Nice. I need to do this to a Mercedes diff. I have been having the same thing happen lately. Wear bearings are supposed to fit but are slightly different. Aftermarket qaulity continues to go down.
I noticed that you did not replace the pinion support bearing. I use the solid spacer. 👍 Did you mention the oreload amount? I removed the factory 2 spider traction lock and installed an Eaton TrueTrak. Its agressive😲 BTW Mine is also a 77 Cobra 2 with a 3.50 gear. NOTE that any gear ratio that is divisible by .25 requires timing of the ring and pinion gear. Thats because the same teeth always match together at every rotation, not randomly. Ring and pinion teeth are marked for timing by the manufacturer. Compare a 3.50 (35/10) to a 3.55 (32/9).. the 355 develops random tooth wear patterns, the 350 is repetitive.
@@hotrodray6802 I didn’t explain certain aspects as this was not a video about doing a gear swap as there is plenty other videos about that. I was just showing what it takes to fit this aftermarket traction lock diff.
He is driving it now and leaving two black lines. It didn't need any disassembly. He installed it using some Royal Purple gear oil as it says it's suitable for limited slip differentials. It is a little groany when warm and turning in a parking lot. He is seeing if it quiets down after more break-in before adding any friction modifier to it. It's not annoying or anything. Just not 100% silent.
Internet is full of stories of shops that can't get that assembly done correctly. Props man.
I had no idea. I just made it work with the parts on hand.

How it holding up? I was told you need to open the unit and soak the clutch plates in friction modifier?

thank you from the states... where did you escape to?
I’m in England. I’ll be back in the states in a few years. This place gets on my nerves almost every day.
