    The trading and gifting of patches is a powerful thing. Something that brings me great comfort deployed is knowing that if something bad happens, someone will come and get me and bring me home, alive or not.

    This was three months after my brother, master sergeant Michael McNulty, was killed in combat in Iraq. He was part of Delta detachment, and had been for a while. He was killed on June 17, 2005, with another member of Delta detachment named Bob Hagen.

      They haven't gotten as much public notoriety in the past few decades as SEALs. IMO this is intentional in an effort to maintain themselves as the quiet professionals. They previously went through dealing with many of the same things as SEALs are now such as getting public notoriety & serious issues within their units. They overcame these hurdles & improved. We need to talk about SOAR. The Night Stalkers always seem to be doing the flying for all the western special forces of many nations. Yet we kinda just mention them and move on. I like to hear more information about them, as they tend to be more secretive like delta force themselves.

We were relieving a unit out of Fort Campbell KY. We landed in Baghdad and flew out on Blackhawks to FOB St. Michael total blackout. No white light even after hitting the ground. It was such an adrenaline rush. Place has the reputation of being “The Sunni Triangle of Death”. Well earned from my understanding. It would be interesting to find out why Ahmed was there. Was he an Iraqi Christian? A Sunni captured by the Shia or vise versa? Or possibly a plant by the kidnappers?

      Debatable, there are some seriously good SF regiments in other nations too with comparable successes such as this one. The Western special forces are the best in the world, but individually they all are better at some things that others are not. The debate of who is the best has continued for decades with the annual warrior games held and other competitions held where first place often shifts between nations each year.

    Whats mad is look at the kit the guys had - its worse than what most infantry have now and this was only 15 years ago. Mad that they used to operate like that.

    Iraq is hardcore. The smile on Roy's face shows you how crappy that cell was that the animals kept him in. Delta was smart and moved the freezer clearly outside thinkers of the 3d sphere we all live in. God bless the feds.

    I would hope that the soldiers leveled that house with the owners in it later. It appears to me that Delta is superior to the navy Seals in effectiveness. Since I'm neither, I can only speculate.

    • @mlb5525
      @mlb5525 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems that the Seals are the headline seekers, who love to have the prime time soap operas about their lives and movies about their operations. While Delta lives in the shadows. This is how it should be for special forces. The less the enemy knows about how you operate the better it is for your survival.
