    Not gonna lie that is a good thick base love to see it me being a concrete guy personally dont like pavers rather stamp concrete but reason is they always fail sinking or something but you sir with that base i doubt that will ever be a problem for a long time good job love to see workers take pride and pay attention to detail especially the base.

    I live in CT and plan on DIY paver walk way using your method. I know every job is different and you've mention some of this stuff through out your videos, but I would love to see a "Blue Print" video with specific details all in one place. Like, how wide the walkway will be vs how wide you excavate, how deep you excavate, the stone sizes and how thick the layers are.

    Are yall located in the us if so where? Up here in idaho i use 8" of 3/4 roadbase and 1/2 - 1/4" cpile for my paver installs because of freeze thaw cycles. Essentially turns the base into concrete. Just wondering if you have heavy freeze and have found your method to be better over time or just a different environment.

      We are located in Massachusetts, lots of freeze / thaw cycles through the winter here too. This clean stone base method allows water to travel through much better and prevents heaving / shifting more than the traditional gravel / sand base. • @vivendo-nos-USA
    @vivendo-nos-USA ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very good job.... if you don't understand how walkways are supposed to be built.
    1- you don't set pavers over crushed stone. They will sink, and wiggle after a few weeks.
    2- you will lose the product warranty, if you don't install according to manufacturer's instructions, and crushed stone is not what they're instructions say.
    3- look at the end of the video and see that the border is off square, by a lot.
    4- you don't use wet sent for joints, you are supposed to use polymeric sand.
    5- after setting the pavers, you're supposed to vibrate them before finishing the joints.
    There's more that need to be done, but I won't list everything here. My point is that, there is a right way to build things, and this is not it. It will be sinking and off level within 60 days. Especially if rains.

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL, I love getting comments like this because it exposes how little people know about proper base prep methods for pavers.... Not to mention it is always funny how people like you say outlandish things like it will fail in a few weeks.... This walkway was installed 3 years ago now and is in excellent shape. So that is to address your 1st point.
      Your 2nd point is completely wrong as well because the majority of well known paver manufacturers have been recommending this base prep method for over 4 years now. Those manufacturers include but are not limited too (Techo Bloc) (Uni-lock) & (Nicolock). If you do not believe me, here is a link to a video made by (Uni-Lock) 4 years ago pushing this exact base prep method 👉th-cam.com/video/XPj5TgRvgIc/w-d-xo.html
      They especially recommend it for freeze / thaw environments like here in Massachusetts. It allows water to drain freely into the subsoil and prevents the pavers from heaving in the winter. I used the traditional dense grade / sand base prep method for 5 years before switching to this method a little over 4 years ago now. I have close to 120 installs with this method with no issues, That's why I think it's hilarious when people like you comment silly things like this with absolutely no proof or logic behind the accusation.
      To address your 3rd point, the border is perfectly square. Not sure what you are looking at....
      To address your 4th point, I guess you don't know about all the new polymeric sand options out there now.... This sand is called (Easy Joint) and is designed to be installed with water.... It is not like regular polymeric sand.
      And finally, we compacted the pavers before using the Easy Joint because when you use that product, you do not need to compact the pavers to settle the sand down, using water when installing it settles the sand down on its own. You ever hear of the saying that water is the best compacter?
      And again, this has been in for 3 years now with a lot of rain storms.... N no issues. I know some people can't help but comment negative things, especially when they don't know anything about it, but I suggest you check out that (Uni-Lock) video that I mentioned and do some more research on what's new in the Hardscaping trade. That's the problem with this trade, people learned a certain way of doing things and never change or adapt as time goes on. You have to be able to learn new tricks.... You would be amazed at how many professional hardscape companies use this method. The traditional way of laying pavers with heavily packed dense grade and sand / stone dust will be obsolete in 5-10 years. This method is far greater.
      Here is another video I made explaining my base prep method in much more detail 👉th-cam.com/video/ChaJe3JqD6I/w-d-xo.html
      And here is a link to the a playlist of how I installed this walkway in the video you are commenting on 👉th-cam.com/play/PLo6xdtKoDxWY5cOvcI9vTAVIkFWqjErHE.html

    • @TheChristianHardscaper
      @TheChristianHardscaper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may save time, but it is not as precise. Laying the border out lets you really see what it will look like, using pvc doesn't. I like to make sure it is exactly how I want it before I cut it. Even when I lay out the border I have to shift it and move it a few times before I am happy with it, with the pvc, you just can't tell precisely what it will look like when the pavers are in. ✌

      Those border pavers have rounded edges to have a natural stone look. When you cut them straight to fit tight, it takes away that natural joint line look. I am fine with joints that size. A lot of people cut their border to fit tight, then what happens is you take the natural bevel of the pavers off. Seeing pavers cut along the edge is a worse look in my opinion.

      @@nicklasmarciszewski6222 That's what most do, but they and you are missing a very important part. By spreading a thin layer of stone on top of the native subsoil (1-2 inches) and compacting it into the soil, You open the soil up more to accept water and it stiffens the soil to help prevent sinking. If you don't do that, there may be soft spots in the sub soil that will turn into sink holes down the road, Then you putting fabric down was just a waste. You have to create a firm sub base before you lay the fabric and backfill the rest of the way.

      Highway construction is not even comparable with pavers... And I don't know where you are from but highways fail left and right, holes and sinking occur constantly. Frost heaves form and crack asphalt apart constantly. That happens because the water seeps into the dense grade and does not drain, causing it to expand when it freezes and heaves the asphalt. Which causes failure. It literally happens everywhere. I think roads in America fail all the time because of that very reason. Come travel through Massachusetts and tell me the gravel base under roads holds up for long periods of time. They don't. You can keep using the traditional method, and I'll keep using this method. 4 years of successful and quality installs with no issues or call backs. The proof is in the pudding. Not sure how you did you permeable base that failed but I assume something was not done properly....
