it's laughable that current residents complain about noise

Back in the 90's this runway was less then a mile long, yet they had 707's and DC-8's fly into there. They even had a L-1011 on that short strip.......

There’s only two 727s based at the airport now and they are the oil spill response planes. These are now both 40 years old, previously flew for fed ex and were the last off the production line

Great footage there Robin! Love the JT8Ds! Nice buzz from the front then a thundering roar from behind!

Something unerves me with those overhead train cables on approach. However distance is hard to judge on tablets.

The wires are set as low as possible - as far as I am aware, nobody has tangled with them in 60 years. It is an incentive to get the approach right!

Those 727 really must have made the local residents angry, and they still complain about Ezy320s now.
    Great memories though.

At the time , there were only one or two jet arrivals or departures a week if we were lucky, not like the regular services we have at Southend today..

Brilliant, they all shook a few houses & rattled a good few windows too!

While I love the 727, it looks like you caught a very rare Bell 206LT at 1:22 . Not many of those were built / converted.

They look to be former Continental Airlines 727-200s. Nice up close video

I used to see a lot of Boxcars (Shorts) at LAX operated by Golden West Airlines, definitely the oddest PAv aircraft I'v know of. We see one pulling out of its gate about 2:30 along

What you see at 3:50 is a Short SC.7 Skyvan, even odder than the 330 'Sheds' and 360 'Super Sheds' operated by Golden West. I will do another video about these eventually.

Thanks for the information, the Short was about as airworthy as a large refrigerator cardboard box it would seem to the watcher on the ground. I would love to see a video covering the history of this crate. I have only seen them at LAX and that was decades ago. Never at ATL, JFK, SLC, DEN or PHX. It seemed as if this bizarre little aircraft was well suited to feeding PAs from small cities into LAX. I flew on Golden West from Ontario to Orange County, after fog made our Delta flight detour to ONT. it was slow and a little loud, that's all I recall. Your knowledge on all things that fly is amazing.
