Wrote my final check to pay off my van yesterday! We are now down to the house and are head strong on continuing the process to be debt free - completely. The feeling of not having any debt other than the house is awesome!!! We now have an opportunity to save money for our special needs child to make sure the future is promising for our family.
My goal is to pay off my home within the next 2.5 years. Once I accomplish that I will be completely DEBT-FREE. Great video! It definitely has motivated me to work hard towards my goal!
I am watching this on the way to work, crying. Last night I took class One of FPU, realizing that Dave signed bankruptcy this month in 1988. I turned 18, 20 years ago this month ( I just turned 38). I have been in debt for 20 years. Thinking it was normal at times, thinking it was hopeless other times, and even ignoring it sometimes. I feel like just making the decision to STOP and be done with debt has lifted a huge weight off my Shoulders. I feel free to CHOOSE. Choose a debt free life. I thank you and your family. From the bottom of my Heart.
Are you worried over your huge debt just like I was few weeks back, if so do let your mind be at peace now, Do you know you can make up to $8,000 or more weekly if you have a credit card or you have a bank account? spacehacker brought my hope back and now am living debt free and am making free money every week through him. if you wanna be debt free just like I am now then you can contact him on SPACEHACKER098 AT GMAIL COM or text him directly via +1 408.....560.....2297 Be rest assured he wont request money from you.
THAT PIZZA is debt IF you paid it with a credit card! Imagine all the college kids who do or did this! Trust me, I WAS (past tense) one of them! Learned my lesson since!
So inspiring!! I’m 27 now and my husband and I are saving money to pay for our house in full with cash when we build in the next 4 years! It’s like she said it seems like a lifetime away but it’s so worth it in the end. We just got rid of our non house debt this year 🎉🎉
My private student loan, Navient is the bane of my existence. We put an extra $2400/ month towards it, and it will be paid off in February!! I just paid off another student loan last month. We will be completely DEBT FREE by the end of 2020! We took Dave's FPU class several years ago, and it totally changed the way we manage our money. We've paid off almost $100,000 of student loan and credit card debt so far, and we're not slowing down!
I just watched/listened to this while I did dishes, laundry, and cleaned up the house while my kids are napping... I cried during the debt free screams and am so reinvigorated on our debt free journey. Just like any major goal, it’s great to have things to keep you motivated and inspired towards your goal. Thanks Rachel! ❤️
Rachel we dine at a local restaurant. The waitstaff is mostly college kids "out of debt with ONLY college loans." I carry Dave with me all the time. Well, his envelopes. Inside the envelope I put info on Dave's financial peace class. I buy 2-3 envelope refills and separate them. That's how I get the conversation with the younger generation. I tell them Money Makeover book is at the library or they can read along with your Dad as his book is on you tube. I gave your book away a long time ago.
The one debt I hate the most is my $135k in student loans. I thought that getting a BS degree in Accounting and an MS degree in Accounting would allow me to move up in my career but they have not. They have been useless! So paying for something that costs this much and has not been useful makes me angry!!
That's so unusual. Usually people think of degrees in accounting as one of the more useful degree programs out there, if you are considering a college education to be a form of job training, as most people do. I'm sorry the degrees were not of use to you! Best of luck in gettingr rid of the debt!
Car leases - people don't think of them as debt, but they are. I am one of the few who wandered out of debt. I had a car, which I made regular payments on and a line of credit with a limit of $2K. But the idea of another car loan scared me. Glad I read the Total Money Makeover. I was already debt free when I read it, but I am now on baby step 4 after only a year! Saved to buy a car in cash, too!
Our credit card has a crazy high interest rate, and I didn't know my husband was using it for our groceries while he was unemployed. I took Rachel's advice and we're planning to have a weekly money meeting so that doesn't happen again.
I em debt free... and everyone hates me because I don't work and I have more spending money then all the people I know....... And they don't listen to me... I love this program because I'm always looking for new ideas.. And yes my net worth is at a million dollars but I'm classified as being in poverty Great video
Absolutely love the debt snowball method! Great video Rachel and such excellent advice. I know a lot of people prefer the avalanche method because it saves the most in interest but it is so motivating when you see those smaller debts drop off your list fast. Finding that motivation to keep saving and budgeting is all you need to keep paying off debt so find that and you'll be successful. For me, it was debt on a new car that woke me up to the burden and how I never wanted to be in debt again. Here was something that lost half its value the second I drove it off the lot and just kept costing me money every month.
Me too! I am excited about the fact that in the past 5 weeks or so, I've paid off about $2000 of debt as well as pulled together my $1000 emergency fund without having to sell anything! I'm about to move on to the 4th and strongly disliked debt in Baby Step #2 - Miss Sallie Mae! I owe her just over $6000! After that, she'll be evicted for good. I think I should be able to do this hopefully by Thanksgiving. My income varies a bit though, so if I can't get rid of Sallie by then, Christmastime will also be acceptable! After that, I will have the motivation and encouragement I need to pay off my absolutely most dreaded debts of all- collections. I owe about $6,000 there. I'm NOT looking forward to dealing with and settling on these debts. I have created miscellaneous, medical, and car maintenance sinking funds (in addition to emergency) to give me a buffer against life and prevent the need to borrow in the future. I will probably eventually need to create a sinking fund for clothing as well, especially as I continue to budget and save once out of debt.

I used to be scared of Dave until I stumbled upon Rachel’s channel; now I’m addicted and understand Dave more. My only thing is I don’t think I’ll ever be onboard with the buying a used car thing everyone touts. Other than a house, what doesn’t lose value after you buy it? And I’m not into buying other people’s problems, meaning I’ve seen the nasty things people do in and to their cars. My sister and nieces bought used cars and their cars are always in the shop. I bought a new Lexus and paid it off and plan to keep it for a very long time because Lexus/Toyota and Honda/Acuras will run forever! I may’ve contradicted myself there. And I have a better understanding of this concept, so maybeee I’d consider it in the future. But I saved for years to get my dream car, and while I financed what I didn’t have to put down, it felt good to have something I never thought I’d have and motivated me. 😬
When you talk about it being mentioned in scripture that really hits home for me. Thanks for this discussion this is lighting a FIRE right now for me to get rid of all debt as FAST AS POSSIBLE. You are wonderful Rachel.
Since some people are very literal....utilities (lights, water) is not debt. You owe the light company. But if you put the light bill on a credit card then you have debt.
We have 7 children and at kid #5 we had to expand our 2 bedroom bungalow. We added another storey to our house (4 more bedrooms and an extra bath. It cost about $25,000 because my husband did all the work himself. We still have $16,000 left to pay, but we are doing the debt snowball and attacking it as creatively as we can! 😁 We hope to have it paid off this year!

I leased my cat! I’ve always been “adopt don’t shop,” but when I saw her-I know this sounds weird-but I felt called to get her even though she was $2000. They had a finance plan for pets at the pet store, so in the end she was more like $4000! BUT, I don’t regret it ONLY BECAUSE she turned out to be really sick and needing a $15,000 surgery-which again, put me back BUT, she had a condition I have and I think that’s why I felt this weird calling to get her. I recognized the symptoms I don’t think anyone else would have. She would have died. Today she is happy and healthy…and I’m just hoping that while it feels like no good deed goes unpunished that someday God will reveal his reason because I got so much flack for getting her when I didn’t have the funds. But 1) If they offer financing for a pet, you’re being taken. 2) I discovered that store got closed for being a puppy mill-so many people bought pets that died! 3) Don’t judge me; I am on board with staying out of debt, but I can’t lie, I don’t regret pulling all the money out of my IRA to save my baby. But now back to always adopt, spay, and neuter, etc etc, lol!
Car loan. Daily interest of $6.00. My car cost $750 a month to operate each month. S400 car note. $170 for insurance. $180 a month in gas. This is why i live at home still.... Throw $1000 in rent thats 1750 then food puts me over 2000. Not too many jobs paying more than 500 a week after deductions... Im not moving out til my car is payed off. And i will never finance another vehicle
Student loans are the debt I hate the most. I was making minimum payments in the beginning and they barely paid interest. I didn't even want to log in to my account because I couldn't see any progress. Now I'm paying extra and actually seeing the balance go down every month 🙌 I hope to be debt free a year from now, can't wait!! 🤗
Rachel, Thanks for sharing this very important topic with us and also those couple that share their stories to paid their house off. This type of video's keep me on my toes to stay focus and stay away from dedt. I don't have a house yet, but I'm taking notes.🤗
I've been working on this for a while. To be honest it's more about changing my habits of how I spend money. My vehicle is paid for, paid off my credit cards and just use cash. I owe a small amount on my mortgage. It's hard to use just cash. It definitely makes you think twice about buying stuff. 😁😁👍👍
STUDENT LOANS ARE THE WORST!!! I don't want my kids to struggle with them the way I did so I want to get out of debt and build wealth do I can be in a position to help them... (And encourage them to alternative methods like work-study programs, vocational/technical schools, and community college and other low cost options!) I would have never pulled out loans if I could go back!

The debt I hate the most is my friends debt. I cant do anything about there debt except encourage them. My friend in debt works multiple jobs and is working the Dave Ramsey plan! She is still living paycheck to paycheck but working on improving and growing. I believe that personal relationships are more important to building wealth then just working as hard as you can. If you have relationships with rich people you can get rich by multiple ways for one they are the smartest investors so you can put your money to work, two they can gift you money, three they can help you earn more in less time, four they can lower your cost of living. I positive relationship with money also helps you win with money.

My student loan eats away at me , 18,000.00 I owe still. I have just been diagnosed with a medical condition and can no longer work. I just qualified for SSDI and I'm only 43. I was working on the debt snowball before this happened. I really need financial counseling on what to do if you could give me some advice Rachel 😊 love your Dads and your shows and books. God bless you guys😊

Agree with everything except for the credit card. I personally put everything on my rewards credit card and at the end of the month pay the entire statement off. By doing this I have zero interest payment and use the rewards to redeem on the next statement. Chase must hate me because I make money off of them. The trick is to never buy more than you can pay off at the end of the month or it will be a loss.
I hate all my debt! I really hate my student debt! Especially since it seems that I have to go into more until I get done with my education. Nothing erks me more than that! I want to just pay off my $8,000 something off before going back but I need a boost in income so education is the only way. It's really frustrating because I'm getting so low on all my other debts and I know I am going to pay them off, but that student debt is a stickler!
Student loans is that one debt that I strongly hate the most. Mainly because I had a high variable interest rate. I strongly recommend refinancing at a fixed interest rate.

My credit card debt makes me so mad! I started out on a great path. I had a credit card in order to gain credit, and it worked out well for a couple years. Then I spent one summer having tons of fun with my boyfriend, and now I'm in $10,000 in debt. I probably spent $3000 that summer, but it has just gotten so much bigger since then. I am so far away from being debt free. I have student loan debt that really sucks but I'm less mad about that because I don't think I could've done it without loans. The credit card debt is inexcusable though. :(
I love Rachel. Her book was amazing, especially if you have teenagers. One area that I wish she would cover is how to come up with additional funds (if you can't get a second job) to help you get out of debt or to come up with your initial $1,000 emergency fund. I have a video on my channel called "How to get out of debt: 5 Tips to Lower Your Monthly Expenses." I hope you guys find it helpful.

Hi Rachel. I love your shows, thank you. Are you going to bringing anything to the UK soon? I am using a budgeting app, which is ok, but nothing compared to the app you recommend. I have your Dads book, Total Money Makeover, which is really interesting too. Best wishes, Nikola x
I've been watching budget and debt free related videos for several months. In Dec. 2018, I decided to give myself until the end of March '19 to pay off a $1,000 line of credit loan. I made the last pmt. on Fri., Mar.1st! 🙂 Important note: I work part time retail, so my bi-weekly paycheck amounts fluctuate. I told a friend that I plan to close the loan, and she said that will make my credit score go down. I'm confused on that part, but it will be a good thing for me to not have that temptation. Please advise. Thanks for your ministry.

I hate my credit card debt! If I didn’t have those payments each month, I’d have at least an extra $500-700 in the bank EACH month. I also hate my student loan debt because even though the interest rate is “low,” because I was too lazy to apply for scholarships I now owe over $80k for an MFA in FILM! How do you apply for a job in film? I wish I’d taken my dad’s advice: study something that makes money. I incorporate what I learned in my work, but having what equates to some people’s mortgage hanging over my head makes me so mad at myself. It was my choice, but like you’ve said, everyone acted like it was normal. I’m ready to be a born-again saver/money maker!
How can we be out of debt when we always owe land taxes which equals more or the same as payment for one month rent a year? Light bills that's running almost as much as a monthly mortgage, home and car insurance, yadda yadda, very frustrating. I felt the need to vent lol. Love u Rachel!😊😊
THANK YOU TAHNK YOU THANK YOU!!! So glad I stumbbled upon your channel and I definitely watched it until the very end and cried. I can definitely relate as I am in DEBT! I am making payments on all my debt; school loan, credit car, car note, etc. My car insurance just went up and now I am definitely living pay check to pay check and have a dilemma. Should I just voluntarily surrender my car? Will this have a huge impact on my credit? I'm expected to pay off my car note by 10/2020. I am in the process of transitioning my career and not sure what to do. I am honestly over being in debt and want to purchase my home next year June-just not sure if surrendering my car will affect me terribly long term. I live in NY and have access to public transportation so thats why I am just so adamant in surrendering. I have attempted to sell the car however the offer is 3k less than the balance owed to the bank. I have interviewed and applied for part time gigs to try and get rid of most of my debt but the offer was not worth me sacrificing my weekends. I am trying to work smarter and that is why I am making a transition in my career so that way I can increase my income. Rachel any advice? #beautyrunswild
I have a question, I’m almost done with babystep 1 and I’m getting excited, but I was thinking, when getting into the debtsnowball, if an emergency like doctor or something comes up, would you pay the minimum with the emergency fund and add the rest to the snowball or pay the full thing and stop the snowball and build the emergency fund back? This is totally hypothetical, but I’m curious as a just in caser.
Princess Perfection You would use what you needed from the emergency fund to cover the bill. If it wasn’t enough you would pause your snowball, cash flow the rest of the bill, rebuild your step 1 emergency fund and then start on your snowball again:)

I felt as though I got sucker-punched into student loan debt. I didn't have a financial plan and banked on the fact that I had to have a college degree to have a 'good' job. God's Word is true when it says the people perish for a lack of knowledge. If you have a plan mapped out prior to pursuing college, you don't have to put yourself into a financial choke hold.

If you add up what you pay for the new car it is probably Far more than the people you know are paying for repairs though
Love the debt snowball method. I felt so relieved when I paid of the credit cards but ready to keep plowing through to get rid of the student loans.
Hello from Ireland where debt is pretty prevalent here too. Love your videos!! You are truly your fathers daughter ...

Thank you Rachel!! I hate my school loans 😡 I can’t wait to be debt FREE! Xoxo 🙏🏼🌅 Staying Hopeful
On my way out! Thank you...saving money living on my social security...wow in control again...!!!
I hate our last debt in BS2, our car loan! We will be debt free (except our mortgage) in November! Thanks, Rachel and Dave.
Hey that's us!! Thanks for featuring our BIG milestone Rachel! Woo hoooo!!!
I’m trying to budget. Is there a chat that someone can walk me through it?
STUDENT LOANS ARE THE WORST!!! I don't want my kids to struggle with them the way I did so I want to get out of debt and build wealth do I can be in a position to help them... (And encourage them to alternative methods like work-study programs, vocational/technical schools, and community college and other low cost options!) I would have never pulled out loans if I could go back!
Loved the practical advise you shared with us Rachel!
Rachel,
This debt free monologue was epic!!! Beautiful description. *insert tears here* Great Job!
Thank you for this! You made me cry!😢 I love your heart and passion! I can't wait for us to get debt free!
I paid off all my debts, my last one being my car loan, made me lost 40 points on my FICO score. Unreal! It actually severely hurt my FICO score.

Student loans!!!! Are the worst and I regret it so much
Marybel Arcentales ugh same. 66000 to go 20000 paid off. 23 here. It’s terrible. Hopefully by 25 I’ll be debt free.

Medical bills especially emergency room or surgery, since insurance drags their billing and care is not elective
Student loans! I am so grateful for where they got me in my career but the debt is draining.
Check with your loan. Many are forgiven if disabled
Surly putting all dept's together is better in one account
Paid off my car this year, feels so good. No CC debt either.

I’m from Greenville, South Carolina and saw that you included a clip of our downtown 😁😁😁
Car payment was the worst. I was so happy to get rid of it ! I hope to never buy a car on credit ever again.
Taelor Boyce get help from Tony he’s not gonna charge you a dime
Can you add a goal tracker for paying off the mortgage?! 😁
Student loans is that one debt that I strongly hate the most. Mainly because I had a high variable interest rate. I strongly recommend refinancing at a fixed interest rate.

Really good videos Rachel. You’re a pleasure to watch on video and great information. Thank you!
I don’t like school loans. I’m also looking to get life insurance but have to contact Zander’s during business hours it’s 9pm est😴😯🤗

My most hated debt is my grad school loans : >150k!! But it will be gone in 3 years!
Great job
How far are you
My credit card debt makes me so mad! :(
I got my debts cleared by this hacker and got $11,000 extra on my Credit card,+1813 693 2325 that’s his contact..you can text him
The only debt I have is my car I still owe $10,000 on it, i can't wait to get rid of this debt

I love the show but I don't understand the ad for Home Chef. You're telling us to spend money on this at the same time saying save money spend less.
Hi. Am looking to refinance my home and take out money 👍🏾 what’s the important question to expect or should I sell my home
I hate my IRS debt!
I've been watching budget and debt free related videos for several months. In Dec. 2018, I decided to give myself until the end of March '19 to pay off a $1,000 line of credit loan. I made the last pmt. on Fri., Mar.1st! 🙂
Important note: I work part time retail, so my bi-weekly paycheck amounts fluctuate.
I told a friend that I plan to close the loan, and she said that will make my credit score go down. I'm confused on that part, but it will be a good thing for me to not have that temptation. Please advise. Thanks for your ministry.

#1 debt that is the worst here is...credit card!!
STUDENT LOANS! Get out of town by April 2019. You have an eviction notice!
abbyjayne1 I just paid off mine! It was hard but so worth it! You got this!!!! 😘
student loans were the worst, paid it off the beginning if the year! I have my car and house left
Thanks for another great episode Rachel! Also wanted to say that I love your shirt.. it's so fall! 🎃☺️💓
Student Loans! Mines & My Husband's! All are reckless!!
😑😫
Lol! I'd open the app to see it say "paid in full" all the time just to look at it over and over and smile realy big.😄
ALL
I have a tough question to ask? How do you catergorize child support or alimomy as?
I like the decorations.
Smart and cute... well played Mr Cruze, well played.
My credit cards are the debt that I hate the most, but I am working on paying them off.
You have me crying at work!! ahhh yes that is our goal, we will be debt free!!!
Good show!
Thanks again for the great advice
So grateful for this 😁!
The problem is trying to find an extra job.N I suffer from depression and anxiety.. 😞
Elexi McFarlan
What about your mortgage? Why is that an exception when it comes to the baby steps? If they have a mortgage then they're not out of debt...
We're out of debt except for mortgage, working on it next :)
@@1992Charity well said.
The medical debt I shouldn't have. I had insurance but all of my care for blood poisoning was not medically necessary.
Credit card debt!!!😡 I’m making great progress but yeah can’t stand the credit card debt. I have 7k left to go!
Car payment is my biggest headache

I felt as though I got sucker-punched into student loan debt. I didn't have a financial plan and banked on the fact that I had to have a college degree to have a 'good' job. God's Word is true when it says the people perish for a lack of knowledge. If you have a plan mapped out prior to pursuing college, you don't have to put yourself into a financial choke hold.

Student Loans, and my car loan. I can't stand either, it makes me physically feel sick sometimes.
Hate the student loans!
