  • Hi, in today's tea break fix we have a DECT cordless phone where the segments on the LCD display have vanished. Watch it come back to life.
    Many thanks, Vince :-)

Great idea for a series. I'm a big fan of repair channels, but usually don't have to time to watch anything over 30 minutes, so these are great. Thank you!

If your looking for greater revenue, merch is the way to go. Not just there in GB, but you can even have a shipping point from the US to lessen cost. Plenty of vendors, there’s one here in the city (Knoxville, Tennessee) where I live. I know the IT guy there. Love the channel, long and short videos.

Vince I appreciate that you are trying new stuff in your videos but I love your regular "trying to fix" videos. I love that even if you don't have success you still keep us along for the ride either way. Maybe you could do a mix of both. And someone before mentioned this and I'll second it. Start a Patreon! Loads of us want to support you and enjoy your videos. Please keep up with great job you do. Cheers from the states!(Michigan)👍

    Hi Vince,
may i suggest another thing you could do on your channel?
Well basically it is the same, but different.
How to videos, but for more crafty/freaky things, maybe going into a more technical/electrical detail.
    i.e.
Transform an old PS2 (or something else) into a mobile console.
Install DOSBOX on a Nintendo Wii to play retro DOS games.
Convert a NES gamepad to work with a Commodore C64.
Or some DIY electronics, like a digital wall clock, maybe putting it into the case of something broken so it looks fancy and special.
Add an "Audio in" headphone jack to a car radio which does not have one.
Remove old speakers from a car and put them into wooden frames so you can use them with another device in the house.
Convert an old CAR radio to work on a power supply in the house and attach an antenna to it.
You could maybe add videos with a mindset of asking "Can you do it? - Instead of - Should you do it?"
"Does it make sense or have any practical application? Maybe not. Is it fun to make and fun to watch or does it look fancy? Heck yeah."

Since you are doing shorter videos now, consider investing in studio lights and microscope camera if doing microsoldering. Brighter picture means more information to the viewer and allows you edit down the video to shorter lengths with optional voice over since the audience can pause the video.

    Absolutely love your channel!
I have a semi new multimeter (cheap stock), whom suddenly got a bad display.
I deduce from your content; duo to me recklessly leaving it in direct sunlight; the heat have caused the adhesive of the cord to loosen.
    Hopefully a simple fix.

This is why I hate the adhesive method of connecting the LCD to the tracks of the PCB (known as hot bar method). Those tend to fail over time when the adhesive wears out. I prefer using all zebra strips instead.

May as well post here, I have a 22 year old lcd alarm clock, still works great but one tiny part of the display has a missing piece so a 8 misses i of the 7 lines, strangely now and again it works and when it does it lasts for a few days, I did take the screws out and wipe down the circuit with 99% IPA but it didn't fix it, I was thinking of rubbing a barely warm solder iron over the cable like what fixes a Game Boy lcd, but not sure if that would work.
