Neos Air is actually owned by Italian tour operator Alpitour. They mostly fly to destinations where they have their own resorts or have deals with others. In fact most of their destinations are once weekly as they sell complete packages (flight+hotel) for one/two weeks.
I'm mostly impressed they serve food in real plates, with real cutlery and that they have a good and free IFE. Good job on them.

I have an answer to the meals. Yes they are made prior and fly the route down to then be served on the return. But a lot of the time they will load the galley carts into cargo containers with dry ice to keep it cool.

Neos is not a Unknow airlines, is the airlines of Alpitour the biggest holiday group in Italy he mainly operates charter flight to the maldives, sharm el sheik, Zanzibar and the caribbean sea, bringing tourist to the resorts of the alpitour group, also operates some scheduled flight between Palermo and NYC and between Milano and NYC

Neos Air is for sure an excellent carrier but out of Italy is pretty unknown, impossible to be compared to the main european travel groups airlines. Italy does't have a true national airline anymore but its small companies, Neos Air and Air Dolomiti are top notch from any point of view

Fun fact: Neos’ livery is very similar to the TUI one because, from its foundation in 2002 until 2005, Neos was fully owned by the TUI Group. It later became independent. On the internet you can find some images of the airline’s Boeing 737s with the TUI logo on the tail and the typical font of the livery

I landed in Nose-be one month ago on my journey to Mauricius from Milan (Neos has a weekly route Milan-nose be-Mauricius, serving 2 Alpitour’s destinations with a single plane): we stay 2 hours until the takeoff for Mauritius: there was our 787 and…. A Cessna! No other planes…! I heard one of the pilots talks to a passenger-friend that the nose bee runway is quite short for the wide-bodies jet…
I’d like to visit Madagascar, in the future…

6:43 Notice how the fire engines (possibly for the whole island, not just the airport) are standing by on the tarmac in case there is an emergency during takeoff. This is reminiscent of the situation in some remote Pacific islands where United Airlines operates and which Simply Aviation covered before :)

Lemme answer some of the question you have about operating such a flight outta such a remote location. Everything that isn’t perishable or refillable, will be double stocked on board. Meals are prepared from the main hub and crews are instructed to keep them untouched and frozen until it’s time to have them reheated on the return leg. Although this is only if the plane is going back directly after arriving. Milk products are usually replenished on sight, as are toiletries and other sanitary products. Everything else required for service is double catered. I’m a flight attendant and my full service legacy carrier does this for most of its overseas flights.

Catering is a funny one. Location plays a big factor in catering. Many long-haul carriers will land and get fresh catering (meals, top-up on drinks/new bars) on turnaround away from the base. Sometimes airlines will stock extra drinks and snacks, which means only meals and trays are required down route. This often differs from airport to airport, not even country to country. If the airport is smaller and doesn't have catering facilities, they will have it driven over from a nearby major airport with catering facilities. Finally, some routes (and probably likely in this case) food is loaded in the hold in chillers. The aircraft will have extra drink trolleys to allow for top-ups usually sorted by the outbound crew. Once the aircraft has landed, the food is taken from the hold and placed into the ovens on the aircraft. The trolleys with trays are then swapped for the used trolleys and placed into the hold. I've seen this happen in Liberia on TUI flights and in the Bahamas. Sometimes the food has been known to spoil which has led to flight cancellations, and airport vouchers issued for snacks.

@@cocazade7703 Nearly all Italian airplanes are Irish registered, as for ITA (and Alitalia), and most of Italian carriers (with Air Dolomiti as the notable exception). It has to do with a question of insurance and leased plates. Now it seems like some Italian airlines have started registering their planes in Malta (e.g. AeroItalia).

I hate that flight attendants can "lock" the window dimming. Especially because on a daylight flight like this it is NOT good to sleep, as sleeping can upset your biological and circadian rhythm.
They probably do this because they don't want to be bothered during the flight, but it's not good for the passengers !

Just watching those passengers walking out to the aircraft with their cases terrifies the bejesus out of me.
WHO in their right mind thought that the size of these cases was an appropriate size to be loaded into overhead lockers?
I have not flown in a passenger aircraft for some considerable time and watching these passengers with their, in my view, oversized cases boarding the aircraft will ensure that I will not be flying anywhere any time soon.
Having seen photographs from inside the recent Singapore airlines from London Heathrow it makes me deeply concerned about the safety on board aircraft should they encounter heavy turbulence when cases such as those seen here are placed in the overhead lockers.
