A bit of this so-oft-pointed-out wobble aside, i'm hard pressed to find a tenor with a similarly exciting and dramatic voice in this day and age. I loved his Hermann in the Marinsky Theatre Pique Dame recording.

Huge dramatic voice, but past its prime and a bit wobbly, and he sounds like he's bellowing. His 1998 version from Madrid is great though, almost in the Corelli class. But it's hard to listen to anyone else sing this after hearing Franco Corelli.

@@Monnarchmonnarchy its easy to judge singers who sing in big stages...i have heard him live in Berlin...he is fantastic in his 60s....please instead of staying outside and judge ,show up if you have a voice
@@enzodanni6131 what show? I must!? I realy love to sing, but there are a lot of bastards like him in theatres, that take place and you can't sing because of this diletants! I don't believe, that he sings good at his ages, now he is worse, than anybody!!! No technic, no control, ugly voice! Horror!

I was thinking he's actually a baritone but then picked tenor arias having some sort of ease with the top notes Also, I know he had a lot of jobs as a tenor so there's no way he's not a tenor. But then I guess he should have covered his F's a lot more and maybe the wobble wouldn't have been there
You don't need to be a chef to know that someone serves you rotten food, just as you don't need to be an opera singer to know that someone is singing badly.
