I remember 40 years ago when my voice teacher, George Shirley, introduced me to this tenor. ( as I remember Mr Shirley was preparing a concert of arias that he would later perform , complete with costume changes….: it was an inspiring series ) . I was amazed that anyone at Rosvaenge ‘s age ( it was a recording of the Danish tenor in his 60s still singing effortlessly one difficult aria one after another during a concert) could ever accomplish such a feat! As I look back maybe my teacher was trying to tell me that it’s never too late to realize ones dreams, “If Rosvaenger could do it, so could I .” And so one day , a few years later , I did.

Vocalmente strapazza i più grandi per armonici, colore ,squillo, corposità, intensità interpretativa per un repertorio spinto drammatico. Peccato che canta sempre in tedesco, in questo caso la pronuncia in italiano è precaria e la performance ne risente, ma vocalmente è fenomenale omogeneo su tutta la gamma, la sua estensione è da brividi non sfigura con i più grandi di sempre, Chapeau
