    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    A true master. I talked with Ben on the phone today because I sent my knife in to him. (He sharpens your knife for free so you can see the edge the Edge Pro puts on it, details are on his site). He was incredibly helpful and gave stellar customer service throughout the whole process. I highly recommend him as a businessperson. He is obviously enthusiastic about what he does and I'm sure that makes him that much better at it.

    This system keeps your knife sharper longer. I was Very impressed. Edge pro has many diffrent models to choose from. This an american made product which most knifes arnt american made. The model he is show us is the basic model and its by far very easy to use even some one who dosn"t sharpen knives much. can easly use this product. Thanks Edge pro..

    Very tempting piece of kit! That first bit, it sounded like there was a lot of pressure on the blade. I thought you were only supposed to use light pressure while sharpening, or was the noise because of the coarseness of the stone?

    No, the "Wicked Edge" is not 'much better and less complicated'. The Wicked Edge is a modified Lansky type sharpener that uses a clamp to hold the knife. This has a number of faults. One, is that many knives will rock in the clamp causing the sharpening angle to change and not be consistent. Two, you have no where near the versatility of the Edge Pro when it comes to sizes and types of knives you can sharpen. The Edge Pro is a very simple system to use. Been there, done that, and have many sharpener brand T-Shirts. All of them are now hung up in the closet and retired after getting the Edge Pro. This is a fabulous sharpening system.

    what is the white plastic covering on the knife guide?

  • @c2thedub14
    @c2thedub14 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    when using a ceramic or diamond honer, you have to remember that they take metal off. thats why white ceramic steels get black on them. so when you put a knife to the stone at 18 degrees, then using a ceramic or diamond hone at 20 degrees, since 20 is a wider angle it takes that angle, and whats left of the 18 degrees becomes back bevel. and kitchen knives should be sharpened at 15 degrees.

    How many sessions do the wet stones typically last before wearing and needing replacing?
    So generally its 220 stone @ 18 degrees.. then 320, then 600 grit, and finally the ceramic rod (at anything above 18 degrees)?
    Is there any knife this won't work on? High carbon/low carbon?

    I had a lanky system, not the highest quality nor most accurate system in the world. I have a Edge pro on the way. I hope it is more "fool proof" Thanks for the videos. Are these the same ones that are on the disc that comes with it??

    What I can't figure out is... when using the blade table don't you want the edge of the knife as far off out towards you at all times? If you follow this method, the further down the blade you go, the further in the knife edge is, doesn't that change the angle?

    That's a much better system than the Lansky, which I've just got. Small knives, like the Leatherman, is really hard to sharpen on the Lansky system. By the looks of the Edge Pro it'll be easier on this.

  • @greenable81
    @greenable81 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My only concern with this system is having to hold the knife, I worry I would move it to much and mess the angle up, but never using one of these there's a high chance I could be wrong, I bought a cheap smiths system, it gets my knives sharp but not super happy with it I have to hold the system in my hand, there is no clamp to hold the system in place, I've looked at the wicked sharpener and honestly I would choose the edge pro.

    On the back strokes you let the stone in contact with the blade?

    you could go a little past 15 degrees which is a 32 degree bevel which is plenty good for a machete

    Is this system large enough to sharpen a machete? I have put a decent edge on my machete with a hand file but would like to take it to the next level.

  • @JasonCzelus
    @JasonCzelus 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Wicked Edge has twice as many moving parts. You have to set angles for both sides independently too. How is that less complicated?

  • @kennyd6738
    @kennyd6738 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes you could use this machine just keep moving the machete down

    • @MrGlockshna
      @MrGlockshna 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well you know he's a crackpot if he says a 600 grit is a "Very fine edge". 1000 grit stones are considered coarse for fine sharpening. It'll cut, but not like a razer lol. Go up to 3000 or higher if you want to call it sharp.

    You didn't understand a very basic thing:
    A bevel from 15 to 24 degrees on each side creates a cutting edge of 30 to 48 degrees.
    Of course a machete needs a bigger edge than a kitchen knife. But you sharpen both sides of the blade - or do you prefer chisel grind???

    No ... it's NOT a Lansky. It is much, much superior. A Lansky isn't in the same league and is very limited compared to the Edge Pro. Do some searches and educate yourself.
