Because they are mainly using an example of what if gremmy had experience in fights to begin with. Gremmy was like an literally child who was bored, locked up in a cell for god knows how, and the only challenge he had was against kenpachi who hyped him up to the point he was straight up going all in without thinking straight or making any plans at all. Like they said gremmy had the potential to beat kenpachi, but his power while being extremely powerful it’s an double edge blade. He unconsciously visualize kenpachi as an monster, because there was no one who challenged his power straight up or question it. Gremmy used methods in the fight that could kill more ordinary opponents, like when he turn the surrounding air in kenpachi to water and then split the earth and bury him. Gremmy thought methods like that could deal against kenpachi, since he didn’t see kenpachi as something special until kenpachi slowly was proving him wrong, hence why he lost cool and started imagining his death. Gremmy then didn’t realize he was unconsciously powering up kenpachi even further by calling him an monster, basically making him unstoppable. Imagine you have the power to do create anything, and you do something that could destroy the soul society completely along side everyone in it, and suddenly the opponent you’re facing easily deals with that attack? You would be shock, while also in disbelief slowly making an imagine of your opponent as some sort of god. Any wrong thoughts can be lethal to himself just as easy as it is to imagine. That is gremmy’s power… So much potential yet such a big weakness as well.
No wonder this is so fallacious. They’re going off an experienced and non arrogant gremmy? Well that’s not true because they’ already mentioned him being in character multiple times. They’re just wanking the way he fights and how he uses his imagination. So they’re kind of contradicting themselves a lot in this video plus their scaling was wonky.

Gremmy himself stated that he in fact imagine perfectly kenpachi’s power, but he then also stated that his body wasn’t strong enough, until he corrected himself calling that statement an “excuse”. In reality what Gremmy didn’t state was that he could’ve possibly made an fitting body to use kenpachi’s power to the full extent. We saw that gremmy unconsciously was buffing kenpachi as he imagine him as a monster. Meaning, at that point kenpachi was unstoppable thanks to gremmy’s point of view. The reason is basically that Gremmy while being completely inexperienced, which meant that he never expected to find someone that could match his power or defy even what seemed impossible in his eyes. In the end he found an opponent who defy all odds against him, and overcome anything throw at him. That made Gremmy transform kenpachi into an monster. That is what i think so i hope it is atleast somewhat understandable.

Yep. Exactly what I said. The moment Gremmy starts having those thoughts and starts making them in to reality, it will spiral out of control. Gremmy will essentially self destruct. I feel overall, the weakness of the “V” isn’t explored as much as it should in this video.
I thinks shunsuis bankai is a GREAT counter to Gremmy. The bankai induced depression which could make Gremmy think self destructive thoughts. And the moment he thinks that it’s over for him.

Shunsui is the MVP here. Not only does his Bankai induce depression, but his Zanpakuto in general imposes its own rules on reality. He could force Gremmy to only attack when he calls out a color, or kill Gremmy instantly by making him 'it', or force Gremmy along the play of his Bankai until his inevitable death. I think a lot of people forget that Gremmy isn't the only reality warper here.
Guys there are limitations to Gremmy's powers that you're completely ignoring... an example being he is limited to his speed of reaction (if he can't react fast enough and is blitzed then it doesn't matter). Another example is that he can only imagine a few things at a time and if there's a lapse in that imagination, it goes away (meaning that what he imagines isn't permanent)
If I'm being honest there are only 2 reasons why gremmy couldn't 1 tap kenpachi.. not enough reiatsu as his imagination is reiatsu based or his ego got in the way geemmy wanted to crush kenpachi then kills him most likely but its very likely that he didn't have enough reiatsu so he was forced to conjured up objects instead of forces such as meteorites I think this fact about gremmys heavily misunderstood as weakness

lmfao ya'll overestimate gremmy way too much. in no universe does gremmy beat yamamoto. "A battle between shinigami is a battle between reiatsu" -aizen, and the same logic can be applied with every character with reiatsu in Bleach. Gremmy's reiatsu just wont be enough to warp the reality of Yama's body. An example would be that Gremmy didn't reality warp or manipulate Kenpachi's body in any way such as turning Kenpachi's bones into cookies. Because Kenpachi just has that much more reiatsu than Gremmy, his body wouldn't be affected by imaginations like that (just like how Soi Fon's 2 hti kill poison had no affect on Aizen) but instead has to rely on other methods to fight kenpachi. Gremmy's reiatsu wasnt strong enough to match with Kenpachi's thats why he died. No matter how calm Gremmy is when fighting Yamamoto he simple wont have enough reiatsu to match and beat Yama. Same thing goes for Shunsui, I believe Shunsui can match or even have greater reiatsu compared to gremmy so he can also beat him or negate his body manipulating imaginations that affects Shunsui himself, so gremmy would have to reply on other things to fight shunsui with such as imagining a metoer or space itself. But gremmy would be caught in the affects of Shunsui's Zanpakuto which then he has to abide by the rules set by his Zanpakuto which would make the fight more even. And technically speaking, Shinji's Shikai could negate the meteor cos he can invert the direction of incoming attacks, and injury locations. So if the meteor is falling down, then his shikai could make it so the impact is above, in the sky and not on the ground. Shinji's shikai also has so much untapped potential cos in the novels he was training to inverse hot and cold..
The problem I see with this is first you're scaling this based off of his ability and not the actual character. His ability is broken in the right hands, but for Gremmy anyone around Shikai Kenpachi's level should be able to deal with him.

Gremmy is on the weaker side tbh. People just hype him up because he fought kempachi. Anyone fast enough can one shot him. Even gin could one shot him from a mile away. To imagine something takes time. Imagining anything to counter an ability is really hard and he proved that he needs 2 of him for the meteor and 8 for the Galaxy room. It's clear he has hard limits on what he can do . He can't fight more than 1 person at a time. He proves he has to focus on everything he imagines for those things to keep being real. It's just a cool gimmick and nothing more. Compare him to even Bambi or bazz b. They at least don't crumble in 2 minutes because they have weak mental.

Shunsui basically sacrificed unohana to get the full powered kenpachi. The same unohana who would have smoked most of the other soul reapers. It was worth sacrificing her to gain the power the kenpachi gained. People really are not comprehending that. Gremmy was locked up by the quincies, Yhwach let him out to specifically try to take out kenpachi. Blows my mind people thinking Gremmy is overhyped when the dude has one of the most broken abilities in the show. Kenpachi is one of the few that would have been able to forcibly tear through space like he did. Meaning you are looking at just a handful of people would have survived being thrown into space and not instantly getting killed, much less making it back by counterattacking 😂
Most of these fights end with Gremmy SelfDestructs. Vs Toshiro when he sees an ice wave coming he would have a small thought in his head of “oh shit that looks bad I might get frozen” then he freezes himself. Every single thing Gremmy imagines comes true so he can’t for a single second doubt his abilities or he just loses
I think Ukitake is being severely overlooked but it's more so due to us nor getting much info about him. Byakuya on the other hand I think could defeat Gremmy but it would lie in his immense knowledge of Hado and Kido. I also think he would be able to use Gremmys ability against him just like they backfired against him in his fight with Kenny.
Ukitake knows more about kido and hado thanks to his old age also the reason Grammy lost to Kenny was due to his mentality byakuya nor ukitake can't produce that same affect that kenpachi was able to deduce

I'm pretty sure that Kenpachi's taunts towards him, made Gremmy want to prove his strength. Zaraki was the first person to push Gremmy in a fight, so Gremmy wanted to imagine something strong enough to stop Zaraki, rather then instantly kill the first entertaining opponent he's ever had. The thing about gremmy is that if anybody can make him doubt his own abilities like zaraki did then gremmy basically loses. I feel like captains such as shunsui, byakuya, zaraki, yamamoto, sajin, and unohana would be able to win since they either have overwhelming power or they have such a high battle iq that they could get a sneak attack in that could kill gremmy. Mayuri also wins with ease if he had an hour to prepare.
I think if mayuri finds out that gremmy needs to use his imagination then he would release some sort of drug that would comatose him and wait for the drug to take effect before he steps into the battle

You also can’t ignore how this version of Kenny is much weaker than the version of Kenny unohana kept killing over and over, but was still able to cut Gerard, overwhelm Gremmy and trade blows with pernida. And Candice didn’t blitz Kenny, the girls were barely able to react to a much weaker and fatigued Kenny. So no Byakuya would not be faster than this kenny. Nor would Candice even if he wasn’t weakened. Just makes no sense.
Shunsui washes gremmy. He’s also extremely susceptible to speed blitzes. Jushiro is directly comparable to shunsui who is definitely more skilled and much faster than gremmy. Gremmy’s ability is broken, he is not, so stop glazing. Yama stomps, mayuri outsmarts, invulnerable sajin has a chance cuz there is no proof that gremmy can imagine away innate powers, tosh stomps as he was able to freeze and shatter a sword that embodies the concept of the hope of the masses, byakuya likely outsmarts and skill diffs, and even renji probably has a chance. I think Gremmy's Schrift "The Visionary" is indeed very powerful but it quite clearly has limitations. It's difficult to point what exactly they are since Kubo doesn't quite say but I think based off the fight and also Yachiru's fight with "The Vanishing Point" we can infer that Gremmy's power although incredibly strong has some major flaws: 1. Gremmy's imagination seems to be limited to things that are concrete rather than things that are abstract. Meaning that Gremmy can imagine his body is stronger than steel but he cannot imagine that his body is "the strongest". Meanwhile Zaraki Kenpachi's ability to cut anything is abstract. It's not something that can really be calculated. If Gremmy tries to imagine something abstract like "I just need to be stronger than the strongest" his vision will apart because such an abstract idea can never be concrete. 2. Gremmy's imagination is limited to his attention span. As soon as he stops thinking about something he imagined it no longer exists. 3. Gremmy's imagination is affected by his state of mind which makes his power a huge double edge sword because if he imagines his own death it will happen. However that said I think in order to conjure something into existence he has to make a conscience effort. Which brings up the next weakness. 4. Gremmy's imagination is something he needs to be actively thinking about. In other words if someone were to get the jump on him and killed him he couldn't simply imagine he wasn't dead because he would be dead. So Gremmy needs to be aware that his enemies are there.
Kisuke is way to smart for Gremmy, is kind of a bad match in that sense, he is smarter and more prepared than Mayuri with more firepower and better hax, and a endless bag of tricks

Soi Fon's speed might be capable of two tapping Gremmy and putting him down, especially since he dosent know what her shikai does and wouldn't straight up negate the first hit with imagination. Neither would he just imagine away Sajin's immortality because he could've imagined away Kenpachi's power and his ability to cut anything if he was that smart.

If Gremmy can’t imagine himself being as strong as Kenpachi he is not beating RG training Byakuya. Adult Toshiro is definitely winning. Shunsui gives gremmy depression and makes him kill himself, u were not cooking when you said his hax isn’t relevant, he can literally inflict the same win con against Gremmy that Kenpachi did (mindfucking him into making him lose). Gremmy’s ability is great but it’s not “I can’t ever be hurt by anyone ever because I said I can’t be” strong.
Something that I haven’t seen someone mention yet is battle experience. One of the factors that played into Gremmy’s defeat was lack of battle experience. For how overwhelming ridiculous Gremmy’s ability is, his solutions seem relatively simplistic. Soul Reapers use a sword? I’ll make my body harder than a sword. Up to the point of putting Kenpachi in space, everything he imagined was really simple. This shows that Gremmy doesn’t have the battle intelligence to put his busted ability to it’s fullest. His lack of experience leads to the point people are bringing up which is giving him negative thoughts to make him lose through sheer mental diff. There are a couple characters that would feasibly be able to pull this off. Shunsui, Urahara, and Aiken are great examples of people that could completely dismantle Gremmy’s mental stability. Shunsui is the biggest disagreement I have but people have already voiced that.
Gremmy's ability is being extremely oversold here, he isn't beating any of the upper tier captains Shunsui especially and his greatest weakness is his own mind once you get him to doubt or stop thinking he's done you can basically manipulate is mind and he can't think your body is a cookie if your spiritual pressure is higher than his. And Shunsui bankai is reality warping it cant be nagated like that if he could negate shikai and bankai then kenpachi would have never won. All Shunsui has to do against his meteor is hide in his shadow and cut his head off he is a cunning fox that will do anything to win.
I think a really interesting situation would be if for in some impossible scenario shinji forced him to create clones then popped his bankai. Then it’s just Gremmy clones fighting each other which would be insane

She is fast enough to stop him from thinking by constantly attacking him. But she can't damage him without her shikai. If she doesn't explain the ability she could win. Rather if Gremmy doesn't know what the move does (assuming he never read her daten) then he loses.

Gremmy's best chance WAS against a relatively slower bruiser like Kenpachi, as his glaring weakness is his reaction time needed to activate the Visionary. He "could" imagine anything he wants, but he needs just enough time and breathing room to think about what he wants to materialize. Anyone faster than Kenpachi with just enough aggro/bloodlust deals with him easily. Anyone that can keep him on the defensive is winning due to him being unable to not overthink in those situations.

Reiatsu negates gremmy's abilities to a degree. It's the reason he couldn't turn Kenny's bones into cookies or why he couldn't just make him explode. He can't just say "ice doesn't work on me". If that were the case, he'd say "swords can't cut me".

The fight with Gremmy vs Yamamoto would turn out the exact same way with Yamamoto vs Wonderwiess. Quite literally. Once Gremmy uses the guns and the smoke clears, a scuffed up Yama will utter, "is that all?" Power up then hit him with the kido destroying him. No bankai needed. Yamamoto isn't going to entertain Gremmy the way Kenpachi did.
I think there's a reason why they made gremmy's fight so short in manga and even shorter in the anime. He basically has 2nd most broken ability in whole verse (only after yhwach, and yes, i scale it above balance and antithesis). I think kubo would have even regretted after creating gremmy and i also think he was a result of improper planning and lack of time writing manga. If he had been given any more time in the anime or manga, there would be exponential growth in questions about how can such a broken character be even defeated. And thats the reason why they made in fight zaraki, the most nonhaxed characted in bleach. Y'all highballing Gremmy too much. The problem with The Visionary is that if Gremmy has a *single doubt*, he loses because the doubt gets imposed onto himself. It's not so easy as saying 'I can't be hurt' or 'You die now', Gremmy always has to apply actual constraints to his imagination. For example, he specifically makes his body harder than steel, not invulnerable because our imagination cannot create true invulnerability unless we know exactly how powerful the attack is. I agree with the lower tier captains + Ukitake losing, they're far too weak and non-threatening to really push Gremmy into a corner. Soi Fon maybe has a chance if she psyches Gremmy out with her two-hit kill, but if he realises she's going to end it fast he'll probably pull a meteor out. Shinji also has one edgecase if Gremmy creates clones of himself, but he'd probably blow them all up before they can kill him. Kyoraku does not enjoy drawing out a fight, no clue where y'all got this from. His two fights are long yes, but he always tries to go for the kill. They only go as long because his opponent can keep up with him. The numerous games Kyoraku has will keep Gremmy on his toes, and Shunsui is terrifying when he needs to be. He may not be as serious as Yama or Kenpachi, but his chill demeanour juxtaposed by his actions will throw Gremmy for a loop. His bankai also has an easy wincon by just destroying Gremmy's head. He has no idea what is happening, he'll heal up the wounds, maybe heal up the sickness too, but the final act will kill him because he'd have no clue what is going on until it's too late. Shunsui's bankai is broken, there's a reason someone as powerful as Lille was powerless to do anything against it, he couldn't even fire any attacks while it was happening. Byakuya has a lower chance of winning, but it is definitely plausible. He always goes for the kill quickly, never giving his opponent a chance to breathe. Keep in mind, Gremmy would've died to Zaraki's sealed Nozarashi if he didn't stop and allow Gremmy to recover. Byakuya isn't giving him that chance. If eyepatch Zaraki with a sealed sword can push Gremmy to nearly kill himself, so can EoS Byakuya with Bankai. Y'all are overlooking how much Zaraki drew out his fight with Gremmy to enjoy himself, numerous times he stops and goads Gremmy into trying harder instead of ending it, and the fight ends on Gremmy's terms anyway, Zaraki wanted to keep going. This is also why Unohana beats Gremmy. While yes, Shikai Kenpachi is more than what he needed to kill Unohana, again keep in mind that he would've killed Gremmy with his sealed zanpakuto had he not stopped Gremmy from imagining his death. This is also very contentious, and if Unohana draws out the fight then she'll probably lose imo. And it's in character for her to do so, so I'd give her like a 6/10 chance. The rest are pretty accurate, though if you want to include other captains, Aizen and Urahara also stand a high chance, with Gin and Yoruichi as like a 4/10 chance.
Not gonna lie, this is more of a hypothetical rather than realistic outcomes. Gremmy was scared of base Kenpachi and thought he might lose just because he...cut steel? Kenpachi kind of gave him advice and time to regain composure. Yama, Unohana, Shunsui, Toshiro, Byakuya and even Komamura could rattle him, but they wouldnt let him adjust unlike Kenpachi. Mayuri and Shinji talk to much so idk there. Hell id argue Sui Feng would hit him, he would wonder what the butterfly thing is, then get hit again and die before thinking of a solution. He has a broken ability but is a terrible combatant. I doubt he has knowledge on the captains either since in the manga he was locked up

Reiatsu is the key here, because we have 2 possible scenarios: 1: The Visionary is not linked to reiatsu: Anything is possible, he just need to imagine it. Absolute broken, he could have just imagined a brick in the place of the of the brain of every captain and one shot them 2: its linked to reiatsu: Not everything is possible there are limits and you cant just go full god mode and one shot everyone. I personally think its the second one, otherwise kenpachi would be dead in like, 2 seconds.
I think you did unohana a little dirty. She killed kenpachi and then healed over and over again, and did not resolve to quit until he had finally killed her. I think no matter how much gremmy kills her, turns her to dust, imagines her bones being cookies or whatever, she can instantly heal herself and send herself back into the fray. Also Unohana was literally the first kenpachi, and even has the admiration and respect of Yhwach himself due to being from the OG Gotei 13 and still being one of those terrifying thugs from way back when. I think her situation would play out similarly to kenpachi, where Gremmy was so terrified and so rattled by her that he couldn't actually imagine her dead. Not to mention his mental fragility.

Gremmy's weakness is his own mental state, not his potential. He is childlike and has a very limited imagination and doesn't have any real battle experience with his ability because like he said no one dared fight him because of how powerful his ability was. He could've won against Kenpachi by just simply kept spamming the space ability while having multiple clones preventing Kenpachi from killing him completely with counterattacks. He'd win a battle of attrition.

You guys forgot kenpachi fought gremmy with the eyepatch on. The Shikai strike in the anime is directly comparable to his kid Zaraki strength which was able to scar unohana but not kill her, Unohana is still stronger. Also captain’s and lieutenants can open doors from dimension to dimension, unohana, shunsui and Byakuya would be able to come back from space as well. Shunsui can use gremmys shadow to escape it as well.
for the unohana one it doesn't change much , since gremmy could still fight after the shikai strike but killed himself due to his body not handling the physical changes

Zaraki jumped up still in base and only unlocked his Shikai while directly cutting the meteor. Take unohana as an example, if shikai amped her stats why didn’t she use it in muken before bankai? Also aizen he was fighting the captains in FKT while using his shikai but since ichigo wasn’t affected by the hypnosis, ichigo was basically fighting base aizen so tell me again if not for the ability what amps do shinigami receive while using shikai? Yoruichi literally explained in SS arc that bankai amplifies the stats by a factor of 10 to the base and ichigo who is in constant release still gained a 10 times multiplier to his speed, if shikai was also a multiplier then his Bankai should have only amped him by a factor of 2 not 10 since that only affects shinigamis who’re in base. Shikai zaraki can cut anything even while with the eyepatch is on but his reiatsu is half that of base zaraki without the eyepatch. Shikai zarakis full reiatsu is = Kid zarakis. I think Gremmy's power has a limitation as shown in his fight with kenpachi. it takes more copies to imagine bigger things (like the meteor & the space vacuum). Shunsui's bankai would be a nice counter especially since Gremmy's biggest weakness is doubt.
As far as past and present goes, Yama, Shinigami Aizen, TYBW Yoruichi, Post 0 Squad Byakuya, Kyoraku, Post Zombie revival/Gerard fight Toshiro (both Kid and Adult), Zaraki, Mayuri, and Urahara are the ones that can potentially win But out of that group only Aizen with Caja Negacion, Adult Toshiro with his conceptual power null ice and Zaraki can definitely escape Galaxy Room if he uses it on them. Mayuri and Urahara should be able to in all likelihood but we’ve never seen it. The rest get negged by it even if they can beat Gremmy in other ways You guys also seem to ignore the fact that Gremmy’s abilities are limited to his reiryoku/reiatsu level. He needs to multiply himself/his AP to do stronger techniques, he can be blitzed and his imagination can be out sped, and his durability can be overpowered to the point where his brain dies and he can’t heal.
You are right on the Reiryoku but you give him too much credit those most of those people will either definetly beat him and some even no no diff him there's also Ichibei being a negative diff and the other Zero Squad members who can potentially do him in too Zero Squad only went down after Yhwach Auwhalened all of the Vandenreich to boost the Schuztafaels just to give perspective on this when Mayuri "revived" Kira after Kira got oneshot by Bazz-B he did something similar by taking the Reiatsu of 4 Squad 3 *officers* (not regular Shinigamis but still) and giving it to Kira and this boosted Kira so bad that he went from being no diffed by a Sternritter to no diffing Shaz Domino (who had even been given a letter by Yhwach) so considering that the Shuztafaels got the Reiatdu of Almost all of the Vandenreich the Zero Squad likely went down that easy because they werent expecting such a power increase and therefore got taken down instantly despite having been dominating them before this

I think most captains can take Gremmy, his ability is crazy but he's pretty stupid. Anyone that can scare him, or make him doubt that he can win can probably beat him. For example if Soifon hits him with Suzumebachi and tells him that's an instant kill move Gremmy WILL imagine himself dying and therefore die. The same could be said about Shunsui's bankai. I think the only ones that lose to him are those who blatantly explain their powers (Vizards pretty much), or those who rely on firepower but just don't have enough, such as Komamura or Byakuya. Anyone with some serious hax and some brainpower can easily trick Gremmy into imagining his demise. We don't even know if Schrifts can work on the soul king but I doubt it, so Ukitake probably takes it with Mimihagi's help.

Because they are mainly using an example of what if gremmy had experience in fights to begin with. Gremmy was like an literally child who was bored, locked up in a cell for god knows how, and the only challenge he had was against kenpachi who hyped him up to the point he was straight up going all in without thinking straight or making any plans at all. Like they said gremmy had the potential to beat kenpachi, but his power while being extremely powerful it’s an double edge blade. He unconsciously visualize kenpachi as an monster, because there was no one who challenged his power straight up or question it. Gremmy used methods in the fight that could kill more ordinary opponents, like when he turn the surrounding air in kenpachi to water and then split the earth and bury him. Gremmy thought methods like that could deal against kenpachi, since he didn’t see kenpachi as something special until kenpachi slowly was proving him wrong, hence why he lost cool and started imagining his death. Gremmy then didn’t realize he was unconsciously powering up kenpachi even further by calling him an monster, basically making him unstoppable. Imagine you have the power to do create anything, and you do something that could destroy the soul society completely along side everyone in it, and suddenly the opponent you’re facing easily deals with that attack? You would be shock, while also in disbelief slowly making an imagine of your opponent as some sort of god. Any wrong thoughts can be lethal to himself just as easy as it is to imagine. That is gremmy’s power… So much potential yet such a big weakness as well.

Gremmy himself stated that he in fact imagine perfectly kenpachi’s power, but he then also stated that his body wasn’t strong enough, until he corrected himself calling that statement an “excuse”. In reality what Gremmy didn’t state was that he could’ve possibly made an fitting body to use kenpachi’s power to the full extent. We saw that gremmy unconsciously was buffing kenpachi as he imagine him as a monster. Meaning, at that point kenpachi was unstoppable thanks to gremmy’s point of view. The reason is basically that Gremmy while being completely inexperienced, which meant that he never expected to find someone that could match his power or defy even what seemed impossible in his eyes. In the end he found an opponent who defy all odds against him, and overcome anything throw at him. That made Gremmy transform kenpachi into an monster. That is what i think so i hope it is atleast somewhat understandable.

Shunsui is the MVP here. Not only does his Bankai induce depression, but his Zanpakuto in general imposes its own rules on reality. He could force Gremmy to only attack when he calls out a color, or kill Gremmy instantly by making him 'it', or force Gremmy along the play of his Bankai until his inevitable death.
I think a lot of people forget that Gremmy isn't the only reality warper here.

Guys there are limitations to Gremmy's powers that you're completely ignoring... an example being he is limited to his speed of reaction (if he can't react fast enough and is blitzed then it doesn't matter). Another example is that he can only imagine a few things at a time and if there's a lapse in that imagination, it goes away (meaning that what he imagines isn't permanent)
If I'm being honest there are only 2 reasons why gremmy couldn't 1 tap kenpachi.. not enough reiatsu as his imagination is reiatsu based or his ego got in the way geemmy wanted to crush kenpachi then kills him most likely but its very likely that he didn't have enough reiatsu so he was forced to conjured up objects instead of forces such as meteorites I think this fact about gremmys heavily misunderstood as weakness

lmfao ya'll overestimate gremmy way too much. in no universe does gremmy beat yamamoto. "A battle between shinigami is a battle between reiatsu" -aizen, and the same logic can be applied with every character with reiatsu in Bleach. Gremmy's reiatsu just wont be enough to warp the reality of Yama's body. An example would be that Gremmy didn't reality warp or manipulate Kenpachi's body in any way such as turning Kenpachi's bones into cookies. Because Kenpachi just has that much more reiatsu than Gremmy, his body wouldn't be affected by imaginations like that (just like how Soi Fon's 2 hti kill poison had no affect on Aizen) but instead has to rely on other methods to fight kenpachi.
Gremmy's reiatsu wasnt strong enough to match with Kenpachi's thats why he died. No matter how calm Gremmy is when fighting Yamamoto he simple wont have enough reiatsu to match and beat Yama.
Same thing goes for Shunsui, I believe Shunsui can match or even have greater reiatsu compared to gremmy so he can also beat him or negate his body manipulating imaginations that affects Shunsui himself, so gremmy would have to reply on other things to fight shunsui with such as imagining a metoer or space itself. But gremmy would be caught in the affects of Shunsui's Zanpakuto which then he has to abide by the rules set by his Zanpakuto which would make the fight more even.
And technically speaking, Shinji's Shikai could negate the meteor cos he can invert the direction of incoming attacks, and injury locations. So if the meteor is falling down, then his shikai could make it so the impact is above, in the sky and not on the ground. Shinji's shikai also has so much untapped potential cos in the novels he was training to inverse hot and cold..
The problem I see with this is first you're scaling this based off of his ability and not the actual character. His ability is broken in the right hands, but for Gremmy anyone around Shikai Kenpachi's level should be able to deal with him.

Gremmy is on the weaker side tbh. People just hype him up because he fought kempachi. Anyone fast enough can one shot him. Even gin could one shot him from a mile away. To imagine something takes time. Imagining anything to counter an ability is really hard and he proved that he needs 2 of him for the meteor and 8 for the Galaxy room. It's clear he has hard limits on what he can do . He can't fight more than 1 person at a time. He proves he has to focus on everything he imagines for those things to keep being real. It's just a cool gimmick and nothing more. Compare him to even Bambi or bazz b. They at least don't crumble in 2 minutes because they have weak mental.

And Gremmy ranks in the middle, the Sternritter!
And again Gremmy never said he was the strongest Quincy at all! He literally said he’s the strongest “STERNRITTER” which is a big difference than just Quincy. Kenpachi said “if you’re the strong Quincy shouldn’t you kill the strongest enemy” I’m paraphrasing it was something like that, and then Gremmy said “I never thought of it like that”. I think the issue a lot of people are having is that they are completely underestimating how strong kenpachi is. They for some reason see Gremmy lose to kenpachi and then think Gremmy is weak somehow. Gremmy was the secret weapon of the quincies. Just like Kenpachi was the secret weapon of the soul reapers. Shunsui basically sacrificed unohana to get the full powered kenpachi. The same unohana who would have smoked most of the other soul reapers. It was worth sacrificing her to gain the power the kenpachi gained. People really are not comprehending that.
Gremmy was locked up by the quincies, Yhwach let him out to specifically try to take out kenpachi.
Blows my mind people thinking Gremmy is overhyped when the dude has one of the most broken abilities in the show. I think Ukitake is being severely overlooked but it's more so due to us nor getting much info about him. Byakuya on the other hand I think could defeat Gremmy but it would lie in his immense knowledge of Hado and Kido. I also think he would be able to use Gremmys ability against him just like they backfired against him in his fight with Kenny.

The thing about gremmy is that if anybody can make him doubt his own abilities like zaraki did then gremmy basically loses. I feel like captains such as shunsui, byakuya, zaraki, yamamoto, sajin, and unohana would be able to win since they either have overwhelming power or they have such a high battle iq that they could get a sneak attack in that could kill gremmy. Yama stomps, mayuri outsmarts, invulnerable sajin has a chance cuz there is no proof that gremmy can imagine away innate powers, tosh stomps as he was able to freeze and shatter a sword that embodies the concept of the hope of the masses, byakuya likely outsmarts and skill diffs, and even renji probably has a chance. Gremmy is NOT schutzstaffel level; there is a reason he isn’t one.

A lot of the captains are speedster and strategists and since Gremmy can only imagine one thing at a time, there's no way you guys are seriously saying Kenpachi who literally only has his cutting power is the only person in the Gotei who can comfortably beat him.

I think Gremmy's Schrift "The Visionary" is indeed very powerful but it quite clearly has limitations. It's difficult to point what exactly they are since Kubo doesn't quite say
but I think based off the fight and also Yachiru's fight with "The Vanishing Point" we can infer that Gremmy's power although incredibly strong has some major flaws:
1. Gremmy's imagination seems to be limited to things that are concrete rather than things that are abstract. Meaning that Gremmy can imagine his body is stronger than steel but
he cannot imagine that his body is "the strongest". Meanwhile Zaraki Kenpachi's ability to cut anything is abstract. It's not something that can really be calculated.
If Gremmy tries to imagine something abstract like "I just need to be stronger than the strongest" his vision will apart because such an abstract idea can never be concrete.
2. Gremmy's imagination is limited to his attention span. As soon as he stops thinking about something he imagined it no longer exists.
3. Gremmy's imagination is affected by his state of mind which makes his power a huge double edge sword because if he imagines his own death it will happen.
However that said I think in order to conjure something into existence he has to make a conscience effort. Which brings up the next weakness.
4. Gremmy's imagination is something he needs to be actively thinking about. In other words if someone were to get the jump on him and killed him he couldn't simply
imagine he wasn't dead because he would be dead. So Gremmy needs to be aware that his enemies are there.

If Gremmy can’t imagine himself being as strong as Kenpachi he is not beating RG training Byakuya. Adult Toshiro is definitely winning. Shunsui gives gremmy depression and makes him kill himself, u were not cooking when you said his hax isn’t relevant, he can literally inflict the same win con against Gremmy that Kenpachi did (mindfucking him into making him lose). Gremmy’s ability is great but it’s not “I can’t ever be hurt by anyone ever because I said I can’t be” strong.
Something that I haven’t seen someone mention yet is battle experience. One of the factors that played into Gremmy’s defeat was lack of battle experience. For how overwhelming ridiculous Gremmy’s ability is, his solutions seem relatively simplistic. Soul Reapers use a sword? I’ll make my body harder than a sword. Up to the point of putting Kenpachi in space, everything he imagined was really simple. This shows that Gremmy doesn’t have the battle intelligence to put his busted ability to it’s fullest. His lack of experience leads to the point people are bringing up which is giving him negative thoughts to make him lose through sheer mental diff. There are a couple characters that would feasibly be able to pull this off. Shunsui, Urahara, and Aiken are great examples of people that could completely dismantle Gremmy’s mental stability. Shunsui is the biggest disagreement I have but people have already voiced that.
Gremmy's ability is being extremely oversold here, he isn't beating any of the upper tier captains Shunsui especially and his greatest weakness is his own mind once you get him to doubt or stop thinking he's done you can basically manipulate is mind and he can't think your body is a cookie if your spiritual pressure is higher than his. And Shunsui bankai is reality warping it cant be nagated like that if he could negate shikai and bankai then kenpachi would have never won. All Shunsui has to do against his meteor is hide in his shadow and cut his head off he is a cunning fox that will do anything to win.
I think a really interesting situation would be if for in some impossible scenario shinji forced him to create clones then popped his bankai. Then it’s just Gremmy clones fighting each other which would be insane

Gremmy's best chance WAS against a relatively slower bruiser like Kenpachi, as his glaring weakness is his reaction time needed to activate the Visionary. He "could" imagine anything he wants, but he needs just enough time and breathing room to think about what he wants to materialize. Anyone faster than Kenpachi with just enough aggro/bloodlust deals with him easily. Anyone that can keep him on the defensive is winning due to him being unable to not overthink in those situations.

Quite literally. Once Gremmy uses the guns and the smoke clears, a scuffed up Yama will utter, "is that all?" Power up then hit him with the kido destroying him. No bankai needed. Yamamoto isn't going to entertain Gremmy the way Kenpachi did.
I think there's a reason why they made gremmy's fight so short in manga and even shorter in the anime. He basically has 2nd most broken ability in whole verse (only after yhwach, and yes, i scale it above balance and antithesis). I think kubo would have even regretted after creating gremmy and i also think he was a result of improper planning and lack of time writing manga. If he had been given any more time in the anime or manga, there would be exponential growth in questions about how can such a broken character be even defeated. And thats the reason why they made in fight zaraki, the most nonhaxed characted in bleach. If he fought anyone else, that would have made him show his true hax and then it would be very hard for the storywriters to actually kill him.

toshiro literaly froze a STRONGER FORM of gerard that BANKAI KENPACHI fought. kenpachi need to realese more power to fight a weaker form of gerard (which is why his arm broke) while toshiro flash freeze a stronger form of gerard. the way hax works in bleach is that with a huge difference in spirirt power the weaker hax loses or gets canceled out. adult toshiro should fold greemy hax or not.
Y'all highballing Gremmy too much. The problem with The Visionary is that if Gremmy has a *single doubt*, he loses because the doubt gets imposed onto himself. It's not so easy as saying 'I can't be hurt' or 'You die now', Gremmy always has to apply actual constraints to his imagination. For example, he specifically makes his body harder than steel, not invulnerable because our imagination cannot create true invulnerability unless we know exactly how powerful the attack is.
I agree with the lower tier captains + Ukitake losing, they're far too weak and non-threatening to really push Gremmy into a corner. Soi Fon maybe has a chance if she psyches Gremmy out with her two-hit kill, but if he realises she's going to end it fast he'll probably pull a meteor out. Shinji also has one edgecase if Gremmy creates clones of himself, but he'd probably blow them all up before they can kill him.
Kyoraku does not enjoy drawing out a fight, no clue where y'all got this from. His two fights are long yes, but he always tries to go for the kill. They only go as long because his opponent can keep up with him. The numerous games Kyoraku has will keep Gremmy on his toes, and Shunsui is terrifying when he needs to be. He may not be as serious as Yama or Kenpachi, but his chill demeanour juxtaposed by his actions will throw Gremmy for a loop. His bankai also has an easy wincon by just destroying Gremmy's head. He has no idea what is happening, he'll heal up the wounds, maybe heal up the sickness too, but the final act will kill him because he'd have no clue what is going on until it's too late. Shunsui's bankai is broken, there's a reason someone as powerful as Lille was powerless to do anything against it, he couldn't even fire any attacks while it was happening.
Byakuya has a lower chance of winning, but it is definitely plausible. He always goes for the kill quickly, never giving his opponent a chance to breathe. Keep in mind, Gremmy would've died to Zaraki's sealed Nozarashi if he didn't stop and allow Gremmy to recover. Byakuya isn't giving him that chance. If eyepatch Zaraki with a sealed sword can push Gremmy to nearly kill himself, so can EoS Byakuya with Bankai. Y'all are overlooking how much Zaraki drew out his fight with Gremmy to enjoy himself, numerous times he stops and goads Gremmy into trying harder instead of ending it, and the fight ends on Gremmy's terms anyway, Zaraki wanted to keep going.
This is also why Unohana beats Gremmy. While yes, Shikai Kenpachi is more than what he needed to kill Unohana, again keep in mind that he would've killed Gremmy with his sealed zanpakuto had he not stopped Gremmy from imagining his death. This is also very contentious, and if Unohana draws out the fight then she'll probably lose imo. And it's in character for her to do so, so I'd give her like a 6/10 chance.
The rest are pretty accurate, though if you want to include other captains, Aizen and Urahara also stand a high chance, with Gin and Yoruichi as like a 4/10 chance.
Not gonna lie, this is more of a hypothetical rather than realistic outcomes. Gremmy was scared of base Kenpachi and thought he might lose just because he...cut steel? Kenpachi kind of gave him advice and time to regain composure. Yama, Unohana, Shunsui, Toshiro, Byakuya and even Komamura could rattle him, but they wouldnt let him adjust unlike Kenpachi. Mayuri and Shinji talk to much so idk there. Hell id argue Sui Feng would hit him, he would wonder what the butterfly thing is, then get hit again and die before thinking of a solution. He has a broken ability but is a terrible combatant. I doubt he has knowledge on the captains either since in the manga he was locked up

Reiatsu is the key here, because we have 2 possible scenarios:
1: The Visionary is not linked to reiatsu: Anything is possible, he just need to imagine it. Absolute broken, he could have just imagined a brick in the place of the of the brain of every captain and one shot them
2: its linked to reiatsu: Not everything is possible there are limits and you cant just go full god mode and one shot everyone.
I personally think its the second one, otherwise kenpachi would be dead in like, 2 seconds.
I think you did unohana a little dirty. She killed kenpachi and then healed over and over again, and did not resolve to quit until he had finally killed her. I think no matter how much gremmy kills her, turns her to dust, imagines her bones being cookies or whatever, she can instantly heal herself and send herself back into the fray. Also Unohana was literally the first kenpachi, and even has the admiration and respect of Yhwach himself due to being from the OG Gotei 13 and still being one of those terrifying thugs from way back when. I think her situation would play out similarly to kenpachi, where Gremmy was so terrified and so rattled by her that he couldn't actually imagine her dead. Not to mention his mental fragility.

So she should be stronger than an awakened Kenny with his eyepatch on without a doubt. So no, the Kenny Gremmy was defeated by was not stronger than Unohana. She should be above any one of his forms with eyepatch on since she’s relative to his awakened base without his eyepatch. And it’s not like shikai is a multiplier anyway. Eyepatch is his greatest power amp that we have seen.

Gremmy's weakness is his own mental state, not his potential. He is childlike and has a very limited imagination and doesn't have any real battle experience with his ability because like he said no one dared fight him because of how powerful his ability was. He could've won against Kenpachi by just simply kept spamming the space ability while having multiple clones preventing Kenpachi from killing him completely with counterattacks. He'd win a battle of attrition.

The Shikai strike in the anime is directly comparable to his kid Zaraki strength which was able to scar unohana but not kill her, Unohana is still stronger.
Also captain’s and lieutenants can open doors from dimension to dimension, unohana, shunsui and Byakuya would be able to come back from space as well.
Shunsui can use gremmys shadow to escape it as well.
for the unohana one it doesn't change much , since gremmy could still fight after the shikai strike but killed himself due to his body not handling the physical changes

Yoruichi literally explained in SS arc that bankai amplifies the stats by a factor of 10 to the base and ichigo who is in constant release still gained a 10 times multiplier to his speed, if shikai was also a multiplier then his Bankai should have only amped him by a factor of 2 not 10 since that only affects shinigamis who’re in base.
Shikai zaraki can cut anything even while with the eyepatch is on but his reiatsu is half that of base zaraki without the eyepatch.
Shikai zarakis full reiatsu is = Kid zarakis.
What killed gremmy wasn’t Shikai zarakis cutting powers it was eyepatch zarakis reiatsu when he tried to copy it for his weak body which was half his base reiatsu, unohana possesses more reiatsu than base zaraki with the eyepatch on.
Unohana vs Gremmy will end almost the same but the difference is unohana will be fresh out of that fight due to her healing abilities.

Sure he might not have been more intelligent or know as many techniques as her but he was always stronger and better than her, that's why she died. I think Gremmy's power has a limitation as shown in his fight with kenpachi. it takes more copies to imagine bigger things (like the meteor & the space vacuum). Shunsui's bankai would be a nice counter especially since Gremmy's biggest weakness is doubt.
As far as past and present goes, Yama, Shinigami Aizen, TYBW Yoruichi, Post 0 Squad Byakuya, Kyoraku, Post Zombie revival/Gerard fight Toshiro (both Kid and Adult), Zaraki, Mayuri, and Urahara are the ones that can potentially win
But out of that group only Aizen with Caja Negacion, Adult Toshiro with his conceptual power null ice and Zaraki can definitely escape Galaxy Room if he uses it on them. Mayuri and Urahara should be able to in all likelihood but we’ve never seen it. The rest get negged by it even if they can beat Gremmy in other ways
You guys also seem to ignore the fact that Gremmy’s abilities are limited to his reiryoku/reiatsu level. He needs to multiply himself/his AP to do stronger techniques, he can be blitzed and his imagination can be out sped, and his durability can be overpowered to the point where his brain dies and he can’t heal.
You are right on the Reiryoku but you give him too much credit those most of those people will either definetly beat him and some even no no diff him
there's also Ichibei being a negative diff and the other Zero Squad members who can potentially do him in too
Zero Squad only went down after Yhwach Auwhalened all of the Vandenreich to boost the Schuztafaels
just to give perspective on this when Mayuri "revived" Kira after Kira got oneshot by Bazz-B he did something similar by taking the Reiatsu of 4 Squad 3 *officers* (not regular Shinigamis but still) and giving it to Kira and this boosted Kira so bad that he went from being no diffed by a Sternritter to no diffing Shaz Domino (who had even been given a letter by Yhwach)
so considering that the Shuztafaels got the Reiatdu of Almost all of the Vandenreich the Zero Squad likely went down that easy because they werent expecting such a power increase and therefore got taken down instantly despite having been dominating them before this

I think most captains can take Gremmy, his ability is crazy but he's pretty stupid. Anyone that can scare him, or make him doubt that he can win can probably beat him. For example if Soifon hits him with Suzumebachi and tells him that's an instant kill move Gremmy WILL imagine himself dying and therefore die. The same could be said about Shunsui's bankai. I think the only ones that lose to him are those who blatantly explain their powers (Vizards pretty much), or those who rely on firepower but just don't have enough, such as Komamura or Byakuya. Anyone with some serious hax and some brainpower can easily trick Gremmy into imagining his demise. We don't even know if Schrifts can work on the soul king but I doubt it, so Ukitake probably takes it with Mimihagi's help.
