This pitch meeting is some of your finest work, in an already excellent catalogue. One of the things I loved about this movie was the climactic battle at the end, with the sharks swirling around in the tornado eating people, and then - when the hero kills them with a handgun - falling out of the tornado. As if they had been intentionally flying whilst alive.
I found the best way to watch Sharknado was to FF right over all the talky talk and get right to the attack scenes. Much shorter movie and I lolled out loud laughingly.
My son is autistic and is doing extended school year online. He was doing math problems on Zoom with his class and said to his teacher that the problems were "super easy, barely an inconvenience." At times he would throw in a "yeah yeah yeah yeah."
Making pitch meetings for all the Sharknado movies would be tight. Also, I'm so glad you finally did a pitch meeting for Sharknado - if any film deserved the pitch meeting treatment, it was this film. Made me so happy to see this in recently uploaded.

They increasingly lean into the stupidity as they go from sequel to sequel and somehow it ends up very entertaining. Especially how sharknadoes are just a thing that happens regularly after this, with all of humanity kinda just uniting in hatred against the apocalyptic shark menace.

One positive from 2020 is there was a Sharknado marathon on TV so I watched the entire series. May never have even watched the first one otherwise. The over-the-top events in these movies were a great stress-reliever. Would love to see Ryan do pitch meetings for other movies in the franchise when things get really crazy.
He could also have had it be reviewed by a guy who was peeing, and then it would have been peer reviewed. And it's not perfect, but he could also have had it reviewed by a peeping tom, and then it would be peerer reviewed.
I've often wondered if at the Syfy channel they occasionally get an actually good script on their desk and the executive is like "well, yeah, it's pretty good but where's the humiliation for everyone involved?"
Seeing Matt Layer getting eaten as Al Rocker was trying to kill the shark was worth the whole movie sequels right there! All Roker's "sharknado" forecasts was my ultimate favorite bit from the entire series.
@Ridwan Ademola it depends on the question. If someone asked what is the probability that she was in the shark then it is 50/50. She either is or isn't. But when you ask what are the chances of finding the exact same shark that she was swallowed by, then you consider all the other sharks.
Without prior knowledge, the only unbiased choice is indeed 50/50 - we might however use Bayesian statistics to infer better estimates by chainsawing a few more sharks

This is one of my favorite intros to a Pitch Meeting. Screenwriter guy getting so excited is so funny. I like how Ryan doesn’t dwell on it, like Screenwriter guy saying “I thought you were going to reject me!” Or something. He just gets excited, and that’s enough to get the joke across. It’s really tight writing, really well executed.

Gods what a weird movie. There's also this subplot of a group of tourists watching the people being killed like it's a tv show or an experiment, until the tire starts killing them as well. Or something like that, it's been a while since I watched it.

Seeing Matt Layer getting eaten as Al Rocker was trying to kill the shark was worth the whole movie sequels right there! All Roker's "sharknado" forecasts was my ultimate favorite bit from the entire series.

@Ridwan Ademola it depends on the question. If someone asked what is the probability that she was in the shark then it is 50/50. She either is or isn't. But when you ask what are the chances of finding the exact same shark that she was swallowed by, then you consider all the other sharks.
Without prior knowledge, the only unbiased choice is indeed 50/50 - we might however use Bayesian statistics to infer better estimates by chainsawing a few more sharks

This is one of my favorite intros to a Pitch Meeting. Screenwriter guy getting so excited is so funny. I like how Ryan doesn’t dwell on it, like Screenwriter guy saying “I thought you were going to reject me!” Or something. He just gets excited, and that’s enough to get the joke across. It’s really tight writing, really well executed.
