In Jim's videos regarding alignment he states his "aim" with the club face is 1:00, so for you would be 11:00. Then just swing normal and you should have a baby draw. I also was holding my club face at target and getting more deviant draws/hooks. Once I starting club face at 1:00 it was baby draws and oh so pretty.

I am 71 and have a limitation in my body through a bung in my groin due a bad hernia operation. I play off 25 down from 35 and am a happy golfer as I only play recreational golf. After lessons I still had problems returning to the same place when swinging, causing mis hits etc. After looking at stack and tilt keeping my weight on the front leg made a difference however in stack and tilt I could not tilt without causing bodily pain after playing. I then tried Mo Normans swing but the training got too complicated but it did help and then I discovered Jim Venetos swing and that works for me. I can use his swing with every club Driver, 5 wood, 4 hybrid and 5 iron. Using Jims swing my irons PW-6 always have a high trajectory (apart form the 5 iron) with a 10 yards gap between them. This is great for me from about 140 yards out and I always make the green and the shot does not run out more than a couple of yards. I am not a big hitter but yesterday I made 18 over par! For my driver I use the easy swing as it tends to produce a straighter shot I have tried Jims swing and for the Driver it is less consistent than the easy swing with no gain in distance. So this is what works for me and have found that I have adjusted the swing to suit my individual bodily requirements - All in all Jims Swing is the best and I am happy with better consistent golf play than I've ever had over my 4 years of development. My advice is not to over think this swing as it is all about pre setting the body and when you get that right the swing is automatic and easy - I very rarely get a draw but always get a straight ball flight landing on the fairway or green. OMG this has turned into a book

One major difference in what you are doing and how his school works is that he would not start you out doing full swings. You're doing the same as me. In the overhead cam you're still turning your shoulders. Jim doesn't he only swings the arm. This is how he stays so still. @@GolfQuestChannel Yes, it seems counter-intuitive to NOT rotate your shoulders, which you are doing, so that takes a little time getting use to. I've been through Jim's program and have adapted nicely to the swing change. How I got comfortable with the concept was tons of practice swings with no ball present. It gave me an entirely different feeling at the point where contact would be, again, no ball. I just wanted to engrain the motion (or, stillness, actually) without the stress of a ball. So one thing I’ve been struggling with is my trail hand not being strong enough under the grip and also not enough weight on my lead side (even though it feels like I do). If you want to hit the ball straight, then the JVGA swing is the one for you. As long as your legs and torso stay still while swinging the golf club. You will hit it straight every time. I personally don't use this swing all of the time, just most of the time. For instance with chipping and shorter pitches, l like to stand open, which is the opposite of JVGA,s closed. Another great teacher in the art of hitting the golf ball straight is Todd Graves, who uses the Moe Norman system of the single plane swing. I sometimes use this as well, with the right shoulder tilt back and down to avoid the "over the top" action.

My irons got a bit wonky so i switched back to steel shafts. Irons still were a bit wonky so after watching this vid and reading the comments i focussed on really being set up like Jim says and focussed hard on really being STILL. .BINGO..perfect shots that had a tiny draw right back to the flag. Watch Jim's swing carefully in slow motion if you can and you will see he actually starts his downswing with a small hip thrust forward. When I get the hip moving first, as he does, I find the swing is more accurate. I go back and forth from Jim to Moe Norman. JVA swing does not require great athletic ability or strength. It is simple and just works. I am sure Jim will tell you not to start with a full swing, but to start with his swing path drill and master that drill until you get it right with repeatable results. Then and only then you can graduate to the full swing. I see that he has offered to help you. My advice is to accept that help and then report on the results. Aim the club head against the target, that is a left of the pin (depending on you knowing how much you draw). The legs can aim straight to the target if you like, but your upper body shall be closed. To also close your legs in line with your upper body therefore makes it easier. All you're doing here is tricking yourself into using the club properly without actually knowing what it is that you’re doing. The real solution you seek is to truly understand how the golf club works and how to use it properly and it’s not what everyone thinks. The golf club is like no other tool we know, yet literally everyone assumes they fully understand it, so they try to use it, or make it work like they think it should rather than how it is actually designed to be used. We stand 90º to the target line for a specific reason. If we swung the club toward the target we’d face that way, but we don’t.

So a couple of things here:
      1. Funny I was actually trying to find a video of your's that I watched a long time ago and could not for the life of me remember what your channel was called so I eventually gave up. When I saw your handle "Holy Grail" it clicked. So thanks for posting as it solved that mystery lol.
      2. One thing I would say is incorrect in your post is the following line: "yet literally everyone assumes they fully understand it...." You haven't met me yet :) I actually assume I must be missing something all the time which explains my incessant searching through TH-cam videos.
Thanks for dropping by the channel.

@@GolfQuestChannel The video you're talking about I most likely had to take down from youtube and put on my website. As it turns out youtube implemented an algorithm that tracks the last video/channel that people watch before leaving youtube and quite a few of my videos were inspiring people to get up immediately and go try what I'm talking about so youtube stopped promoting my channel. So, now I mostly just have teaser videos on youtube. As soon as YT implemented that algorithm my subs stopped growing and my views dropped through the floor.
Every golfer like yourself is looking for something but they don't know what it is. They know they're missing something simply because the golf club works so well for some and so poorly for others. The people who've figured it out only know how to do it, and most are unaware of what it is they actually do, so when they tell people to this or that, "that's all I'm doing," it's not actually true, so it never works for the guy trying it. And literally everyone, even the world's most famous instructors, assumes that the almost magical tool we know as a golf club is merely a stick that we hit the ball with.

@@HolyGrailOfGolf I'm all about trying new things, looking at new perspectives, and listening to those who have more knowledge than me (which are plenty btw lol). I do believe that different methods, swing thoughts, and instruction work differently for different people. However, once the suggestion is put out there that everyone (even the world's greatest instructors) approach golf teaching the wrong way I proceed with extreme caution as that is a very large claim to back up. The catch all solution to golf would truly be "The Holy Grail" which, last time I checked, didn't actually exist. Now, don't misunderstand me, I'm not putting your channel down in any way (I haven't done enough digging to even get a sense yet). I will check it out further though.

@@GolfQuestChannel I'll ask you this, if there is no Holy Grail of Golf® then why is everyone looking for it? It does exist and it's incredibly simple. The reason I say not even the best instructors in the world ... is that not one of them has ever talked about the physics of how the golf club works and what direction you need to direct your force in order for it to work properly - None of them! They all seem to think there's some magic dance type move that I call the "snake charmer approach" that if you perform this "dance" the club will magically start working for you. The craziest thing of all is that when you understand the club, literally all the stuff that people advocate suddenly happens naturally and out of necessity rather than intention, so basically they have it all backward.
