    For Resolve 18 - this workflow also works. If you are having a resolution issue (your render is not as sharp as the direct output from Insta360 Studio), here is the potential problem and solution: 1. Make sure you have the Paid Studio Version of the Resolve that allows your input above 4K video. 2. Make sure your input file is the highest quality output from Insta360 Studio - 360 Video / 5760 X 2880 / ProRes 422 MOV file. 3. Set your Project Settings to the same resolution as the input file IMPORTANT! So let's say you are making 9 by 16 IG Reel - use 3240 x 5760 as your project settings / timeline settings (Format and Output Taps). Turn on SuperScale and make sure the sharpen and denoise turn to HIGH. Fusion uses your timeline settings as resolution scaling. In the delivery tap, you can set it back to 1080 x 1920 - you just need to make sure output source from your edit tap is the highest resolution as it can be - 3240 x 5760 for 9 by 16. This will make sure your Resolve output has crazy good quality. Again, this might be overkilled but if you want the best output, do that!

However, when I drag the Lua to the Fusion console, a pop-up window says that I need to use the Resolve Studio. I was wondering whether you have encountered this message before? If so, would you be so kind as to let me know how to continue the installation of Reactor, please? Thank you so much!

    Hi Hugh I'm new to all of this just got my X3 and now I learned I need to learn DR to be able to make 360 videos but all the video tutorials I see is about reframing I don't want to reframe or maybe just the beginning of the video I want the viewer to be able to swipe the screen and choose what they want to watch. Now if you're not to busy can you make a video regarding that that a complete DR beginner would understand. I mean I just down loaded DR but have some editing experience as I have some videos on my channel. much appreciated

    Now I have this question: If I need this special plugin „Reframe 360“ in Order to edit videos from a 360 camera (I have a QooCam 8K) in the free version of Davinci Resolve, does this mean that I DON‘T need this plugin, when I use the STUDIO version of Davinci Resolve 18?
    In that case could you tell me HOW I can edit my 360 videos in this great software or where I may find this information?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is actually very easy in Premiere. For Resolve, you will need to use a mask to mask out the middle part and tranform tool to cut out the extra left and right.

    • @codymorgan4534
      @codymorgan4534 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This step is called stitching. You will need a stitch software - Resolve is a editing software. It has Fusion node to help stitch but it is not it for. The software you will need will be Mistika VR or Mistika Boutique.

    Hello Mr. Hou - Great video, very informative. I do have a question for you. I have GoPro Max 360 footage that I tried to edit in DaVinci Resolve Studio 17 (paid version) and the Max .360 file format does not show in DaVinci Resolve 17.
    I have installed the Reactor and KartaVR, but when I try to load the Max .360 videos, it does not show. I do see that when you import the .360 footage, your extension is (.mov). I tried changing the file format to .mov but it did not work.
    How do you import GoPro Max .360 into DaVinci Resolve Studio 17 and edit the files?

    Hugh, what do you think of using the desktop Insta360 to quickly frame (with speed ramping etc) , then exporting ProRes422 to Resolve to polish? Karta is amazing, but the ease of reframing and animating in the desktop app outshines the manual process in Resolve. I get that to reframe you'd have to use the app and export again, but this is actually faster than exporting full res equirectangular and then generating proxies in Resolve for me.
    I've been running tests and am having a hard time finding a big difference in how karta or the 360 apps handle sampling when it comes to 1080 output, but wanted to get your take on the downside of this workflow.

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it totally work. If you are more comfortable with the insta360 studio app - please use it! The quality lost your viewers won't be able to see it. IG and TH-cam compress the final anyway!

      @@hughhou I think my dream workflow would be, being able to use a tablet 360 app with viewfinder to virtually shoot the scene, and then transfer that tracking/reframe data into Resolve/karta when needed for fine adjustments in the spline and keyframe panels. I have to believe this is coming someday ;)

  • @RodrigoeBeta
    @RodrigoeBeta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How are you dealing with quality loss? My videos are looking awful, very pixelated. I've tried using Reframe360XL and it's way better for animating keyframes since it's OpenFX based and not Fusion, so you can view keyframes in the timeline. However it suffers from the same problem: Bilinear filtering is too low when adjusting field of view.

But what is the purpose or reason or difference in quality, if you export in 4K? or export in 1080p? then you could also import a 4K file from the Max? So the real question.......what is the benefit (and real visual comparison) between the 5.7K vs 4K? This also because after export you either watch your result on a 4K monitor, or 4K TV.....

    Hi, thank you for your in depth videos!
    I followed up all the steps in your tutorial but can see a line in the exported video from DaVinci. I loaded the footage of the Insta 360 One R into the Insta 360 software to stitch it. The exported video has no stitch line. Then I imported it into DaVinci Resolve, set the timeline to 5.7K and 'stretch to all corners' and drop the KartaVR/Viewer/kvrReframe360Ultra effect on my video. I adjust it so its not fish eye and export it. The exported video has a very visible line going through it, which looks as DaVinci only exported 180° of the camera and stitched that together. Do you have an idea what could be the problem?
