Bushcraft Camping In Rain - Permanent Shelter Building - Chicken Cooked in Mud

  • I spent two days Bushcraft Camping at the permanent shelter to finalize the last bit of rooftop work. It took so long since we built on private land and hence finding the wood was a bit tricky. For the first time we cooked clay/mud oven chicken - an extremely tasty primitive recipe. We first wrapped the chicken in burdock leaves to kept all the flavors inside then we put it in a clay cover, similar to a small clay oven but more primitive. As it cooked the clay hardened and created a perfect cooking pot for the juicy chicken inside. Right after the sunset it started raining and it didn't stop until we left. It made filming very hard although gave us the joy of listening to the rainfall sound from our newly finished shelter. The rain came as a spring blessing to our newly finished shelter and was a great way to test its functionality. The long, torrential summer rain also brought along a stream of fresh air and the feeling of new beginnings. The floods and continuous rain kept us blocked at the shelter for 5 hours.

Camping in the rain, the hardest mission. You did great, the campfire looks great, the idea with the chicken in the mud is new, you did the roof of the shelter. Congratulations!

Multumesc Marta ! Daa, e grozav sa ai ceva legume pe langa adapost. Frunzele cu care am invelit puiul sunt de brusture .

This is true. I was afraid it would burn and I chose to put aluminum foil. Next time I will cook without. Thank you !
