Sand Master on the sand! Does it live up to its name? 🏝️ (Unplanned running video!)

- I was passing by the beach today when I remembered I had the Sand Master and a couple of half charged nimh packs in the back of the car. Perfect opportunity to see if the Sand Master lives up to its name!
As this was unplanned, I used the only camera I had (iPhone). The quality isn't great and the location isn't either. But it gives you an idea of what an (almost) stock Sand Master can do on the sand. I'm really liking this buggy. It has its issues, but for the money it's a lot of fun.
At some point this year I plan to head to a better beach for a photoshoot and filming session with several buggies. But until then, enjoy! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
mt. fuji!!! so awesome kai
It did well out there and I love seeing the rooster tails of sand off the rear tires!! Nice run with David and I was not expected the full sized truck to come rolling out on the beach at the end!
Me neither! It's unusual to see vehicles on the beach around here, but there were quite a few playing in the sand! The Suzuki Jimmy at the end is the better part of 50 years old, so that was quite a surprise! 😮
The Sand Master did pretty well, even on the deeper dunes further in land. The more I run it, the more I'm liking it! 👍
Absolutely love your cinematic RC car videos. And you always pick really unique models make them about appreciate all the hard work you do CHEERS from KENTUCKY U.S ❤😀
Thanks! 😊 I didn't have any of my filming gear with me, and the nimh batteries I'd left in the car were also almost empty too. But I couldn't resist shooting a little footage with the phone. I'll definitely be returning to a golden sands beach this year for a proper video shoot. 👍
Great fun one man. Keep it going.❤
I am having a great time with mine I put Paddles on it really does great in rhe sand
I might have to look into fitting paddles to mine. I definitely want to run it at the beach again. The Sand Master is one of those RC’s that is way more fun than the sum of its parts! 👍😊
Hehe, it's like a little puppy that finally got to go out and play! Nice!
Not the greatest of beaches for a beach run - lots of pebbles, rocks, coarse black sand and debris. But it was fun to drive! 😊
@@KaiCityRC Yeah I can see it's pretty deep at some points. I had a good run with the 2002 Impreza today. Video loading now if you'd like to check it out 👍
One popular kit right now. Great video.
Thanks 👍
Beautiful beach! It looks a bit volcanic with the dark sand mixed in.
Yes, that stretch of coastline south of Mt. Fuji has many black sand beaches due to the volcanic rock sources.
Nice run on the beach. The modifications you did looked like they worked well
Thanks 👍 It's a lot quieter now, that's for sure!
The opening mt Fuji shot was amazing, to see an original Suzuki SJ on the beach too ( I hear Japanese vehicle inspection rules for older cars are insanely expensive?), excellent work!!
Not usually. I owned a JA11 Jimmy for some time and that wasn't expensive to pass the inspection tests. My good friend recently had the inspection done on his 40 series Land Cruiser and that was pretty cheap too. Most of the expense comes from replacing parts and other maintenance.
@@KaiCityRC I only believe this from the Japanese grey import bike industry ( mostly from the 90’s) over here in England, all the vehicles that were over 5 ish years old got shipped over, I do appreciate that you are on the ground so to speak, but it was a huge thing.
@@Qthewingedserpent Over here shaken (MOT) is more frequent for older vehicles and the mandatory taxes included in the vehicle inspection also rise with age. This is a bit of a sweeping generalization, but a lot of people choose to get rid of an "older" bike or car simply because they want something newer, they don't want to pay for the inspection fees at all (new vehicles are exempt for the first 3 years) or because they may have to pay additional maintenance costs on an older vehicle. Car batteries in particular can be expensive!.
For newer/low mileage cars the inspection fee would basically be compulsory taxes, test fees and regular maintenance items like oils, wiper blades etc. Older cars/bikes might need some more money spent on them. My 2019 Honda 400x didn't need anything extra for its last MOT. Nor did my wife's 2009 Hiilux.
You can save some money by taking your car/bike to the test centre yourself, rather than pay a dealer/garage to do it for you.
Great video. Unfortunately you can't polish a turd, only roll it in glitter. Kyosho need to address the major issues with this buggy
I didn't know mount Fuji was close to the ocean.
At a guess I think it's about 20km from the coast, so about 12 miles or so.
wonderful execution on the beach! I love this cart! Did sand get into the spur or pinion or internal gears? greetings❤😊😊😊🎉
None! 👍 I applied a thick "gasket" of (automotive) grease around the cover to act as a seal and it worked perfectly. The pinion/spur were free from sand. I haven't pulled the gearbox apart, but I always use the same trick when assembling the gearbox halves, so I suspect it will be fine. Sand managed to get everywhere else, however! The Super Stock motor was protected somewhat about a foam cover supplied with the motor.
But to be honest, I don't really mind. The whole reason for getting the Sand Master was for it to be something I could run in these types of environments and not feel the need to strip the car down and clean every component afterwards. I brushed off all the excess sand, used an air compressor to clear as much off as possible and that's pretty much it.
@@KaiCityRC thanks for the detailed input my friend :) Greetings from mexico
Loved seeing it chase the ‘jeep’ at the end! Did it catch it? 😉
Catch it? The Sand Master turned into the Sand Blaster and blew by that little jeep...😁😂
Had a few of these and with a few little tweaks they are pretty good and fun! Looked fun out there mate!
For what they cost, they are a lot of fun! Far from perfect, but fun nevertheless. 👍
@KaiCityRC Yep that's the nail on the head with this buggy!
Great Video! Careful, initial Mt. Fuji shot can be stolen from Kyosho.... : ) is that good! :) By the way could you find a different spur that fits or is still the wobbly original one?
Thanks! For a handheld iPhone shot on an extremely windy beach, I was surprised it turned out well. 😁
I've not found any other spurs that will work with the Sand Master. I've stocked up on three spares just in case. The wobble seems to come from two sources. The spur and the shaft it mounts to. It's only subtle and setting the backlash properly seems to have helped. I was worried about stripping the spur, but after 4 or 5 runs with a 23T super stock motor it's holding up fine.
@@KaiCityRC thank you. which metal gear diff oil you put in? And what weight oil you think you used for the rear shocks? Thank you
@@ioskaioska5166 I actually used some really thick bicycle grease from Shimano! 😁 (The diff doesn't have a gasket)
