Yeah this board is bs with the pipe system. It was certainly made with partner party in mind because this board is much more fun when you’re essentially in 2 places at once (well this is most of partner party). The bridge breaking and the broken shop getting destroyed after a while makes it even worse. Like if the pipe existed in this board, this board would be more fun in solo play Similar to how woody woods was made with the reverse shroom in mind so it doesn’t work without it
Yeah I think on partner party it's fine but on Mario party it's complete garbage, Also it's outclasted by Yoshi's tropical island, not even close. Just note that I rather play any other mario party board than the ones in super mario party.
It's my favourite board for pro rules honestly. It doesn't change too much, but I think some of the removed luck elements actually make the board even stronger. It's such a fun board to strategize on.

I overall like the boards in Mario Party Jamboree while I dislike pretty much all boards in Mario Party Superstars (but I think that’s because I played it too much and got tired of them).

The problem with Horror Land is that the chomp call is available in the shop from round 1, so no one ever gets a star the normal way which is really annoying
Rainbow Galleria is my favorite personally, due to item and path availability it prevents the board from feeling like it decides who wins and rather it actually is designed to give each player the right amount of choices, it makes me more upset that Goomba lagoon was so botched.
The tides are completely predictable outside of the odd happening space here and there, so it's pretty easy to form a strategy around it and idk why people always hate this board. If you go on that 4 space island 1 turn before high tide it's your own fault

Yeah I’m not sure why so many people don’t like goomba lagoon. I think it’s pretty good. If you get stuck it’s kind of on you since you get a heads up. And it’s only for a turn or two

You can get trapped but at the very most it’s 2 turns and there is items like the shop warp and magic conch that can help you out. Also it’s very star heavy and you aren’t disincentivized from using a double or triple dice unlike MP4.
I got 7 friends that i play with. We are in 4 teams and we change controllers to our partner each turn. Its so hilarious with goomba lagoon, because we are being mean on purpose, using the shell when someone is stuck on that island, and it ends up someone is stuck there for 6-9 turns. We play mario party to hate eachother and being as rude as possible. Perfect map for us ahah.

The only thing keeping it from last is that it does have pretty good board design. Peach's Birthday Cake is only that high bc I have nostalgia for it lol. Yoshi's Tropical Island is, in my opinion, the perfect Mario Party board. You can screw your friends by moving the star, which could also get you the star, there's an element of choice with the Thwomps but you can also screw your friends by making the Thwomp toll ridiculous, and there's a choice between the two islands, either going to the boo or going to the shop and getting 10 coins from Koopa. Everything about the board is well-designed.

I think rainbow castle is better than peach's cake because as the video said, on peach's cake it doesn't seem like theres anything you have control over. Its just rolling the dice. There are no paths you have the choice to go by, you only really get to chose maybe to custom dice on the slide. With rainbow castle, theres choices to be made. You want to avoid getting a ztar so you sometimes chose the longer path. You have an incentive to custom dice onto a happening to avoid something, and i mean you can even buy the item that switches things. You can also chose the split path for boo.

Go through a loop, hope you get the star, maybe try and sabatoge opponents with bowser. What I like about rainbow castle is how they store boo away in a longer path making you decide. And the split path at the end being there to have you stall time feels good. It also feels nice that you can pay the price of a star to have things work in your favor. Yoshi’s tropical island, idk. I’m not a fan of the thwomp gimmick, it rarely feels impactful cuz everyone just puts 1 coin at the start, and usually by the end you have enough coins to where 10 coins isn’t a lot, if it gets to there. And I dislike how boo is just something you naturally come across, I feel like boo is just too powerful and prefer when it’s out of your way like behind gates, I also dislike the warp pipe at the end cuz it makes the last few turns make the strategy feel like oh just go to the shop. As for wild woods, idk I echo what the video said where the paths splitting just feel very awkward and something you don’t have much control over.

Yea one game was just a return to the original formula cause people were unhappy with the previous games and jamboree has two returning boards cause the last game went over really well and the devs probably figured it might be a good idea to add a few previous boards for nostalgia and for the younger audience who can’t buy a game cube or n64 to play the old ones
Before playing Super Mario Party Jamboree, I would be inclined to get defensive over the original Super Mario Party. I find Jamboree better, to the point where it's my favorite game on the Switch, but I maintain a decent fondness of Super. While I do find a lot of the hate for SMP to be exaggerated...I do agree that its boards are weak. Four in total is an embarrassing amount, although I don't dislike the grid layout. Personally, I'd swap Megafruit Paradise with Kamek's Tantalizing Tower; the Kamek stage is enjoyable, but just a bit too short. Super Mario Party Jamboree, however, has much better boards. They all feel thoughtful in craft and are loads of fun to play on. If pressed, I'd put Roll 'em Raceway at the bottom, if only because I find its events a bit hit or miss. i never played the first mario party on switch, but i have played the other 2 extensively. Superstars 12. Peach Cake (Boring and linear) Jamboree 12. Peach Cake (Boring and linear) 11. Goomba Lagoon (stuck on a small island can be frustrating) 10. Tropical paradise (fun board. Decent gimmick) 9. Woody Woods (Hate the every move swap) 8. Wiggler Tea Party (super basic, boring) 7. Space Land (not terribly exciting, bowser rarely is useful enough to hit someone) 6. Raceway (Turbo dice SUCK) 5. Mario Castle (gimmick is fun but kinda frustrating) 4. Western Land (love this classic board. Great elements. Train) 3. Horror Land (Fun all around. Great elements, day night cycle different boos based on cycle) 2. for me horror land sucks. Despite the mechanic of there being a lot of boos, the boos end up getting used on horror land LESS than any other map with boos. This is because the GARBAGE day and night cycle limiting the amount of boos you use, and even when it's night 2 of the boos are limited to skeleton keys which are very rare on this map for some reason unless you purposely get them. Not to mention using the boos isnt even as optimal as just playing normaly also I love megafruit paradise because you can farm the s**t out of golden pipes
I kinda disagree with the placement of the super mario party board placements. Mainly because Space Land exists (I’d rank space land as 1 above mega fruit). Once I saw Whomp in the lower half, I knew we were gonna throw hands. That board is actually good.
Yeah, I agree that MegaFruit Paradise is the worst Mario Party board on the Switch. The only ways to navigate through the four islands are having to land on an event space to go through the pipes (which requires strategy) and having to walk through destructible bridges. The first bridge is the sand bridge where if you cross it so many times, it will collapse and disappear for the rest of the game! This is truly diabolical! The second bridge is the wooden bridge that Blooper watches over. If you land on an event space on that bridge, Blooper will get angry and send you to the very beginning of the board.
nah but how are space land and bowsers island better than goomba lagoon,in bowsers island you can get stuck in the middle for 20 turns straight the only thing that can save you is the lever while space land is literally the same thing but atleast you can stay in the middle(if you get there)
Only thing placement I very much disagree with is woody woods it should have been top 7 maybe 6 personally. The others one I would make minor changes liking moving up or down one but can get behind the rest
Disagree on Goomba Lagoon, it's at least top 3 boards in Jamboree for me imo I think. Love PBC but it has gameplay flaws like how if you have enough coins, going past Bowser is ideal so you can get another star faster. I honestly though Western Land is fine but overrated.
thats what i was thinking too lol. i love the mall board but i was like...chance time is literally avaliable on any space and so are custom dice. also i really dont feel like everyone has an item at all times...3 stores are locked behind an event space
I honestly hate Mario's Rainbow Castle. I love the way it looks, but there's only 2 branching paths and that's it. Plus, going back to the beginning after getting a star/ztar makes Mario's Rainbow Castle super linear. I would say it's worse than the Super Mario Party boards.
I really don't see why people like Rainbow Galleria so much. Its a decent board don't get me wrong, but it really suffers the most from the Jamboree economy and buddy mechanics imo. That and the bloated amounts of unskippable fluff animations really make the board play like a drag to me. They did nail the theme and the layout is really good too but it isn't the best imo.

for me horror land sucks. Despite the mechanic of there being a lot of boos, the boos end up getting used on horror land LESS than any other map with boos. This is because the GARBAGE day and night cycle limiting the amount of boos you use, and even when it's night 2 of the boos are limited to skeleton keys which are very rare on this map for some reason unless you purposely get them. Not to mention using the boos isnt even as optimal as just playing normaly
also I love megafruit paradise because you can farm the s**t out of golden pipes

Ngl i hate roll'em race way it only has 2 split pathes and you are garanteed to get to boo witch makes it really unfair if youre in first
The problem with Super mario Party jamboree is theirs a Boo in each stage with online that's what people tend to do

I kinda disagree with the placement of the super mario party board placements. Mainly because Space Land exists (I’d rank space land as 1 above mega fruit). Once I saw Whomp in the lower half, I knew we were gonna throw hands. That board is actually good.

Yeah, I agree that MegaFruit Paradise is the worst Mario Party board on the Switch. The only ways to navigate through the four islands are having to land on an event space to go through the pipes (which requires strategy) and having to walk through destructible bridges. The first bridge is the sand bridge where if you cross it so many times, it will collapse and disappear for the rest of the game! This is truly diabolical! The second bridge is the wooden bridge that Blooper watches over. If you land on an event space on that bridge, Blooper will get angry and send you to the very beginning of the board.
I kid you not, he said illusion of choice twice.

nah but how are space land and bowsers island better than goomba lagoon,in bowsers island you can get stuck in the middle for 20 turns straight the only thing that can save you is the lever while space land is literally the same thing but atleast you can stay in the middle(if you get there)

Only thing placement I very much disagree with is woody woods it should have been top 7 maybe 6 personally. The others one I would make minor changes liking moving up or down one but can get behind the rest
Disagree on Goomba Lagoon, it's at least top 3 boards in Jamboree for me imo I think. Love PBC but it has gameplay flaws like how if you have enough coins, going past Bowser is ideal so you can get another star faster. I honestly though Western Land is fine but overrated.

thats what i was thinking too lol. i love the mall board but i was like...chance time is literally avaliable on any space and so are custom dice.
also i really dont feel like everyone has an item at all times...3 stores are locked behind an event space
I honestly hate Mario's Rainbow Castle. I love the way it looks, but there's only 2 branching paths and that's it. Plus, going back to the beginning after getting a star/ztar makes Mario's Rainbow Castle super linear. I would say it's worse than the Super Mario Party boards.
I really don't see why people like Rainbow Galleria so much. Its a decent board don't get me wrong, but it really suffers the most from the Jamboree economy and buddy mechanics imo. That and the bloated amounts of unskippable fluff animations really make the board play like a drag to me. They did nail the theme and the layout is really good too but it isn't the best imo.

Rainbow galleria works REALLY WELL with Pro Rules, because the game ends before you deal with the conflation.
I would love it a bit more if the 1 coin shop was something else though.
