It was produced by ILM, the studio that worked on Star Wars. Some of the best CGI of the day! (And actually of all time in many ways, they worked on Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean 2 which is still some amazing CGI)
Smooth models like this were the easiest to produce. Most programs allowed you to create a low poly model and artificially smooth it. The animation itself is really great as well which is just numbers and data and almost pure skill
i'm loving the idea that Pepsiman is this omnipotent (how he detects when people are thirsty) all-powerful superhero but is a big dork and gets himself hurt all the time

Yeah, but remember what Pepsi ads were in the late 90s and early 2000s... Most of them were Britney Spears hawking Pepsi. Or that one commercial they got sued over where they made a joke that you could get a Harrier Jet if you got an astronomical amount of Pepsi Points and some guy actually did. But generally, most 90s American commercials were all about being edgy and "Extreme"... These aren't that.

I just got why the "anyways" neon sign is above the pepsi can in that "Coke" Truck commercial, and can't believe I didn't catch it earlier. I just got why the "anyways" neon sign is above the pepsi can in that "Coke" Truck commercial, and can't believe I didn't catch it earlier.
The commercial was obviously implying a Coke worker was chasing down Pepsiman. Coke's slogan throughout the 90's was "Always Coca-Cola".
Hence the parody slogan "Anyways Pepsi".
