He made Deep Purple...... there were singers, guitarists, bassists and keyboards in all the other bands,- but Ian Paice was the only drummer, who took jazz, swing and blues to the rock scene of that area..... Ian was taking Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich to rock....... and everyone else is just following him. Ian Paice is my hero......
I am a drummer and drumming instructor. In my opinion, Ian Paice plays with such an appealing swing and bounce. Like Bonham, he was initially inspired by the jazz and swing drummers and then applied it to his hard rock playing. He plays with such a clean, crisp precision. His single and double stroke rolls are such a joy for me to hear! Even someone who knows absolutely nothing about Deep Purple has to hear and sense his remarkable technique. Anyway, like the sun, water, air, soil, and minerals, Ian's drumming is a "natural resource!"
Ian Paice has always been my favorite drummer since I was old enough to listen to music. I have had the honor of meeting him on three occasions, he is the coolest, nicest, down to earth guy you could ever meet. Little Ian is the man.
I've always loved older musician's that have the will and discipline to keep their chops together... Ian is not only as good as he used to be... he's got even better!
Deep Purple was my first ever concert at Eagles Auditorium in Seattle WA back in the 60s during the Hush, Kentucky Woman days. Got to see the original band and a very lean no shirt and a big huge Afro Ian Paice on a beautiful silver sparkle set. You're right. He was great back then and even better now.

I was almost afraid to watch. Fearing that maybe the advancing years might have caused Mr. Paice to lose a step somehow. I think he may actually be smoother now. All the best to my all time favourite musician. Godspeed, sir.
Greatest living rock drummer. Also one thing to emulate his parts but think back to the thought process of Burn who else would have come up with such a unique drum part? I also really like the mini solo in Space Truckin’. There is a geezer on YT who performs a very good cover of it mini solo and all.
I tend to agree on that, my theory is that as the world was made for right handed people mostly, the left handed must develop a great rigth hand control on everything(doors, cars,etc) since the very begginning, so having a great balance between both.

I really can't understand why Paice drums sound on Purple records from Bananas included on isn't never that good...If someone could take out these sounds from his kit, why worldwide famous producers cannot?

It's funny how left-handed people seem to excel. Of the 'moderns', Ian's one of the best.
