As a small possible - I thought my gearbox had gone had a replacement on standby (years ago), committed to the swap after a loss of drive turned out the driveshaft sleeve cant remember which side. the splines had stripped away, I could have got away with a new driveshaft only (think it was drivers side?). Hopefully worst case clutch.
Sounds like it might be the best of a bad situation if it's only the clutch. When I saw the title I thought the engine had definitely blown up as often happens with turbo 1*2s. If it was the gearbox I think you'd have heard bad things when it went. Can you check if it rolls freely when it's in gear (like it's out of gear when you push it), and if trying to set off in 5th or something stalls it?
Yeah hopefully not too bad but we will see. Ordered uprated clutch ready to go on. I get what you mean about pushing it in gear to see if it roles freely (like it’s not in gear. But what would this prove? Thanks 👍🏻
@@jwmeale3058 I’m not a mechanic so my advice is probably rubbish, but just to see if it feels like it’s spinning gears inside the box. Was thinking it could be the main output of the box or something, but again I think that’d have gone bang when it went
I don't think this is the clutch, put any gear and press gas pedal , if the cluster sees increase in the speed ( i understand that car will never move ). if this is the case, then remove the drive shaft from the passenger side and there is a clip inside the gearbox which can be accessed when you remove the drive shaft and you will find it even popped out or broken and you can swap it from any JB3/5 gearboxes, Job done.

Ah okay that’s interesting. I have got a new uprated clutch on the way now. Will try check out the driveshafts when it’s on the ramp.

told you to upgrade clutch ...get a solid disc 5 puck clutch like i have..
I understood the risk of the standard one staying in. Just the way it is. Lasted over a year 😉😂 I’ve been advised solid disk is abit OTT for road use?

Okay well I will check this tomorrow but I tested it would go into gear. And did accelerate at the time and only the revs moved!
