  • In this episode we take a look at a very well built 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The owner is a good friend who is what I consider to be an expert on my favorite trail, Valley of the Moons in Jacuma, CA. He has done a lot of work to this Wrangler and is getting ready for a LS3 conversion which will bump his horse power up to 450... can't wait to see that!

    I have a 2012 Wrangler Sport Unlimited. It came new with a 4-inch combo lift and 35x12.50s on 20-inch Mayhem wheels mounted with Federal Couragia M/Ts. I'll be swapping these out for 35x12.50 BFG A/Ts on 17-inch Black Rinos this summer.

    MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!! Man that's ALL it takes and we'd all have GREAT rides. Guess some of us just have to just suck-it-up and be happy with our little JK 2-door Sports and piece-meal parts when we can. But these rigs sure are pretty to look at (and dream about).

    When I started looking for my first jeep, I wanted the blue. I missed a very clean nice one by a day. I do have a jeep now, not blue, but I still love it. Did your buddy ever get the LS3 engine put in his jeep. Seeing this video has a little age on it, I was just curious. Thanks again for sharing and have a blessed weekend.

      Interesting you should mention that. Joes Jeep had had a lot done to it since we filmed this video, to include adding a Ripp supercharger just last month..... he was having challenges finding someone who would install and LS and guarantee it would pass smog here in CA.

    would I be correct if I said that a suspension lift creates more ground clearance between the bottom of the ladder frame chassis of an SUV & the ground surface??? In turn aiding in increased break over angle!!! Meaning a suspension lift also raises the chassis frame as well since the suspension (hangs below the chassis frame) is attached at or marginally below the chassis level!!!

      Rlphsalazr1 you're definitely pushing it lol. Running 37s is kinda risky, if you had a rubicon you could upgrade axles and run 40s but even that's pushing it

    • @BruceLEEroy721
      @BruceLEEroy721 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Austin Eaker what about if I put a truss kit sleeve and gusset? I don't do too much off roasting just here and there eventually I would like to upgrade the axles

    • @austineaker5357
      @austineaker5357 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rlphsalazr1 if you did that with the axle shaft upgrade you should be able to run 37s but it all comes down to how much you offroad and how hard you go with it. might want to regear with it too

    • @calebgodwin3224
      @calebgodwin3224 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      how did the RIPP do? That will be the last thing I do after axles but its coming. I dont want to LS swap until I absolutely have to, that being said the first time I have to pull the 3.6 to do any work on it personally it probably wont go back in.

    • @joecaldwell2818
      @joecaldwell2818 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The SC is a good stop gap for street driving. It offers very little advantage on the trail. The V8 is where its at if you can afford it

      So how do you do an LS3 in Cali and keep it CARB legal? I thought there was a loophole if you stayed with the same manufacturer which would be a Hemi instead.

    • @joecaldwell2818
      @joecaldwell2818 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no loop holes for Hemi or Ls swap. Once the conversion is done you have to take it to a referee and you and your wallet are at his/her mercy

    Question I have flat fenders on my Jeep and inside the wheel is all exposed now because it’s thinner then the stock flairs. My question is it ok to leave it exposed like that or should I purchase the inner liner they sell for the flairs.

    • @TrailRecon
      @TrailRecon  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know folks that leave it exposed, but I just purchased new fenders and I will be installing the fender liners to have the added protection.

    • @MitsubishiEvo10mr
      @MitsubishiEvo10mr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TrailRecon thanks like I know it will prob get muddy in there that’s fine but like as long as it doesn’t start rusting out of some gets into the motor. I may purchase it soon any way just to be on safe side

      Mine has been exposed for 2 years no issues. I see a lot of people having rubbing issues with after market inner liners

    What axles you have under there?

    • @joecaldwell2818
      @joecaldwell2818 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the front axle is a stock rubi axle that has been sleeved, trussed and gusseted. the axle shafts are stock. I would not run 37s with out the for mentioned mods.

    • @dtfcpdx
