than stay is go, anything less than I love you is lying. Thank you for your studies, John.
Friends, Lovers or Nothing Now that we are over As the loving kind We'll be dreaming ways To keep the good alive Only when we want is not A compromise I'll be pouring tears Into your drying eyes Friends, lovers, or nothing There can only be one Friends, lovers, or nothing There'll never be an in between So give it up You whisper "Come on over" 'Cause your two drinks in But in the morning I will say Good-bye again Think we'll never fall into The jealous game The streets will flood With blood of those who felt the same Friends, lovers, or nothing There can only be one Friends, lovers, or nothing There'll never be an in between So give it up Friends, lovers, or nothing We can really only ever be one Friends, lovers, or nothing We'll never be the in between So give it up We'll never the in between So give it up Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying Anything other than a yes is no Anything other than stayin' is go Anything less than I love you, is lying
I once heard a guitar teacher say that if you hit a bum note live, repeat it a few times. Sooner or later the audience will start believing it's meant to be there and it'll sound right. Although, he might have just hit a bum note. Then hit it again.
because he was in his prime. After that he realised what he's done to everyone and began to decay. Til the day you saw Born and Raised. I'd say REborn and Reinvented.
@HaruUnite Its a Gibson SG. lol. Look for the nods ( 1961 vintage Gibson Les Paul has 2, while Gibson SG has 4) and JM has 4... ALSO, SG also has 2 humbuckers which is what JM is using. The 1961 vintage Gibson Les Paul only has one single single pickup. Look closer hehe
@AloJou @Haraunite It's arguably both- In 1961 the Les Paul was redesigned- that's what this guitar is. Les Paul didn't like the new shape, so asked for his name to be dropped, so it was renamed "SG", but the first few were sold as Les Pauls, even tho they're what we now see as the SG shape. Mayer's guitar is one of those '61 models
@JohnMayerFan98 It is actually a 1961 Les Paul. Look closely at the truss rod cover on the headstock. In 1961 Gibson stopped making the original Les Pauls in favor of the new model. However, 1963 they re-introduced the "New Les Paul" as the "S.G." (Solid Guitar)
If you don't like it, don't have a go at other people who do... there are plenty musicians (myself included) that enjoy John Mayer's music, if you don't that's your own opinion and it'd be best if you kept it to yourself when people are trying to enjoy watching this video...
@nthsieh928: I seriously beg to differ with your opinion on the album. I'd admit that it's difficult to write an entire album based on the theme of love itself and YES, some of the lyrics are very repetitive. But hey, that's the ABCs of pop music songwriting and it works without fail. Maybe you're disappointed that John didn't do a Continuum Part II. Perhaps I was too when I initially heard the album but then again, this album grows on you. ..........
@bibbler227 nono in 1961 the gibson Les paul SG was produced without les paul's consent, and hje hated the design and asked for his name to be removed from the guitar the same year, although the truss rod covers still had the Les Paul name until 63' and that marked the end of Les Paul's involvement with the company. so it's still an SG, but its a Les Paul SG.
I think the end is known as a reprisal. its like a credit role for a gig, where the star walks of as the music plays. This track is perfect for an ending like that. I dont think he was walking off in a huff this was nice but I think I like the Trio better... bing a man and all ;)
This album is different. The sound itself is worth a million dollars man. Take a listen all the way from room for squares to battle studies. Every album is different and good in it's own light. @@willsevy7836 What are u even talking about ? 😅
First i heard this song, i was broke up with my ex, it was 9 years ago. and i feel melancholy too everytime listening this song.
People won’t ever give John the credit he deserves… the man is a genius 🖤
John Mayer is one of the greatest guitar players I put him right up there with Jimi Hendrix
how about SRV?
Hendrix was from a different universe . Mayer is a great songwriter yes
It's 2021 and this man is still my celebrity crush... he's just aging like fine wine
Yes 👍🏽
He is fucking amazing He changes my days from bad to really good
i don't think i've ever seen john singing without a guitar strapped on him. and it was quite a LOL moment at the end of this vid to see him sing sans guitar.
ahhhhhhhhh but i love the man dearly
I wish he'd put this on rotation in his current setlist.
The lyrics are so pure and so true.
Right on, anyone who has studied ANYTHING related to music for more than a year knows JM has undeniable talent. Hate the guy all you want, either 1. you have no credentials to criticize or 2. you're just deaf. End of story.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen John Mayer play an SG.
Its feel like I’m there, and when the ‘directed by’ comes in, i just realize that the experience crowd has, soon will be memory, how beautifully sad that is.
John Mayer has really figured this love game out. It’s so true. We can take this to the bank. Thanks John. I love it. Love him
Perfect, He's my favourite singer.
Mine, too. Everyone always praises his guitar skills but his vocal tone is one of my favourites ever, aside from Michael buble and a few others
this is live man
it doesnt has to be perfect, he can try something if he wants to
if you disagree, just listen to the cd
Man i love this live version of this song.
i saw him play the night before this at a myspace secret show at the music hall of williamsburg (about 300-500 people capacity) and he was on FIRE and played for about 2 1/2 hours, giving it his all. i think he was probably a little fatigued vocally from that show, understandably. damn everybody know he´s a player but ugh he is sooo HOT.
Lmao love this performance! Not quite sure the ending worked out how they expected but I still love see him trying stuff out
I love his falsetto!!!!
1 of my fav song... 2019.. love from Indonesia..
Favorite one in the Battle Studies!!
I love John Mayer. That's all I need to say. Love, Ya'll. Love the moment. Love the world. Love yourself. Most importantly, I love myself. Peace dudes.

I don't think anything different is going on here and he sounds great!
I don’t think he does it on purpose, I just think he’s not a very good singer in general. But ur right it definitely still sounds really good lol
lol, this gig was brilliant. thanks to sqlife for uploading it. Sad that he played a free 2 hr gig, using songs from every stage of his carrer and ppl are still complaining, but what are you gonna do? it was wicked

This is just perfection
I watched this on TV, favorite artist!
He sounds almost exactly the same as the recording! True artistry :D

i was here, and it was amazing.
John Mayer is my favorite musician, I think his best song is "Vultures" I think appearances with BB King is the best.
I once heard a guitar teacher say that if you hit a bum note live, repeat it a few times. Sooner or later the audience will start believing it's meant to be there and it'll sound right.
Although, he might have just hit a bum note. Then hit it again.
He gave it all forsure. Wow
How can u not like this guy…
Vultures was good as always. but Slow Dancing is the climax of continuum. hope he plays it in future setlists.
Oh my god!!!
could it get any better ?!
John mayer is literally a guitar god. Lol.
because he was in his prime. After that he realised what he's done to everyone and began to decay. Til the day you saw Born and Raised. I'd say REborn and Reinvented.
Sensational. 🔥
sad to see JJ Johnson not playing anymore. loved his groove. not to say steve jordan is not gd. he's great
2:37 - best moment of the entire concert. :)
because he missed the right note there? :P
i was expecting assassins... anyway, thats amazing, and thank you for upload it!!
thanx for uploading it, sucks we couldnt see it in europe. But this isnt so bad :)
Genius! John is the one!
PERFECTION.
he's awsome!
This song is really relatable
thats Gibson SG looks and sounds incredible!
he had his brothers, steven and liv tyler, and kris allen at this concert, sweet!!

3:09 nice moves John! Hahahahaha! Love this man
This long outro reminds me of "Hey Jude".
the outro lyrics sound weird when John's not singing them. still they are great in the end with john's AWESOME ad libbing!
Mantab john mayer
@nthsieh928:

..........
my love
I wish i was there ! You can see his two brothers at 2:07, the one with the grey shirt and his other brother with the black one.
Damn what a catch
I think we can all agree that his voice is a little ropey at this gig, but his playing was, as ever, top notch
This guy has one of my favourite vocal tones ever.
2:08 Is that guy in the Blue botton down on the left Johns Brother Carl?
te amoooooooooooooooooooooooo
@bibbler227 nono
in 1961 the gibson Les paul SG was produced without les paul's consent, and hje hated the design and asked for his name to be removed from the guitar the same year, although the truss rod covers still had the Les Paul name until 63' and that marked the end of Les Paul's involvement with the company.
so it's still an SG, but its a Les Paul SG.
This.
What's up with the ending? Did John do some drinking before the show?
2019 😍😍😍
he's right!
can this get any more perfect ??
RAYOS... donde quedo la mitica stratocaster?¿?¿?¿?¿?
mayer es el maestro pero le hiso falta su hermosa stratocaster
hahaha he went fucking nuts during that.
@pedrobaumbach LOL,i thought charlie sheen was really there XD hahaha.true to ur statement though,he does look a lil like charlie sheen.
@trysmudford Its a Gibson Les Paul (: 60's or 70's edition
You think we'll never fall into, a jealous game!?!? The streets are flood with blood of those... Who felt the same!
Son niveau est affolant !
@ 2:05 about, you can see carl and ben mayer in the crowd... hillarious
This channel is mayertube😂👍👍👍👍
Thanks alot! Great concert. But IMO he should have played Slow Dancing In A Burning Room and Heart Of Life instead of Vultures and Belief
@Joeasis i think so too. especially the last part. sounds like "hey jude".
How do I get this whole show? I was there and it was SO special!
@HaruUnite Google Image search "John Mayer Gibson Les Paul", then search "John Mayer Gibson SG". You'll see.
@HaruUnite no, its definately an SG
Yea def Slow Dancing, but Vultures sounded amazing!
I think the end is known as a reprisal. its like a credit role for a gig, where the star walks of as the music plays. This track is perfect for an ending like that. I dont think he was walking off in a huff this was nice but I think I like the Trio better... bing a man and all ;)
mayer doe a joe cocker impression atb the end
I gave one up!!! A beautiful woman! Pheewww. wasn't easy
John was definately stoned at this performance.
He doesn't do drugs
Builderphill but he most definitely smoke weed
Who says I cant get stoned
ohmyafy Drunk for sure
@@builderphill1361 8 yeara ago he for sure did
Plays an SG when playing 'dont trust myself with loving you'...definately when he played it in european shows.
@tomasterrizzano That's not a SG. It's either a 61, 62, or 63 Les Paul.
the sound is bad because it was a live feed of the show and fuse apparently failed...
me caso!!... si me lo pide ...me caso
a little dramatic ending by JM, wouldnt you say? They shouldve stopped recording at 6:50. He goes a little coo-koo afer that but the man can play!
This song is combi of Let it be-The Beatles and The Weight
that was so sad when he left.
hahaha !
Mayer does a Joe Cocker impression at the end,-)
@trysmudford haha.nooo, its a 1961 vintage Gibson Les Paul (: go type this gutiar model and see for yourself(:
2:10 That’s John’s brother Carl in the crowd with the grey shirt
