I bought a Chibson Les Paul Custom for $200 bucks and that included shipping from China! I think it was through Alley Express. It is a purple quilted top and a really good looking ax. In the past 7 years I have replaced the black knobs with Gibson amber top hat knobs and all of the plastic. Still want to replace the pickups but not decided what with.
Some of those ' George St. Pierre ' LP's are cool , it looks like gauze thats been inked , I love the way gauze looks anyway , I can see why he did it that way , I dig the Oak LP you had , love the wood grain ! Thank You Trog for todays feeding !
Lots of knock offs I flag a bunch of them and explain to ebay thay they can't be genuine with a made in America stamp but also be brand new made in China but they say it doesn't violate terms of sevice. Ebay is really grimy and I think they should be held responsible

I'm curious to know their working definition of "copyright" and "trademark" because for most of the rest of the world, it protects the integrity of the original product/brand from crap Chinese copies that are produced strictly to undercut the original.
It erks me to no end. Tons are coming through FB groups and I know were most of them are going to end up. I got no choice but to buy new from a dealer because the used market is going to get crazy over the next few years.
I bought a 57’ futura Chibson recently and I was honestly shocked at how well it plays. Kind of annoying to be honest. I’ve bought a Chibson before, like 5 years ago, and that thing was literal fire wood. Unplayable trash, but this futura was reeeeeally well built. Idk if they’re just getting better at it or what but it’s definitely changed in quality as of recent years.
Please counterfeits have definitely played their part in why I have begun turning my attention to other instruments that are slightly more exotic than traditional Gibson or Fender models. The guitar I took delivery of back in February 2024, a Burns replica of Brian May's guitar, is frankly capable of emulating both makes.

The reason I don't have a problem with Eastman, is because they put Eastman on the headstock. I have Chinese, Japanese and Mexican made guitars. I don't have a problem with foreign made guitars. I hate chibson. The amount of work chibson puts into ripping off gibson. It seems to me they could brand it there own name, and still sell guitars.

was in china over 15 years ago for work. bought a 'rolex' that was too close to the real thing. not like the garbage you used to get in times square. i held it up to the exact model of the same but real rolex and could hardly tell any difference. you have to hold both at the same time in great light to see a very slight difference. also, you could get full sets with bags of top of the line golf clubs that were 'counterfeits'. i was told that those 'fakes' were made at the same factory that made the real ones for companies like calaway during a 3rd shift that technically did not exist. in other words, they were counterfeit while being the same exact clubs as the 'real' ones. for $100 USD, you could get the full set with bag that would cost you over $1000 in the US.
I'm with you there, guitars are guitars. Sometimes its nice to get a nice paint job for a couple grand less. They're epecially fun if you enjoy working on them

Same! They used to take them down right away when I'd report them but the last couple I've tried to get them to remove they wouldn't. It's disgusting.

Chinese copyright and trademark laws differ from those in the us. There is no law forbiding them from making them in China.
