The title of of this video should be called "How To Pad Insulate Door Post With One Hand Tied Behind Your Back (Or While Holding A Camcorder In Your Other Hand)". LOL! It's tricky enough using two hands. Nice job, Chris! U da man!
Hey Chris. Sorry that I am 10 years too late noticing this great video. Can you explain how to close up the sheet metal tabs that hold the trim and beading pieces in place? Mine seem to have become loose in places in the 15 years that I last put my interior in my 66 bug. Do you knock them down closed with a hammer or is there a more graceful way to do it? Thanks.
Hi Chris. I know this video is older, but I wanted to know if you’re still using jute for your padding and where you’ve found it. Also, would the fiber moving blankets that U-Haul sells be a similar material? Those blankets are less than $10 and they’re 68” x 85” which I’m thinking would be enough for an entire Beetle. Hope all is well in Florida!!
Hey Chris any advice on how to fully clean the inside of the car before placing carpet and a new headliner? I just ripped out the old headliner and and carpet and now it's all dusty and the metal is dirty. Should I use soap and water? Thanks
Well, this material was similar to what they used in the factory, so really depends on your location. But I have really not seen that moisture would get trapped there. But I also do not use these cars in the cold damp weather, these are fair weather cars for me.
Please tell me what the problem could be with my windshield wipers working only sometimes...obviously the electrical but is it something I can fix myself?

Great informative video, Chris. Your channel continues to help me with my '64 resto/mod bug.

Hey Steve, I have videos on complete headliner installation, and in those videos I show how we bang down the grippers and such.

Still using jute for roof section, I get it from a carpet store locally. U-Haul stuff is fine.

Yeah just vacuum whatever you can, and yeah we rag and soap is fine.
Does the felt material attract moisture during cold weather?

Nice job.
I'm going to do that when It's time to put a headliner back in my '80 rabbit.
Thanks
Chris, where can i find insulation for a 67 bug , ive been looking everywhere
Great tip Chris. I will try it out.
Just picked up the same stuff from Home Depot. It was about 6 bucks a yard.
Please tell me what the problem could be with my windshield wipers working only sometimes...obviously the electrical but is it something I can fix myself?
is it necessary to remove the back windows to install the headliner? Or can the headliner be installed with the windows still in?
all windows need to come out on 68 and later beetles. 67 and earlier, the front windshield can stay in, but the rest must come out.
Thats what I thought. Thanks!
Hey Chris, what color is that dark blue bug in the background? Do you have a color code for it by any chance? Thanks Gus
it's L633 VW Blue
