😎This is an older video, but it still works today. The only thing you need to do differently is to set the Nvidia DLSS on automatic instead of TAA
This is a Guide on How to fix lag in Cities Skylines 2 and improve Performance and Visuals.
In this video, I tackle the optimization challenges of Cities Skylines 2. While many players have experienced frustrating performance issues, I'll show you how to tweak your settings for a smoother and more visually appealing gaming experience.
Despite its issues, Cities Skylines 2 remains a fantastic city-building game, and with the right adjustments, you can enjoy it with decent FPS while retaining or even enhancing your visual quality.
Whether you have a high-end machine like mine or a lower-end PC, these settings adjustments will undoubtedly improve your gameplay. I'll also introduce you to a 100k city for testing your performance, courtesy of this German gaming magazine:

I also provide a side-by-side comparison with Cities Skylines 1 on the same machine to showcase the improvement.
In a modded 25k city, Cities Skylines 1 achieved only about 24 FPS, highlighting the significant progress in Cities Skylines 2.
With these settings in place, you'll enjoy a vastly improved experience in Cities Skylines 2.

What would you recommend as an alternative for folks without the option to use Nvidia DLSS, such as Dynamic Resolution Scale Quality or Anti-aliasing Quality?

Thank you this really helped. I have a 4080 and was getting somewhere around 30-40 fps on 4k 144hz but now on the same 4k 144hz res i am getting 60-70 fps with these settings.

Hey man good guide. I have actually a little less fps than i did having the settings from another guide but the visuals are waaaay better without the resolution scaling, so I'm satisfied.
6900xt at 1440p abt 23fps. I know this doesnt seem good but I already got used to super low fps so I'm not even bothered lmao. The visual uplift more than makes up for the low fps here for me.

Thank u i really needs since my small city as grown into a massive urban center with 3 main areas, 2 ports, 2 major industrials hubs, a vacation hill area with campsites and the golden gate bridge coz why not😂😂, all connected by rail, metro, buses and trams and population of 210K +
This all really slows down my laptop (i7-12700h and rtx 3060 105W)

So you wanna tell me, contrary to all the news out there, CS:II runs better with the right tweaks than CS? Am I able to even play this with a 1050Ti & Ryzen 2600, than mod the old game?

As the video says, my test is on a 4070, and I personally get a way better performance on modded CS2 than on modded CS1 😎

Btw... would you make a tutorial regarding roads? I pretty much get a headache with roads each time I want to make curly symmetrical roads for highways and that stuff.

I am currently working on a project that involves some “less known” road building techniques.

Great! @@Mike_Builds I passed the pro tip regarding performance because your videos are great; you're worthy of my knowledge. Let me know when you have tried the settings I passed you, make a video, then I will delete my suggestion :)
