- In this taming guide, I show you how to tame a Megalodon. They aren't all that difficult to tame with how slow they are relative to other swimming creatures, but they can be a nuisance none-the-less. I talk about 3 different ways that should make knocking one out easier. The first is just running and gunning with a crossbow until it gets knocked out. The second is enclosing yourself in a box made up of door frames and ceilings. The Third is making a giant cage to trap the Megalodon in.

Due to an update changing taming times, times and quantity of food mentioned during that section are approximately halved.
Patch 316.18 on Nov. 7, 2020 added a bleed effect to Megalodon bite attacks and added a pack bonus which adds damage reduction and damage increase based on the number of members in the pack.

Taming one was soooo easy for me. I had a lake that was pretty shallow, I was surprised to see a Megalodon in it. I guess it was lured in by something it was chasing but darn I am not complaining since it was a level 250 and it was beautiful.

I found a level 120 meg in the ocean not to far from home when i was riding my baryonyx.
So i started tranqing it, hit and run style and it got knocked out so it was pretty easy.
R.I.P Berry (Baryonyx) He was such a good addition to the team, only for him to fell in the lava.

I was in the south of the island when I saw a 130 megalodon in the very shallow parts and it couldnt move that all so all I did was just tranq it and tamed easily

go to the rockpools on rag near viking bay, there should be some aquatic dinos stuck in the pools. just knock em out, tame em and with some work u can get them out.

My mega leaves to go on a killing spree for other megs then comes back and almost dies
I need some help, what water tame should I go for first I have a raft with plant species and a ballista with a catching cage that can catch things about the size of a meg if not a bit bigger, what spots are safest to start in the water caves? Any info helps

I have been lucky with all Three Meg tames. Two stalked me whilst I swam unaware of what was trying to kill me and the Third was busy stalking some herbivores, when I snuck up on it with my Tranq crossbow. Most challenging part for me is keeping them alive and safe from other Megs. ✌️ 😅

These guys have so much torpor... I remember wasting a ton of resources making 15 tranq spear bolts (it was something like 250 metal), and they weren't enough to pass out a lvl 120 megalodon that I found. Never tried to tame another since.

I tamed a lvl 30 meg. I used exceptional kibble and it gained +14 lvl. And by pure luck, it has bleeding effect on it's bite.
They all get the gnashed ability once tamed.

I tame a mega today it was easy I didn’t put anything around I just put fish meat I tamed but am a level away from it saddle so I built a pin in the water made of wood but it can’t fit through the gate so I need a bigger but it cost a lot of emgram edit: I i didn’t even use a trap for it it was easy idk why you need trap you can tranq it out before it gets plus stay near shallow

I literally just found a megalodon in shallow water, used a bow with tranq arrows to knock it out, then killed a low level argentinosaur to get prime meat and used that to tame it
So i just watched a video made by ai and it's about sharks eating spaghetti and it made me want to tame a meg

When I tamed one I had literally no plan. I swam around on my beezlebufo and shot it until it was sleeping then I fed it raw meat.

Real life hours, and 6.5 hour if you use the worst taming food. I just sat 30 minutes taming a Argentavis, pretty much the second flyer everyone goes for so you can imagine the harder ones.
Can I use a Sarco? Or the Giant Alligators?
You can but just make sure you have some speed upgraded and make sure you keep an eye on the oxygen. They can fit through a behemoth gateway so I suggest making one just left of the one you are bringing the megalodon Through. Make sure the megalodon doesn't follow you through the 2nd behemoth gate. Hope this helps. I wouldn't recommend them tho. I used an ichty

Bro the first time I played ARK I killed a Megalodon with a stone pickaxe on my 2nd attempt 💀 (keep in mind I was playing casual on easy difficulty so it's not that big of a deal 🤷♂️)

I tamed a megladon twice with saddle cause i was excited new sea creature and not just ichthy and u was like yeah and then manta and then again yeah and then manta i cant clear up the space and then i realised i needed i higher level not just 7 or 13 so i went out to find a lvl 22 with 1350 health and a lvl 30 with normal 500 or 750 health and it was hard to decide when there we’re literally 12 megs 14 mantas and fishies we’re blocking my way when i tried to kill the mantas and stuff i have a bary but no saddle and im afraid it might die and my kapraschus died easily to the manta i am happy to finally live with my megladon in peace thank you (this is my story)
