But my god if that wasn't a shocking scene and tbh now I'm disappointed it didn't actually happen either, even though it would've completely flipped the storyline on its head.
Homelander isn't supposed to be a genius. He's just a lost broken person with family issues & incredible superpowers. People have been manipulating and using him his entire life, so it kinda makes sense to me.
and season 2 is kinda like homelander getting really confused and emotional and soft because of everything he found out and his son rejecting him and everything too which I find is great
Agreed. By far my biggest issue with this review. Homelander was NEVER at any point portrayed as a "diabolical, evil, master-mind, genius". He was always portrayed as an over powdered psychopath. That's it. Even when his moves seemed calculated, they showed in season 1 that it was Mallory pulling his strings. I wouldn't care about this so much if it wasn't for the fact that he called out Antony Starr. Antony was phenomenal this season. Like, Oscar worthy phenomenal.
@@bookoo995 He was intelligent in the first season. The way he quickly twisted the terrorist plane incident, the way he created supervillians causing the CIA to back off Vought and make the Boys outlaws, the way he pieced together BS stories told to him. There are plenty of examples
@@timeyinsholaye9169 No. Any idiot could have come up with both the examples you gave. "Leave no witnesses" and "make a bad guy so we seem even better" aren't the plots of an evil genius. Those are the plots of a twisted madman with super powers.
@@timeyinsholaye9169 I know right. Everyone here is saying Homelander was always dumb, while the show really implied that Homelander was pretty much the one in control and then season 2 comes around and suddenly Homelander is suddenlý outsmarted by everyone. Even random protesters are able to get to him.
I disagree with Homelander, his development made a ton of sense. He never was an evil genius. With Stillwell gone, he's totally lost and it shows how much of a fucking baby he really is (imo makes him way more believable)
Maybe not a genius but he was very smart and manipulative in season 1 gaining sympathy with the plane crash, completely duping Stillwell and Butcher, starting the super terrorist threat. He doesn’t really make those movements season 2. If anything season 2 shows Homelander can be defeated. The last scene with him is so comical, he is brought so low he can’t even determine who is on the same team with him and he has to denounce his girlfriend. Not to say it wasn’t good character progression, but definitely a turn from season 1.
It's more about the start of the show. They do buildup like he's the dark horse here, absolute evil. At one point I was like they can counter everything but homelander, and well that never happens. Homelander can just kill anyone with 1 lazer trail realistically
He did manage to steal and distribute Compound V accross the glode to create Supe Terrorists without Vought knowing. So I don't buy the "Homelander was always this lost and not so smart" argument at all. BUT ! Vought has been shown to be grossly incompetent this season, so maybe you're right... Still terrible though
Am I the only person whose favorite character is Frenchie? He's such a solid guy. You need a friend? An accomplice? A shoulder to cry on? Some hard drugs and illegal weaponry? Frenchie's got you.
I'm glad he got some development this season. Now I'm waiting on them to give MM the same treatment. MM had everyone's back this season and they hinted at some stuff like his OCD and his dad, but I'd like to see him get more time for an arc like Frenchie did this season.
@@TheWattsatron every scene with him and Kimiko puts me on edge because I fucking love both of them, and every time they're together it just feels like the show is building up the tragedy style meter to eventually unleash a SSSS finisher of dispair on my soul.
Bro the director said "the more they corner homelander the more he will get mad and be will explode in season 3." And Anthony Star said "If I could describe Homelander in 2 words it would be "homicidal maniac." And you saw what he did to the protests people (even though its his imagination you still he what he could do) and the blind guy and the swat team and the child and he was about to kill his own kid in the last episode Edit: also stan edgar is supposed to be intimating like in the comic it was mr stilwell but in show its stan and that's what makes his character so badass
The Vaught soldiers are so dumb like go to this house and take homelander's kid from a non supe criminal. He would get angry but its okay, the criminal got homelander under control
@@vlrginizer927 butcher call them late. When butcher and his wife break in, that should be the soldier breaking in. If that happen, they would've been gone before homelander got back. So no, they are not stupit.
And I disagree with Charlie about Homelander becoming weaker, without getting to spoilers everything he's done is natural to the character and makes sense in the narrative
I feel like homelander's fall of respect and fear or whatever is part of his arc, he's scared of losing the love people have for him, he backs down to Maeve in the finale because the dirt she has on him would mean no one would love him ever again. He goes from being a god like being to the world and to himself, and then he realizes just how much people hate him and he starts to lose it but he knows that if he wants love which is what he really wants because he didn't have it as a child, he has to be the nice guy.
Yeah I agree couldn’t of word it better. that’s apart of his arc, and he’s realizing it and he might say fuck it and just go full homicidal maniac in season 3.
Magnus Mont What’s hard to understand here? Let me break it down for you. Season 1: He is in control, does whatever the fuck he wants. Season 2: Vaught starts overpowering him, he does not have as much power. More dirt found on him. Starts to lose his mind, does not seem to be as top of the world as he thought.
Homelander as a character really confuse me in the series, because he's somewhat different than the original comic. But i guess i kinda like how they treat him, gotta say it's very Kripke-like.
No one is saying “No” to his opinion but his explanation. He didn’t accurately voice Homelanders character, he isn’t some “Diabolical mastermind” in fact he’s the exact opposite. He’s a Man-Child who is fueled by attention and the one time that attention is beginning to be challenged he panics, he isn’t smart whatsoever in fact the only way he was able to manipulate people in the first season is because he had Power and influence and anyone that challenged that is done for. Charlie’s is allowed to dislike his character development but it seems he didn’t actually know his character to begin with. So people are explaining it more thoroughly.
The reason why Homelander isn’t the main bad guy and why he is acting different is because he is going insane and has lost all of his stabilizers except stormfront and his fans.
He has always thought since a child he is above everyone now he is having second thoughts which is causing him to think on his existence leading him to snap
I liked Homelander even more this season. He's still just as scary, but he's questioning himself constantly. After losing the only person he believed loved him, he tries to attach to various people who push him away until he finds Stormfront. She warps his character and makes him even worse, but in the final episode he realises he can actually raise his son, and maybe he could become a better person from that. When Ryan chooses Butcher, that laugh that Homelander lets off is terrifying, because you can tell he's crying. He knows he's evil, he knows he's a monster, but he knows why, and he knows what he needs to be mentally stable again. But everyone is so terrified of him that he can't attach to anyone. Before there was a possibility of changing Homelander for the better instead of trying to kill him. Now, it's only a matter of time before that protest scene becomes reality and he snaps
I agree with you except for the whole Homelander could have been redeemed. If anything Stillwell kept him on a leash, he will always be a monster and that monster no longer has a defacto handler. Mave and Starlight are the only ones who can handle him at the end of the season but they fear him regardless thus their control over him will be limited. His Achilles heel from this point forward is going to be Ryan, the whole god talk made me think back to Zeus and the Titans. I see Ryan at the end of this series bringing forth a new era of heroes by stopping his father himself at the cost of Butcher sacrificing himself. I honestly hope we get to see more interaction with Ryan and Butcher. That is his last connection to his wife and vice versa for Ryan with Butcher being his last conmection to his mom. We saw a great dynamic between Hughey and Butcher that I hope translates to Butcher wanting Ryan to be tough as nails but have a heart.
Homelander getting manipulated easily is part of his character since he never had a loving family. he's a man-child with superpowers but he's very easily suggestible which imo makes him more terrifying. come season 3 im sure he's gonna break and go crazy.
Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else. Gets me frustrated. Just admit that you love the videos I make, my dear noe
I disagree with homelander sucking, i think the reason he seems less central is to show that the VP of Vought was a big part of who he was because she helped him so much but he didn't know. Now he sees his actions have consequences and that he isn't the big shit he was lead to believe he was. I think it was a perfect way to show how he's struggling with understanding what his importance and existence means which is why he wants to get close to Ryan, so he can fill the void of unconditional love.
At the end of the day, what Homelander wants is love so people just play with that during the season. At the end of the season you can see him silently snap. Can't wait to see him do whatever the fuck he actually wants to do.
and the fact that he is the one responsible for killing his "mommy". that alone would make him being more unstable and lost in season 2. i mean, he is already unstable but with Madelyn, he has motivation which makes him able to make smart moves for her sake. without Madelyn, he is lost and weird. thats the whole point of Homelander in season 2
But he did his own things and was a real threat. He was after the boys, had his plot with the ter*orists and ki**ed his 'mommy'. He acted and pushed the story forward. This season he did nothing and was nothing to anyone. Before he was a threat, we were afraid of what he could do to the boys if he finds them, of what he can do to starlight, WHILE exploring his traumas and insecurities and mommy issues, etc. This season they went all-in with the second and erased the first, downgrading the character significantly.
@@martasorangeberry idk man, I was scared as shit every time Butcher and Becca were together. Sure he didn’t do anything but his identity made me scared of him. Every time I’d be scared he’d just land on somebody and kill them dead lmao.
did you know hughies actor Jack Quaid was also in the hunger games?!?!? Thefore, Charlie, Hughie AND Jack Quaid all exist in the boys universe. how odd
Charlie, Homelander took a huge hit at the end of season one when his mother figure died. Granted, it was by his own hand, but still. Also, he's being softened by spending more time with his son. He's seeing how important it is for him to maintain his reputation and how little control he has over it.
I’m pretty sure he would have beat storm front to death he is cool with kid it seems especially when he was like doing be a c u n t because youtube hates that word
Yeah, considering the character he’s playing has to seem like he has a heart of gold half the time while also being batshit terrifying, I was in awe at how convincing he was with both personalities, and how quickly he could switch between them.
HomeLander falls apart in this season cause he doesn’t have Stillwell’s love and guidance to stabilise him emotionally and give him a route to follow. Without her, he’s as discombobulated as a cow with a bell on its tail.
Evidently Anthony Starr said that Homelander will be "unleashed" in season 3. So I think a more tame Homelander was planned for this season, he needed to be vulnerable for a bit before he completely loses his shit. Already can't wait for season 3
I personally felt like Homelander this season was just a setup for the real deal in S3. He had character development but he wasn’t really a dangerous adversary this season. But I believe he will be in the next one.
i agree and theres at least two big hints at this when he imagined lasering that whole crowd of people and at the end when he told maeve he would destroy everything. He was slipping hard the whole season now he has nothing and is an inch away from losing his shit and going full massacre mode
Yes he did. Last scene you see him in, with his piercing psychotic eyes, you can see from earlier episodes, he is literally holding back nuking everybody
Already disagree with his take on Homelander. He's just as scary and even more volatile this season and the performance was just as good and just as convincing. He's gonna lose it at some point
Agreed. Season 1 showed us, "Homelander has no weakness, and the only thing stopping him from destroying humanity is his mood on a given day." Season 2 showed us, "Actually, Homelander's weakness is his need to be adored, and the only thing stopping him from destroying humanity is the fact some people still love him." Next we'll probably find out what happens once no one loves him anymore... They've said they'd like to do at least 5 seasons. I haven't read the comics, but here's my best ignorant guess as to where Homelander's arc will go: The cracks in Homelander's public persona begin to show, especially without Stormfront (who bailed him out of it this season with strategic memes). He gets more and more reckless and autonomous from Vought despite their wishes, starts cussing on camera, maybe maims a fan on live TV. But a sizeable portion of people still love/fear him. Vought goes under completely at the end of the season, and superheroes are essentially cut loose, and they / the public flock to him for leadership in the vacuum Vought leaves behind. At first he loves it, but seeing as he has no true leadership qualities, he ends up killing a buttload of superheroes and civilians in one massive bloodbath and leaving. Final season will show him killing everyone he wants, in a tattered uniform, becoming a full fledged murder-hobo until the Boys can finally hunt him down / trap him and kill him.
@@Scroolewse Stormfront was already a comic character and was a nazi. All the writers did was make him a woman to show white feminism can lead to racism and tie in how the internet can radicalize regular ppl.

no charlie the progression of homelander's character is donne on purpose, the point is resistance is forming and he's doesnt have total control anymore. i think its a set up for season 3 where he's going to lose his mind and start doing some wild shit because of his acumulating frustrations.
Homelanders progression is a "regression". Hes losing himself and everything he knows. Hes cracked and unstable. If he had the same presence and screen time it would detract from his spiral down. Granted i loved the character and always want to see more i understand the choice. Also his step back helps drive home that Homelander isnt the main villain its Vought. Hes the main bad for Butcher but not for The Boys.
@@VultureClone yup. its boring seeing a character being too good, whether its hero or villain. homelander is great in season 1 but i dont want to see him like that in EVERY season. i love his season 2 self where he is just like a lost, deranged man child
Homelander’s fall is a direct result of Stillwell’s death I think. He’s been broken man who’s has been played his entire life, Stillwell was what gave him his bite and following his arc, he is learning how to operate without Stillwell behind him
I love Stormfront's line "People like what I'm saying, they just don't like the word Nazi" because it shows even more of the similarities between this world and ours.
Since Charlie mentioned the plot hole he did, the one that irked me was the fact that Hughie and starlight could constantly meet up and people are always texting and being told it was a bad idea, and yet nothing once ever happens as consequence. Those were like constant through both seasons
Michael Oppmann also Ryan dismembering Stormfront even though she is invulnerable to lasers. Or Queen Maeve's somehow finding all the characters in a field without flying or speed powers and intervening when it's most convenient for the plot
@@IngvarMar i would say stormfront was highly resistant to lasers, but I never assumed she could take a full intensity blast. Homelander can control his lasers as you can see him heating milk and having a concerned look on his face when he lasered stormfront, making it clear he wasnt going all out. now i completely agree with you with maeve appearing out of nowhere at the perfect time
@@IngvarMar I don't think Stormfront is invulnerable, she had a pretty nasty wound after Homelander lasered her tits. I think he was holding back whereas Ryan has no control and went full rage mode.
JO again, there is a better execution. Show Ryan's power earlier in the episode. Let him cut her hand off when they were trying to teach him to use the lazers. That would show his true powers
Well the reason homelander is “weaker” in this season is cus he’s literally having a mental breakdown they even set this up in season 1 the entire point is for him to start losing control and become more and more insane and he definitely still had quite a few terrifying scenes in season 2
It was all over the place this season. Some episodes were boring. I was going to watch it through again once they were all out. Don’t think I’ll bother. Apparently the ratings ranked half way through the season.
He was way more terrifying in season 2 because he was extremely unpredictable. In S1 he was being held by Stillwell so you could tell what he would do after, in S2 there was no one to stop him so he did whatever, whenever.
but that's the point of homelander in this season, it's to show that he's not as powerful as everyone first believed. Why do you think they talked about how Ryan is basically his kryptonite? This entire season is basically homelanders fall from god status now that he's in a way becoming more human. Not sure if that made sense but that's the way I saw it.
Deckard I love Charlie but don’t boycott him and go with everything he says it’s quite clear he didn’t understand the way the creators envisioned homelanders character arc
@@KaneK1234 Not everything Charlie says is right. People can have an opinion but his opinion on the matter of Homelander's character in the second season is wrong. If you read the comics, it's clear that the 2nd season was Homelander's character regression rather than progression. Tiny bits of pieces here and there that will help set up his character for season 3.
Homelander not as powerful? You for real? He can kill anyone he wants. He can literally kill everyone if he wants to. He just often lets the good guys go for no good reason. The bad writing make him look weak, while he isn't. It's inconsistent as hell.
I feel like Homelander was used this season because at the end of the day he’s just a big baby that wants to be loved. The strongest man in the world is really the weakest because he’s so crippled by peoples perception of him.
I think that’s what makes him such a great character imo. Gotta disagree with charlie on this one. And with the direction I think they’re going to take his character, I’m sure we’re going to see a lot more unhinged homelander in future seasons
I think that's a good thing, some youtube communities only suck the penis of the content creator, but in this one, the people just do not agree with the opinion and gives his points of view. In short, it's a good community.
And they're kinda right. It quite literally feels like Charlie doesn't get the character. His comment about being disappointed that Homelander isn't 'an evil genius mastermind' like in season 1 was very telling. Homelander was never that at all, he was always portrayed as a sociopathic manchild who is in constant need of someone stroking his ego.
i think he just means that he misses how homelander was a bigger and more intimidating presence in s1. it's not bad writing or anything, more of a preference of how he would like to see the character to be portrayed. and since it's only a review for s2 he's naturally going to compare with s1 as there is no s3 to compare with yet.
Maybe he hasn't read the comics and he sees him as a background character just like jack from Jupiter who was shown in one of the pornos scene with dudes around him
I don't really understand the Homelander criticism, it's very clearly building to him losing his shit. [anyone who read the comics knows exactly what I mean]
The criticism comes from the fact that Charlie clearly has a wrong interpretation of the character. I know this sounds pretentious and condescending; art is subjective and all that, but I feel like this show very clearly shows that Homelander isn't some evil genius psycho who's one step ahead of everyone else like Charlie seems to think, judging by his comments about season 1 Homelander. He's a narcissistic manchild with a fuck ton of power who's very susceptible to the whims of those who are willing to indulge his ego.
He didn't die even the showrunner confirmed him and he will return including SPOILERS stormfront is also not dead for anyone wondering. Apparently Love Sausage is coming back aswell
Homelander was never stable even if he was more confident in season one. Season 2 progression felt very in character idk what you're talking about charlie. I think you missed the mark big time
I have to disagree on your homelander analysis, I thought his character progression was perfect. It’s really chilling watching him slowly become more and more insane
I didn’t know the world esteemed actor Charles White from blockbuster movies like The Hunger Games and Killer Bean had a youtube channel! I will be subscribing
I guess Homelander being back-seated this season isn’t only just for the other villains, but to sort of “show” at how he’s “losing power” per se this season as well. Just my thoughts though. Edit: Season 3’s confirmed by the way, got renewed somewhere around last week, new teaser for it just dropped too, super excited.
Yeah if say Homelander was actually not characterized well and what he did made no sense, then I would warrant taking points off. But his arc this season is supposed to be one of him slowly losing power, and Vaught overtaking him
Ryan One S yeah, would’ve definitely loved to see more S1 Homelander vibes, but story-wise, this would make the most sense, Episode 1 is literally Homelander getting put in his place by Edgar
I feel like Homelander taking a backseat and getting used alot is goof setup for him snapping, because we all know with the power of a God eventually Homelander is going to snap and go apeshit, and the final scenes of Homelander in this season really bring home the idea that what little threads he has holding him back are starting to come loose. Great show, still not as strong as season 1 but still a great season of TV
"homelander was reduced to a sniveling loony-toons villain who keeps getting used and cant get anything right" as someone who reads the comic, they nailed him then
I think Homelander had one of the best moments this season when he said that if Maeve released the video he would destroy everything and everyone. He's teetering on the edge of snapping and going fully insane, I think that later on in the show they will have Homelander fully snap and let the whole world see how insane he is and we'll get our Butcher Homelander 1v1 and I trust the show will make a believable situation where Billy can fight Homelander without getting squished. I am really looking forward to what the show does in the future.
This season blew the first out of the water. The only thing I don’t like is Billy was lame for the first half of the season. I thought Homelander was well done. It makes sense considering how Homelander’s love interests where holding him back. It’s setting up for season 3, Homelander is going to have an extreme personality.
It was definitely good - - but wouldn’t say it blew the first one out of the Water. It handled Characters 100% better - But I still enjoyed Season 1 more
First Last I think thats a good sign for the show. The two seasons are really good and people like the two seasons in different ways, which shows how it can appeal in a lot of different ways
@@firstlast9846 I personally didn't like all of the characters. They got better in the 2nd half but Huey was really annoying in the first half and Butcher was kinda lame. But I still liked most of them, especially mm
He is going to fall to his own lack of personal reinforcements. An unhinged god without anyone he loves. God-emperor-tyrant-madman Homelander is the final destination.
I think the whole reasoning for season 2 homelander being more of a shell is to set up for an absolutely insane homelander for season 3. The emotions he went thru this season alone plus combined with the first season, he could be pack-a-punch homelander
It's weird how much I see people saying Homelander was nerfed or whatever... they don't seem to see any reason behind it and just want him to kill everyone.
This video is so moist that my basement is actually flooding right now and all of my possessions are floating in 12 inches of sewage water!! We are currently waiting for a plumber as I write this.
Homelander got fucking wrecked because it shows that he's weak. When butcher said stillwell was homelander's weakness, this season shows it. This season shows that if everything that he loves See's him for the actual creature that he is, then hed just be a monster
Homelander was never really diabolical or terrifying in any way other than his powers. He was always depicted as an immature child, only difference is in season two he was put in situations where he either gives in to emotion and everyone sees hes not a hero or he gives in to whoever he’s faced against and lets them win
Watching season 3 puts this homelanders critique into perspective cause in s2 he was more being set up people were currently trying to keep him bubbled but in s3 every scene I feel like a laser is gonna come outta knowhere and slash up any given character
I thought Homelander’s dive into being more cowardly and less strong minded made a lot of sense. There were times that he showed it during season 1 but at that point he never really had anyone in opposition to him. Also he had Stillwell who he basically saw as a weird mother so killing her probably fucked with him. He thinks he’s some all powerful all mighty god so seeing people stand up against him probably really fucks with his head.
Agreed that this season wasn't quite as strong throughout as the first, but they KILLED the ending. The Congresswoman Neuman twist was really well done and that finale was magnificent. So excited for season 3!
When Butcher (the supe killing boogeyman, a badass, and a guy who says c*nt on the daily basis) yelled "HELP" when his loved one is dying really hits different
Well he's getting what he hoped for homelander, he's regaining his confidence and control, and on the edge ready to fuck shit up in the way that only homelander knows how
The reason why homelander is scary in season 2 is BECAUSE of how lost he is. He has no guidance or figure to restrain him, and his anger is constantly building as he feels more tossed aside. He is completely slave to his emotions and is always a second away from killing everyone if it weren't for him wanting to preserve his image.
I actually really like what this season did with Homelander, it felt like a natural progression of his character themes. In season 1 everyone is terrified of him due to his powers, but season 2 adds a great new twist to that by showing how much he straight up fears anyone who isn't afraid of him, and meeting his match almost immediately, it reveals him for what he really is: an emotionally stunted manchild throwing an extended temper tantrum, who cowers the moment somebody stops just taking his shit. With the hindsight of season 3 I think this shows much better, as 3 really paid off this idea with Soldier Boy
@@CJ-re2im Loved that! It even beat my personal favorite of "What are we, some kind of The Boys?" that Starlight said while she was boying. Absolute masterpiece
This season focuses much more on emotions which is why I understand people not liking it as much. And in defense of Homelander you have to remember everything he knows was shattered he went from being the best of the best to being basically nothing. Seeing him during a valley, not a peak. Season three Homelander is going to be insane
I liked Homelander's devolvement in this season. He was basically the king of the world in the first season, but he didn't earn anything he was made this picture of patriotism and everyone (mostly) loved him. In season 2 we see what losing that "king" status does to him mentally.
The only thing I didn’t like about this season was that dang blue grimy tint it makes every scene look like London England. THE USA HAS SUNSHINE MAN WHAT THE HELL TURN IT OFF
I think it’s essential to take a look at homelanders relationship with Stillwell. It became pretty apparent that he was clinging onto/ feeding from that relationship as a sort of compensation for the overwhelming job of being “The Homelander”. With her gone and the obviousness of his deteriorating control over the group, it makes complete sense that he would retract slightly from who he was in season one. The plethora on new impact factors that where introduced against homelander make it understandable that he would be overthrown because before he hadn’t had anything released that would taint his public perception, and once that was on the line, and stillwell gone, he had no other choice than to attest to his new position.
I enjoy homelanders personality this season as basicly a bratty child, since nobody can really overpower him people can only control him through those tactics and everybody knows this.
Homelanders arc in this one felt like it was setting up his arc in season three he’s lost the only things he could ever have loved, his girl freind and his son. He has been confined in what he can do and next season he’s finally going to snap
I really like how they flushed out all the characters more and I love how they made Homelander more on the edge than ever before. I also lied the girls get it done, one of the only good girls team up.

True, the only thing he has to rely on is that fact he thinks he's the single most powerful being on Earth "so don't fuck with me".
Yes. Stillwell was like some weird mother figure to him and when he killed her because she lied to him about his son that’s when he started to break.
Frenchie's got you.
same, he is very underrated.
I'm glad he got some development this season. Now I'm waiting on them to give MM the same treatment. MM had everyone's back this season and they hinted at some stuff like his OCD and his dad, but I'd like to see him get more time for an arc like Frenchie did this season.

So fucking true
And I disagree with Charlie about Homelander becoming weaker, without getting to spoilers everything he's done is natural to the character and makes sense in the narrative
I feel like homelander's fall of respect and fear or whatever is part of his arc, he's scared of losing the love people have for him, he backs down to Maeve in the finale because the dirt she has on him would mean no one would love him ever again. He goes from being a god like being to the world and to himself, and then he realizes just how much people hate him and he starts to lose it but he knows that if he wants love which is what he really wants because he didn't have it as a child, he has to be the nice guy.
what
Nope. Homelander should just kill everyone. Who wants nuance and character development?
Charlie: spends minutes explaining how he dont like how homelanders character is portrayed in s2
Everyone: NO
yeah thats what im thinking he wasnt crying when he killed madalyn he didnt feel anything he his emotional brekdown wasnt because of her
I wouldn't say people are mad or just bluntly saying no, people come to the comments to disagree and voice their opinions.
@@alialjebori1964 yeah its a joke, i know the NO is more of a meme
In this case “everyone” is a fool, Charlie is right.
The reason why Homelander isn’t the main bad guy and why he is acting different is because he is going insane and has lost all of his stabilizers except stormfront and his fans.
Exactly
He has always thought since a child he is above everyone now he is having second thoughts which is causing him to think on his existence leading him to snap
well that didnt age well
This. Season 3 could show him finally lashing out from all that "instability". Already chilling to think of
Yes exactly this season was really just getting everyone set form S3 which is basically where the comics begin so homeland is about to get very crazy.
Yeah I feel his psyche is hanging by a mere thread right now
Sick analysis, I'm hyped to watch
We saw a great dynamic between Hughey and Butcher that I hope translates to Butcher wanting Ryan to be tough as nails but have a heart.
very well written my dude.

Agree. The character development is great, Charlie didn't get it I guess
Yea that was the point he doesnt understand tho
At the end of the day, what Homelander wants is love so people just play with that during the season. At the end of the season you can see him silently snap. Can't wait to see him do whatever the fuck he actually wants to do.
I bet homelander is gonne get some kinda vegeta treatment and have some kind of redemption
@@ioannespalomaria6976 there is a chance but ehhh the show's more likely to let Ryan go apeshit on Homelander and start an era of true heroes
He never was some mastermind in season 1. He was being manipulated from the start. He deflates this season after losing his "Mommy".
and the fact that he is the one responsible for killing his "mommy". that alone would make him being more unstable and lost in season 2. i mean, he is already unstable but with Madelyn, he has motivation which makes him able to make smart moves for her sake. without Madelyn, he is lost and weird. thats the whole point of Homelander in season 2

Season 2 showed us, "Actually, Homelander's weakness is his need to be adored, and the only thing stopping him from destroying humanity is the fact some people still love him."
Next we'll probably find out what happens once no one loves him anymore...
They've said they'd like to do at least 5 seasons. I haven't read the comics, but here's my best ignorant guess as to where Homelander's arc will go:
The cracks in Homelander's public persona begin to show, especially without Stormfront (who bailed him out of it this season with strategic memes).

I believe they confirmed one of the villains would be Soldier boy played by Jensen Ackles
I don't know who watches season one, looks at Homelander and goes, that's an evil mastermind.
Charlie: I’m disappointed homelander didn’t do things.
Season 3: Hold my beer
I feel like Homelander taking a backseat and getting used alot is goof setup for him snapping, because we all know with the power of a God eventually Homelander is going to snap and go apeshit, and the final scenes of Homelander in this season really bring home the idea that what little threads he has holding him back are starting to come loose. Great show, still not as strong as season 1 but still a great season of TV
Other commenters: *types paragraph of thoughts on the second season*
Me: haha deep ain't having a fun time
Charlie's The Deep's little brother; The Moist
I think Homelander was written so extremly well this season. He is so obsessed with everyone loving him. So he is scared of fucking that up
I only gave this show a shot due to an ad featuring Michael Reeves.

BakaStryx bruh that’s it 😂
I think most will disagree with you on Homelander. The calls for that guy to get an Emmy have only multiplied.
"homelander was reduced to a sniveling loony-toons villain who keeps getting used and cant get anything right"
as someone who reads the comic, they nailed him then
This season showed Homelanders weakness, his admiration from fan fuel him, when Edgar and Maeve attack that, he’s controllable
Exactly what i thought, the moment he perceives his ego is not rock solid he just enters defense mode
Good news for Charlie, Homelander becomes a completely unhinged maniac in Season 3
was thinking the same thing
Charlie should be cast as god in this show not homelander.
This video is so moist that my basement is actually flooding right now and all of my possessions are floating in 12 inches of sewage water!! We are currently waiting for a plumber as I write this.
Dont you have more kid show videos to post?
@@xfer6815 Yes but I want to make them scary to freak the kids out and have long term PTSD
Sorry if you missed that
Link you go moist over zelda
Hope the kids in the basement are okay

Homelander got fucking wrecked because it shows that he's weak. When butcher said stillwell was homelander's weakness, this season shows it. This season shows that if everything that he loves See's him for the actual creature that he is, then hed just be a monster
The boys is such a legendary show i didnt expect i would like. Everyone should watch
Credits to the comic
Hope my cousin can grow up faster so i can show her
Homelander was never really diabolical or terrifying in any way other than his powers. He was always depicted as an immature child, only difference is in season two he was put in situations where he either gives in to emotion and everyone sees hes not a hero or he gives in to whoever he’s faced against and lets them win
The facts that’s he’s child like is what makes him disturbing
Watching season 3 puts this homelanders critique into perspective cause in s2 he was more being set up people were currently trying to keep him bubbled but in s3 every scene I feel like a laser is gonna come outta knowhere and slash up any given character
I thought Homelander’s dive into being more cowardly and less strong minded made a lot of sense. There were times that he showed it during season 1 but at that point he never really had anyone in opposition to him. Also he had Stillwell who he basically saw as a weird mother so killing her probably fucked with him. He thinks he’s some all powerful all mighty god so seeing people stand up against him probably really fucks with his head.
can't wait for you to review season 3 and see jensen ackles in action. he's finally been freed from the cw lmao
But not from eric kripke lmao
I think when homelander killed Madeline that’s when he let out a lot of his anger, and now it’s building up again
Who else was disappointed Charlie didn’t mention his favorite power from The Boy.
The Slong Man
Agreed that this season wasn't quite as strong throughout as the first, but they KILLED the ending. The Congresswoman Neuman twist was really well done and that finale was magnificent. So excited for season 3!
Might want to remove that ending, its quite a spoiler
i had a fucking heart failure when the dude's head popped, no matter how many times i rewatch the scene it just scares the shit outta me,
Thats a huge spoiler dude
@@DualB0yZ why would someone watch a review on season two without having seen the season...🤦🏻♂️
When Butcher (the supe killing boogeyman, a badass, and a guy who says c*nt on the daily basis) yelled "HELP" when his loved one is dying really hits different
Well he's getting what he hoped for homelander, he's regaining his confidence and control, and on the edge ready to fuck shit up in the way that only homelander knows how
Little did u know they did homelands dirty in season 2 as a setup for season 3
The way you describe Homelander here explains what is happening in season 3.
When Butcher stood up and said "It's the boys' time!" is when I realized this was one of the shows ever aired.
I know right! and when homelander screamed "No! Not 'The Boys™'" literal chills
@@CJ-re2im Loved that! It even beat my personal favorite of "What are we, some kind of The Boys?" that Starlight said while she was boying. Absolute masterpiece
When homelander murders everyone in his thoughts but we get to see it is intense. I was like wtf?! Great show all around
A little upset it didn't happen, but it'd be a bit early to go that far. Season 3 foreshadowing would be my guess
Charlie is known for his amazing acting skillls in The hunger games
This season focuses much more on emotions which is why I understand people not liking it as much.
And in defense of Homelander you have to remember everything he knows was shattered he went from being the best of the best to being basically nothing. Seeing him during a valley, not a peak. Season three Homelander is going to be insane
I liked Homelander's devolvement in this season. He was basically the king of the world in the first season, but he didn't earn anything he was made this picture of patriotism and everyone (mostly) loved him. In season 2 we see what losing that "king" status does to him mentally.
Currently watching The Boys Season 3, and I can safely say that his critiques of Homelander in Season 2 will be pretty much nonexistent.
I think Homelander had a really spectacular and well-done progression.
The only thing I didn’t like about this season was that dang blue grimy tint it makes every scene look like London England. THE USA HAS SUNSHINE MAN WHAT THE HELL TURN IT OFF
You’re right I didn’t even think about that now I can’t unsee it
I live in London, I can guarantee you it's not grimy blue.
It's just grimy grey.
Now we know how every other country feels when a hollywood film slaps a tiny filter on that makes everything look like the world is orange.
it was filmed in canada
If you pay attention, the scenes that are recorded in-universe are brighter and colorful, aesthetic choices man
*INITIATING MOISTURE*
The change between season one and season 2 charlie is insane
Homelanders arc in this one felt like it was setting up his arc in season three he’s lost the only things he could ever have loved, his girl freind and his son. He has been confined in what he can do and next season he’s finally going to snap
I really like how they flushed out all the characters more and I love how they made Homelander more on the edge than ever before. I also lied the girls get it done, one of the only good girls team up.
Damn, The Deep should have made the Moist Meter get to 100%
I think homelander taking a step back in season 2 is a side effect of the 8 episode seasons
calling season 1 Homelander an "evil, mastermind genius" is a super stretch. Lol Season 2 was awesome
