  • How is it that our family members are both scientific and superstitious? Do we just write it off as our elders being outdated? Or are these actually traditions rooted deeper in our cultural history? In this episode, we explore this all, and we’d LOVE to know what you think about Filipino superstitions! #FAHM #Superstitions #FilipinoCulture #BreakingTheTabo

Awesome stuff. In large part I agree we can look at holistic treatments without throwing out over the counter prescriptions. I put down my thoughts on faith and reason in my video response. Cheers! PS I notice y'll haven't been posting every Saturday for October so I hope all is well.

I am actually amazed how far have we progressed as a society, while at the same time we can still found remnants of our past as it is interlaced with our modern beliefs

No to superstitions. Lets evolve forward not backwards. There is no way that you are scientific and superstitious at the same time. its like being an atheist priest. Most scientific countries are very progressive, just look at japan and norway. It holds us back.

It really doesn't need to be mystical, my god. It's ginger tea, made from ginger. People will call an article about the health benefits of ginger in a health magazine science, but once it's transformed into an ethnic food widely believed to be healthy, it becomes a superstition or mystic belief of the babaylan? And mind you, traditional Filipino medicine exists, but why is acupuncture considered as alternative medicine but things like hilot, with its clear overlap with the framework of acupuncture, considered superstitious or magic?
