I just want to say that after watching several TH-cam videos on how to play sushi-go I was confused and annoyed. I have two daughters one 11 and the other 9 and they got the game for Christmas. I had to teach them this new game. Then I found your tutorial and it finally made sense. Thank you so much - we played for three hours and had so much fun - Your tutorial was the most helpful of all of them - I think your approach made the most sense thanks

Thank you so much for the tutorial, I’ve always been more of a hands on/visual learner and sometimes just reading the rules doesn’t make sense, I watched the other video as well and I wouldn’t have known how to use the reminders on the bottom of the cards correctly. The game doesn’t really flat out explain how to read them.

Thanks for the Tutorial. Dont get chop sticks because if you play them in the end every player has different number of cards on his hand. How are you supposed to finish a round then?

Great question and sorry for the late reply. Hopefully this will help someone else someday. When you play chopsticks down, that works just like a normal play. then, when you use them later on to play two cards, you put the chopsticks back in that hand before passing it on. So it still ends up with just one fewer card than before and should be the same size as the other hands.
For example, if you use chopsticks near the end of a round when there are just two cards left in each hand, you would play the last two useful cards from your hand and put just the chopsticks back in, then pass that hand of 1 card (just the chopsticks) to the next player. Then they'd have to play the chopsticks as their last card and just get nothing useful from them. Hope that helps explain it better!

What happens when one of the player player shop sticks. One of us always end up with no cards??

When you use the chopsticks to play double, put the chopsticks back into that hand so it only loses 1 card overall.

But I think that doesn't make sense that way either. One of the hands will never change, so they know very approximately what will come in the next turn. I'm trying to explain: it's the first turn, player 1 controls the Dummy. He plays both cards and player 2 plays his. Then player 1 switches cards with player 2 and changes control of the Dummy. When they switch again, player 1 knows the cards that player 2 is going to give him.

I'm going to explain how I play with 2 players. Turn 1, deal 9 cards to player 1 and player 2 and play. They swap the cards. Turn 2: before playing, both take a card from the available deck and discard one (it can be the new one or another one from the hand). If it is a Maki or Pudding card, it faces up for the Dummy to count points at the end of the round or game. They change cards again and turn 3 begins and they do the same. Like this until the end.
This way it is more interesting since the players will not know all the cards when they return and it also influences the Maki and Pudding cards that we put in the Dummy to bother the opponent.
I would also find your opinion interesting. Greetings

Ooh that version sounds really good! I agree this idea makes for more decision making and more opportunities to really surprise your opponent. In this case, I was teaching the official 2-player rules but I haven't actually played this game with only 2 players a ton of times (I usually play most games in larger groups). So your version might be better. I have a lot of playtesting background so in general I emphatically support tweaking and making up rules to experiment and improve your gaming experience.
One worry I have is that this might make the dummy just win maki and puddings most of the time and the players just fight for second place. Do you find that happens often?

@@GamePointTabletop Thank you very much for your answer.
In this way, players have to think better about their strategy if they want to score with makis and if they do not want to subtract 6 points at the end of the game for Pudding.

Can the dummy player win the game?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    • @samjackson3454

It's possible, but not very likely since their cards aren't really played with a coherent strategy. I guess you could try to make the dummy player win if you think it's too late for you to win and just want to make sure your opponent doesn't win!

if we play 2 players, do we have to include a dummy?

    • @GamePointTabletop
      @GamePointTabletop  ปีที่แล้ว

You don't have to. You can just use the normal rules with 2 players. The only necessary change is that you don't give -6 points to the player with least puddings. But adding the dummy player makes 2-player games more interesting.
