It is clear, at least to me, that you’re true aviation enthusiasts, the research, the airline history, and the aircraft design theories. Another well presented trip report.
Thank you so much! I would definitely consider myself a true aviation enthusiast!
Fantastic tripreport as always! Its nice seeing these old A340s still flying around.
Thank you so much! Yeah it is!
Nice mate! Those views coming in to land were pretty epic! I'll have to chase one of these A343s before they're retired.
Hello mate! How are ya Paul Stewart!
Thank you! Yeah they were! You should, they’re quite an interesting planes.
The info about the aircraft is brilliant. Being an avgeek, there are things about the A340 that I didn't know. The service on your flight was amazing.
I'm happy to hear that! Yeah it was!
Great trip report! I've flown on Swiss A340 twice BOS-ZRH back in 2008 and 2009, lots of happy memories!
Thank you! Awesome!
8:37, Even if you don't talk too much, no it's good, talk about history of airline and aircraft type information is fun, I like it and enjoy it, thanks for sharing.
Awesome! I’m happy to hear that, thanks for sharing! You’re welcome
I like Premium Economy very much because it features more spacious seating configurations, better seat amenities, earlier boarding, better in-flight meals, and more miles and points than Economy Class.
For seating configurations, Premium Economy is commonly configured with a 2-3-2 or 2-4-2 layout, while Economy Class is 3-3-3 or 3-4-3. For seat amenities, Premium Economy features Universal Power Outlets and USB ports, a foot-rest or leg-rest, larger entertainment screen, and better reclining, while Economy Class features USB ports, regular recline, and a smaller entertainment screen. For boarding, passengers in Premium Economy board the aircraft earlier than those in Economy Class because a growing number of airlines are introducing group boarding to make boarding faster, which makes boarding only possible after my boarding group is called. For in-flight meals, Premium Economy passengers can select a wide variety of in-flight meals from the menu, while those in Economy Class only have one to two meal options per meal. For miles and points, passengers in Premium Economy mostly receive more miles and points than those in Economy Class.
Yeah that makes sense. I have yet to try Premium Economy!
Great video best one so far
Thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear you think so!
Wow and impressive economy product, I must say 👌👌👌👌👌
Yeah, it was overall very good.
thats a LOT of food on that flight! awesome :)
Yeah haha. Thanks!
Great Video , a lot of interesting Informations ! Thank you !
Thank you! You’re very welcome! :D
I love the lore you give before the flight! Keep doing it!
Thank you! I’m happy to hear it!
Great review🎉 happy to support you
Thank you so much :)
What a great channel to watch. Don’t hesitate, just subscribe!
Thank you so much :D
A very nice and entertaining review, also very informative
Thank you so much! I’m happy to hear you think so!
Great review mate lucky to be able to fly on an A340
Thank you! Yeah I was very lucky :D
Great video mate!
Cheers 🥂 here’s to the SWISS A340-300 sadly I’ll never reach Zürich and fly SWISS 🇨🇭before this lovely bird is retired! 😢
-Caleb’s Aviation
Thank you! 🥂 hopefully there’ll still be a couple airlines operating it for a few years to come.
@@Aviation763 I hope so!
I’ve watched a few of your travel logs now and I’m really impressed!
Great work young fella!
Swiss service looked really good compared to Qantas.
Thank you so much! I’m happy to hear that. Yeah, not that Qantas is much of a benchmark for service 😂
ty for the good review, seems like the crew members took care of everyone.
You’re welcome! Yeah they really did!
@@Aviation763 awesome
Nice review mate
Thank you!
Great review.
Thank you!
Congrats!!!
And this is a first trip report on long haul, wait for more!!!
His video is nice, make more!!!
Thank you so much! It’s not my first long haul review, but it’s the first to Europe and the longest flight I’ve reviewed!
Great review Hugo, the opportunities to fly on the A340 seem to becoming increasingly rare thesedays! Maybe you should try SAA Perth to Joburg whilst they still are operating the A340!
Thank you! Yeah, I’d love to do that!
I like the informative part of the review. Compared to my pre-pandemic Lufthansa flights to/from PVG, this one seems to have a bit more snack service, which is great. At the moment, however, I still prefer to spend at least an hour less on mainland Chinese airlines when flying economy between China and Europe.
Thank you, I’m happy to hear that! Thanks for sharing, that’s I interesting. Yeah makes sense, especially considering how expensive SWISS is and how cheap Chinese airlines can be, and China Southern for example is a great airline.
I can't believe you stay awake for the whole flight, I was surprised that you didn't sleep on the plane on a long haul flight, even though it's a daytime flight, that's okay if you want to stay awake. Wow, you sleep really well in the hotel in Shanghai last night (Did you stay in the Renaissance hotel in Shanghai?). Hope you have a good rest and sleep after your long exhausting flight.
Avgeeks don’t sleep
Yeah haha, I rarely sleep on day flights, no matter how long they are. Yes I did, and I will review some time in the future, how did you know that…? Thanks, but I still had another 2 flights to catch after this before I could sleep 😂
I see, nice okay. You stay in the hotel for 1 night for your good long sleep in Shanghai after your long trip from Melbourne.
How did you know I was staying at the Renaissance though? 😂
Noel Philips stay in Renaissance hotel in Shanghai for 24 hour transit visa.
I feel like this route is has a more premium demand. When I took the Swiss A343 for ORD - ZRH, they told me ice cream is only served on flights departing from ZRH, no mid flight snack was available except for leftover bread from the dinner service, and the pre landing 'meal' was a orange juice cuplet (the type served in American public schools) and yogurt.
Yeah maybe, I’m guessing there’d be a fair bit of business traffic. ORD-ZRH is a fair bit shorter though but you’d think you’d still get a second full meal.
@@Aviation763 Ikr, maybe not a second meal since it isn't common for such flights, but at least something solid for a pre-landing snack would have been reasonable.
Nice to see you spreading your wings beyond asia and headed to europe on new carriers with new adventures!
Think I last flew the LX A340 near 20 years ago! Lol I think HKG-ZRH. Looks like the Biz product hasn't changed either from the quick glimpse! Lol
Tge servuce in Y seems actually quite umpressive I think with many small elements that I think added to the overall experience - even if the food taste was not that great.
Looking forward to where and what you fly next.
Thanks haha, it was awesome to see some other airlines and places. Wow! Yeah it appears to be the same Business class design, just a new seat. Yeah it was quite impressive in many ways. Thank you!
Hey Hugo 👋
I'm sure you didn't need to speed up the train journey at 300kmh lol 😂
I actually enjoy train journeys 👍
Again a very informative report on the airport 👌
I never realised that Lufthansa owns Swiss.
Hahaha 😂 4 hairdryers, Love it😂
Thanks for the info on the A340 and Swiss. Very lucky to be able to fly it. As most were parked permanently during the covid period. And yeah, all the videos I have seen have been long takeoffs and slow climbs.
Snacks and Dinner 🍽 looked awesome 👌 pity it wasn't tasty.
Service was great by the look of it. Thanks for this trip report and look forward to your next upload 👋
Hey! Thank you so much! Hahaha, it takes a bit for it to get to 300kmh tho. I’m glad to hear that! 😂. I was very lucky to be able to fly on it!
very nice review I like that you share every detail and you showed snack bar well done to you please make more and also make business class
Thank you so much! I’m happy to hear that! I will make more, including business class but most of my reviews are in economy class and I doubt that will change, as I can’t afford business class and most people fly in economy anyway. I’ll still do some Business Class reviews, and I have a few up on my Channel already :D
@@Aviation763 its ok so try AIRFRANCE, ITA AIRWAYS, British,
@@Aviation763 its fine make with BA,LH,and ita airways
I love planes but im afraid of flying. Im ok when on there but the fear is before the flight and actually going on the plane. How do you survive these massive journeys?
I’m sorry about that. I don’t have a fear of flying, but especially on long flights I just try to drink enough water and get up from my seat every once in a while.
the a340 only lifts into the air, because the earth is round. 😛
😂
I Have Some Fligth On A340-300 Whit SAS.Great Video And Info
Awesome! Thank you!
Did you get to do the Lindt factory tour while in Zurich?
I was only there for transit, so no I didn’t but I’d like to one day!
The service is way better than British Airways on their PVG-LHR route:
Only 2 meal services and one drink service
Yeah I got fed very well!
Nice Flight Report Aviation! I'm might start making flight report videos like u, can u give me some tips?
Thank you! Cool! I don’t really have many sorry, but the main one would be don’t expect it to be easy, it’s hard for small channels to grow on YT. Also find what works for you, it’s good not to do the exact same thing as other TH-camrs.
Oh, ok, thanks Aviation!
Thanks for the informative Video. I just flew this bird from Zurich to Shanghai in first. It was amazing. There’s a report on my channel as well in case you’re interested!
You’re very welcome! Sounds incredible!
DAMN YOU BEAT ME TOO IT AGAIN!!!!
LUKE LMAO.
😂
Loved the hairdryer joke 🤪
I’m glad 😂
Its not the longest….. ICN-ZRH is a little bit further i think, but still an awesome journey
No, it’s still the longest by a tiny bit, if it wasn’t for EU airlines avoiding Russian airspace ICN-ZRH might be a bit longer but for now PVG-ZRH is still the longest.
The longest A340-300 flight is not Shanghai-Zurich. it's Seoul/Incheon-Zurich.
If it wasn’t for EU airlines avoiding Russian Airspace then ICN/ZRH might be the longest, but for now PVG-ZRH is still the longest by a little bit.
3:53, Wow. It's almost similar to my China Eastern, Boeing 777-300ER that I flew last June from Shanghai to London, it's almost a full flight, my flight to London is okay, 11 and a half hours, they have in flight entertainment TV, it's responsive and they universal power outlet, which is good on a long haul flight, but the cabin is hot because there is no air vent. 10:35, The in flight entertainment TV is similar and identical to China Eastern, Boeing 777-300ER, but the in flight entertainment TV map (not interactive unfortunately), TV remote and cup holder is different to your flight. Also, my ticket is more cheaper than your ticket, last June, 1 way, I flew China Eastern from Ho Chi Minh to London via Shanghai (my 1st flight is operated by the Airbus A330-300 (B-8972) in the newer cabin and the flight is okay, 3 and a half hour red eye flight, but it's uncomfortable because the seatbelt sign is on for the whole flight, but some passengers, including me use the lavatory, even though there is no turbulence and my 2nd flight is mention above) for $390 USD and it's very cheap. 16:10, You mention your flight is full, so that's the reason it why climb a little slow.
Interesting, thanks for sharing! I’ve been on several full flights before that climbed a lot quicker than on this flight. It would have something to do with being extra heavy, but it would still climb slower than other planes.
I see.
There are not many chances now to fly A340 and Swiss treated you well with all chocolates. Never been treated so many of chocolates onboard
Yeah! I was very lucky hahah
Shouldn't you be in school?!?!? 🤔😊
True but he is 15 or 16 so not school
Home school :)
The Caucasian privilege of it all.
5APU
?
@@Aviation763a nickname for a340-200/300 on China Internet, a343 uses cfm56 engine which is used by 737/a320s. a343’s each engine has very weak power compared to other wide body jets, such as the b777. Cuz of this, Chinese people describes a343’s 4 engine as “4 apus”, combining the one apu the aircraft itself has, chinese people calls a343 as “5apu” as a sarcasm to mock this aircraft.
Amazing
Thanks!
How lucky to fly the A340, it’s my dream aircraft to fly
Yeah I was very lucky to be able to fly on it. I hope you can too!
