      For me, this song distinctly reminds of a time I was out jogging just before sunrise in my home town. It was probably 15 degrees F outside, but there was absolutely no wind so it wasn't too cold to stop for a moment. There was a few inches of snow on the ground and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I stopped and listened to this song overlooking a frozen lake and it was like time was standing still.

      @@gabrielreinke8216 isn't music a beautiful thing? I've had similar almost life changing experiences listening to this song and others, it almost makes you feel like you're completely in control, all is well or good at least, and you can really think on a musical backdrop like this. One of the most thoughtful comments I've ever seen posted on a TH-cam video. Thank you.

    Whenever I stumble upon Boards Of Canada songs on youtube, they always seem to be accompanied by old archive footage from the mid-late 20th century....this may just be the best audio-visual combination ever created.

    I feel there's a beautiful contrast with Ready Lets Go... there's something gentle and infantile about the opening, like a confused and vulnerable child (in musical form) opening its weakling wings before the listener, unaware of the trials that await it. the closing track is so full of purpose and clarity in that purpose; an endless ascension beyond earthly fear.

  • @gadpivs

    Still one of my favorite tracks after all these years. What always astounded me about this one was that it sounds like "ambient music," but it also sounds like a distant plane flying overhead on a hot summer afternoon while you're lying on a blanket and looking up at the clouds. Like it literally sounds like someone said "You know that sound planes make when they're flying over you in the distance? Let's turn that into music."

  • @DaftPunkFan43v3r
    @DaftPunkFan43v3r 6 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    This track is truly the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I don't even have words to describe how it makes me feel.. I owe so much to this track and this album (and almost everything that BOC has ever done), it really changed the way I perceive music and some other things about life. In my opinion this album is the peak of thought-provoking and evocative music; after years I've never heard something as life changing as this album when it comes to music. In fact, no other artist has had such impact in my life with their music like the Sandison Brothers (only Aphex comes close in my repertory). Their music is truly unique.

    • @DaftPunkFan43v3r
      @DaftPunkFan43v3r 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Indeed. Once you understand their music it really captivates you like no other. They even helped me through rough times with their music, specially this album and all of their Old Tunes tapes (if you haven't listened to them yet then I recommend you their A Few Old Tunes tape, some of their most memorable tunes are in this tape like 5.9.78, Spectrum, Skimming Stones and some other tracks) and I'll always be grateful to them for that.
      I'm probably overreacting with this statement but I legit think that I wouldn't be the same person right now if it wasn't for some of their music. I Haven't found yet something as evocative as their music and I pretty much listen to a lot of other genres but still.. they're my top favorite artists.

    • @garymitrovic2503
      @garymitrovic2503 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DaftPunkFan43v3r not an overreaction at all; the power of music can do that to people. There is definitely that ethereal feeling when listening to BOC, their music seems to capture the human psyche.
      Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out. I've only really listened to Tomorrow's Harvest and Geogaddi extensively, you always pick up little things on their tracks with repeated listens. I'm just so glad I found them.

    This sounds like death in space; amongst foreign constellations, far from the bones of your ancestors and mother Gaia herself... your exploration days have finally come to an end. In the cold darkness of space, egalitarian in its silent hostility to life, your mortal form returns to the cosmic dust from whence it came.
    Matter is preserved, the cycle complete. We hope you enjoyed your time here with us.

    listening to this evokes memories of being young and lying out on the grass in the summer, when the days were endless, just silence, the birds tweeting and the noise of a plane taking off from nearby glasgow airport. To create this imagery, nostalgia and atmosphere and compress it into one song is nothing short of genius.

    There’s a reason I feel music like this resonates with people so strongly despite being so simple, and that’s because of the drone effect. If you listen to most tribal music, no matter where on earth is was made there’s a good likelihood that there will be a droning note underlying it. That’s what things like bagpipes, didgeridoos, throat singers, chanting, etc have such a visceral, spiritual feel to them, there’s always an underlying drone note that elevates them in the human psyche.

    At the dusk of time, I, a small dot reached the edge. I have re-ached the place wheere the line blurs, werhe the imposible is possi-sible. This is the place where everything exists, where time is not time, where space is not space. There is beaty, more than the eye can hold; all the good and bad, beautiful and hideous, serene and sinister coexist, suspended in nothing and everything; you may not see one, for one is all. I am pleased to advanced thus far, but I know I can not go further. For matter of mortal material like me and the ship I'm in can not grasp such concept, they do not possess the power, they do not posess the processing to distinguish true and fake, self and others. The cosmos is unstable, and so are we now. We're becoming one, we're becoming all. Because, one and all has no memory of self and others. All that exist in H$#e that (as a )#rpo(se #$ the memory remaining on us mortals; and that is

    @smokedog901 to experience nostalgia you must experience the original form of it to begin with, this isn't nostalgia if you weren't old enough to remember it in the 70's/80's. if that's the case then it's not nostalgia, it's retro.
    either way it's fucking awesome. This has to be one of my favorite BoC tracks ever. rock this at sunset on a lit-up sky. It's amazing.

    @jdoggybizzle He meant this song gives him a sense of nostalgia. retro is an out of date style. It seems that alot of people get a sense of nostalgia when listening to BoC. That is what makes them such an original band. Its like they are masters of getting into your sub-concious with music.
