  • Come along on our Mediterranean Backyard Makeover / Renovation, perfect for small spaces and small yards like the one we have!
Welcome to Nest & Nature! We are proud to show you how we made the best of what little space our yard has as we turn it into our little piece of paradise. We're excited to share this with you because of how much we thought out the planning, planting, and paving!
We hope you all enjoy this adventure as much as we did!

It looks Amazing...and Great idea to brick the whole yard. I have never seen 100% of a backyard bricked out....

Gosh, I hope you're still monitoring. Love the concept. I'm trying to do something similar with a desert contempo approach. Have you done a follow up a year later, would like to see how big that Apricot tree is, now. I'm thinking instead of a Pomegranate tree (bush), and keep it bushie. You've captured the feel of the outdoor dining. I have a friend in rural France, he has this al fresco dining area I want to recreate in the hot desert. In my case, I will use a couple of shade sails. The string lighting, well done.

Hi Kevin! Thank you so much for your kind comment. I unfortunately do not have a follow-up as we moved but last I checked the tree was thriving! A pomegranate bush is a fantastic idea! That is definitely something I would like to grow next. Some structural rocks would be nice for your contempo approach. A fountain would be great too! Something we wanted to add but didn't have a chance to. Desert sage and ocotillo would be nice plant choices! :)

They actually seem to be building houses wherever you are. Super small backyards like most modern homes, but you made it look nice. I'm in L.A. and they don't build here.

A great backyard makeover. Question why didn’t you choose more flowering plants?

Hi Rianna! Great question- We did actually do a few flowering plants more as ground cover. However, we really fell in love with the Silver Sheen and how it moves and glistens in the wind. We get a lot of wind in our area! I do plan on adding some lavender to the yard though! If you have any recommendations let us know! :)
