Based on some of your reactions it looks like some of you did NOT see the Lies of P episode! 😂👇 th-cam.com/video/xDPfB-xD2sk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lEotRl3yr913lSYk
In all seriousness, hearing the transition in your videos from “my girlfriend” to “my fiancée” to “my wife” AND THEN HEARING YOU’RE HAVING A KID is beautiful. Congratulations Monty :]
What makes Astro Bot so great is that not only is he a celebration of everything PlayStation both franchises and hardware, but if you take all that out, make him just a regular cute robot and his generic friends in a spaceship, you are still left with absolutely phenomenal 3d platforming and adorably beautiful environments.
Just came home from an Astrobot hunt and legit, no one has a copy to sell me. Every game store and big box retailer is completely sold out. Even in the next town over, they're sold out! And honestly, I think that speaks to how good the game is (which makes me more excited to finally play the full game).
20:00 Another thing to note about the boss design here is that the bell has red eyes. It's not just an object, it's an enemy. Your wife picked up on it immediately that "it has red eyes, I need to hit it/kill it" so the bell having those red eyes is a nice way of diageticaly signposting where to hit. Pretty subtle and cool design. Love this game, and love this video/video series for showcasing a play tester's point of view!
"Astrobots don't grow little Astrobots in their tummy that are currently kick"... Wait a second... The lore deepens! Congrats to you, Monty🎉 And the Noobus too, of course 🎉
I remember an interview with Team Asobi where they said they wanted to improve on Astro’s Playroom by making the gimmicks actually incorporated into the platforming. While the power ups in playroom did demonstrate the dualsense well, they did often break the pace, as good as that game was. They don’t do that here though. You know how I know that? Because I would play a platformer that was solely based on Every. Single. Power up. Here. And the fact that some of them are only used once, gives you a game that literally NEVER gets old throughout the entire journey.
12/10 editing in part 5, absolutely loved it. It was also so fun to see how much the Noobus seemed to enjoy this one, definitely encouraged me to pick up the game!
this game is such an utter delight. There are just too many people in the world determined to be negative about things it's astounding. I'm glad you guys had fun and congratulations to you both on the upcoming child.
I think the only time I clicked faster on a video was when your Soma essay dropped. Can't wait to see what the Noobus thinks of Astro Bot. Love your videos Monty and wish you and the Noobus all the best! ❤
I'm going through a rough patch and this game is just pure unadulterated joy. I thought I had grown out of platformers since I've been only enjoying narrative driven or multiplayer games for like 2 decades but since I quite enjoyed Astro's Playroom I bought Astro Bot on launch, first game I do this in a couple of years. I'm glad I did because I often realized I was smiling while playing it, just fun for the sake of fun, and I was really taking it in and taking my time so it would last as long as possible. Spent 20 hours to platinum it and it's one of the most well spent money in years for me. I hope it succeeds and we not only get more Astro Bot stuff but other similar games too from Playstation Studios.
2:36 "astrobots dont grow little astrobots in tummies that are currently kicking" Congratulations! :D In 5 years there will be a new sersies, Noobus Humanus jr.? I made my kid play ...
I love this series as it's everything I love about good game design. Veterans and Noobs should be able to enjoy the same games at their own skill levels. I have grown up on Playstation games and it was so fun to see the call backs but also have an Astro Bot take on them. My fiance doesn't know many of the Playstation IPs and yet loves to watch me play the game and gets excited by ever new special bot I find. I have genuinely enjoyed every second of Astro Bot. Levels are challenging while being entirely beatable, controls are so intuitive that every mistake feels soley my own fault and so much thought and care has gone into every aspect of this game. Making the hint bird accessible but also not forced on you, control prompts being noninvasive but easily understandable and so much more! I find myself sitting staring at the game at times just enjoying the music and visuals. 10/10 highly recommended game for sure
Was so stoked to see you do Astro Bot as part of this series. I’m not into platformers but this was the most delightful thing I’ve played this year and I’m determined to get the Platinum! PS. I love the way you edited the triangle void level section too 🤭
OMG YALL ARE HAVING A KIDDO!!!! 💜💜💜💜 CONGRATULATIONS!!! I've been following since the first Noobus Humanus and omg I'm so happy to have been on this ride, I'm so happy for you both!!! Sweetest of blessings and a Ka Pai (good job!) from a kiwi witch 💜
i jsut saw that you are missing the 4 extra bots you get if you find them first in astros playroom so all in all its 305 to find ^^ and i love your videos kind of reviews to all these i made her play xyz you two are great!
This series is absolute gold! Thank you for continuing to post these! I've seen other "impersonators" but the chemistry between you and your wife cannot be duplicated. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! I cannot wait for the next series to arrive "I made my son/daughter play..." OR "My son/daughter kicked my butt at..." Super excited for you both! PS. Your editing skills and script writing has greatly improved since the first video in this series. It was so easy to watch, the flow was mesmerizing and clean. Great job!
I love that you made this video. Astro is so under appreciated, especially the music. There was this one song from astros playroom from the gpu jungle that was so good
This year in gaming may have been…weird. But it gave me two of my favorite video games of all time. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and this so honestly I can’t really be too mad.
This video was so much fun! I have to get my sister to play Astro Bot and see what she thinks. I'm loving each galaxy and how unique they all are. Playing a new cutting edge 3D platformer in 2024 just brightens my mood.
Look, I never got the chance to play many video games as a kid, but as someone who was always online anyway, I'd become vaguely familiar (but not nearly an expert). I moved in recently with some roommates who collected PS consoles and grew up on the games, and I had sat in on a few sessions of their playthrough of the game... I might not have understood everything, but it was still a really good time! That little guy is so rad and appealing, I think he's the perfect place for new PS fans to start!
Already seen this early on account of the Patreon, but dropping a comment to boost the video! This was a REALLY fun video. It was great to see Noobus REALLY get into this game. You don't have to make a video on it if you don't want to, but I think that she might enjoy APE OUT. It has a diferent vibe than AstroBot, but it's simple mechanical nature and exciting gameplay might appeal to her. It's a short game with BEAUTIFUL art and a top-tier reactive soundtrack. It is top-down, and quite arcady. It has a VERY simple combat system that's easy to pick up, but it remains challenging. And to top it off, it has one of THE BEST ENDINGS to ANYTHING I've ever played or seen. DEF check it out. And if you haven't played it... Check it out, too!
This was lovely to watch. It's such a great game. I wish you would have let her play the Mouse Level where she shrinks, she would have loved that.😅 Or the Rapping tree that he tells you to get in his mouth.😂
Mr Monty! I implore you to have your wife experience SOMA alongside you. Your video essay was absolutely magnificent and I’m extremely curious how she will tackle the existential crisis coaster that is SOMA!
For this guy's wife The one you got from the start of the video is Psycho Mantis. He's a boss from Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. His whole boss fight is that he breaks the fourth wall by reading your memory card and makes your controller vibrate, and you have to plug in your controller to port 2.
I did not care about the nostalgia…except for that ape escape level…that got me, it was just great on it’s own, that could have been 300 plain white astrobots to rescue and I would have still loved it.
As a 16 year old "idk who the fuck that is" was my reaction to 99% of the references lol. I was happy to see Connor from DBH and also that Loco Roco level brought a tear to my eye as I used to play it when I was little on the PSP
Yeah, my gf loves every second of Astro Bot, has no clue about any of the references. As gar as she's concerned those are all just astro bot characters....and she's loving it
Anyone who says it is only good because of nostalgia either hasn't played it or is lying to themselves. The game is a masterpiece of level and game design.
I streamed my whole astrobot play through on my twitch I still need to 100% the trophies but I did get all 300 plus the parabola onion on the rage inducing Master stage. I cannot wait to get all the trophies. :)
7:00 - If she’s just getting acquainted with “slapformers,” it might be a good time to introduce her to “Thank Goodness You’re Here.” Or, it might not…
Based on some of your reactions it looks like some of you did NOT see the Lies of P episode! 😂👇

Absolutely! That was my thought when I heard her talking about the little one kicking in her tummy 🥰
Yes! Best wishes to the whole, lovely family 😊🥰🥳
8 years from now... "I made my son play Red Dead Redemption 3!"
@omgilovesteak6484 that's what I was thinking too 😂

Honestly it's great to have a AAA game come out that's just trying to make people have fun, on top of being adorable and completely innocent

That's good to hear. I saw copies in my local Walmart and I was worried.
Accidentally double jumping off that armadillo was something I only did about a 2 dozen times myself. 💙

this game (especially the entire finale sequence) was enough to make a grown man with bills upon bills just cry 😭
oh, the fight at the end was peak, and the fake out ending did cause a tingle on me
Been gaming 30+ years and AstroBot is seriously among the GOAT's
yep
this game is such an utter delight. There are just too many people in the world determined to be negative about things it's astounding. I'm glad you guys had fun and congratulations to you both on the upcoming child.
I love how the name of the last part is also the name of the track that plays during the challenge levels.

20:20 there’s also a bit of unnatural shininess on the bell after the energy waves are over to draw your attention.
You should try Nine Sols! Considering she liked hollow knight but had issues with sekiro, it would be interesting to see what she thinks of it.
That was a lovely little romp.
Your wife is officially better at video games than DarksydePhil
I love that Astro Bot proves that companies BESIDES Nintendo can make fun and whimsical 3D Action Platformers. We need more like Astro Bot

Sorry about so many comments, I just love Astro Bot so much! I hope I’m not bothering.

Glad you let your wife play this game. Game's a wholesome, heckin cute game.

Your accents are lovely, and congrats on the little one coming soon!
"Uh, well, he killed his dad" lmao great video. I've spoiled myself a little by watching this but im nearly finished with the game anyways
This is what Astro Bot is about. Btw she really was in need of learning the charged spin😂.
Yet another amazing video... Cant wait to see the noobus travel west and explore wukong....

Love to see the GPU singing in that last part!
I wonder how many more of these fabulous series of “making” your wife play would take before we all realize that she is no longer a noob…
Yeah, my gf loves every second of Astro Bot, has no clue about any of the references. As gar as she's concerned those are all just astro bot characters....and she's loving it

Super Mario Galaxy looking different lol ( I like the game i just am making a comparison)
Aaaaaw, Daddy Zander inc! ❤
😂😂😂 your wife is hilarious lol I'm glad she enjoyed the game

I played my astro wife play bot
Ahh yes, bot, my favorite game
Can we agree that the GPU song is one of the greatest videogame bangers ever written?
I would’ve killed to see her try Splashing Sprint lol
This video should be seen by the matroska's creator... your wife is one of the few people I think would be afraid of them :d
