condensors serve no purpose on reciprocating piston engines intended for running on high pressure steam.
one. they produce a VACUUM in the cylinder. rather than a force PUSHING on it, you have a mere 14.7 psi at best of atmospheric pressure acting on the other side of the piston. aka "newcommen" or "watts" atmospheric steam engine... extremely inefficient. very low power outputs.
two, by producing a vacuum in the cylinder, on the exhaust stroke, rather than compress the remaining contents, to fill the clearance volume, so fresh entering steam isnt wasted in filling it, theres nothing in there to compress... so on every stroke, a large proportion of steam is wasted in doing nothing but filling this clearance volume.
leaving the fins on the cylinder just promotes condensation in the cylinder, with inevitable loss of power... the standard method is to at least insulate them, better yet, steam jacket them, or place them within the boiler/furnace itself. its called "rejected heat".
and finally, steam itself is a dead-end of inherent inefficiencies, mostly due to the latent heat of phase change. the energy required to take it from boiling to actual steam cannot be recovered. yes, you can preheat the feed water to a degree, yes, you can preheat the air for the furnace, but you still can never reclaim 80% of the energy used in boiling that water. its gone. no matter what you do. thats ignoring the losses in the boiler, in the pipework, etc... no steam engine can ever beat 12% efficiency, give or take.
on a small scale, with plenty of alternatives, steam is a dead end, a waste of time. better to look at ericsson/brayton cycles, far superior implementations of the "stirling engine".
i give credit for trying, and getting one to run, but really, if you had any idea about teh physics of steam, you would know its utterly pointless.
unless you are trying to drive a 5MW+ generator... in which case its main benefit is that its relatively compact as compared to anything relying on hot air... at that point, its about the only reasonable solution.

Your design of a single-piston steam engine is awe-inspiring. Everything was carefully thought out and checked, you even installed a safety valve and lubrication of the cylinder, piston and timing mechanism. You have soldered six rectifier diodes correctly and constructed a three-phase rectifying bridge, because the BLDC motor generates three phases in the generator function.
    Congratulations and best regards 😀.

I want to see the actually Voltage/Amperage/Wattage that something like this produces. Still, really nice work! I think I'd want the heaviest flywheel possible to keep the power a little more even but if you're hooking up anything that needs clean power you'll probably have to add a battery of some kind into the mix- maybe it doesn't matter. I love any form of DIY energy production! I think hydroelectric is my favorite means of producing power in a 'green' way, though it requires being near a continuous flow of water, or tide/wave generators which requires being on the Coast, preferably in a place where the tides are more pronounced than average.

In a cabin in the woods type situation thus would be great. You could make it a permanent installation by placing a boiler in the house (fireplace) obviously with the right precautions like a blow off valve or two, directed outside set for a safe pressure. And place your little genny in the shed. I recon it would work very well supplying light and charging small batterys ect, all while keeping the cabin warm.
