The Unexpected Truth Behind The Sega Mark III

  • The Sega Mark III was released in Japan in October 1985 at a price of ¥15,000. Though its hardware was more powerful than the Famicom, the Mark III was not successful on launch. Problems arose from Nintendo's licensing practices with third-party developers, whereby Nintendo required that games for the Famicom not be published on other consoles. Sega developed its own games and obtained the rights to port games from other developers, but they did not sell well. #Sega #SegaMarkIII #Consoles

This thing is oozing with 80s Japanese vibe. Very reminiscent of the Family Computer but looks cooler.

Here in Brazil the Master System was so popular , it was a huge hit. It was so popular that even in the x360 era the company was still producing licensed clones and selling a lot

Yeah you guys got the Master System III! How about the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis did it last long there too in Brazil?

@@JolliAllGenGamer yes the Genesis was called Mega Drive here, it was also super popular during the 90s. The distributor here ( Tectoy ) still make mega drive to this day ( of course it is not the original hardware anymore)

@@parallax8207 You serious? Wow, Brazil really loves Sega! Hmm now I'm wondering too if the Saturn and Dreamcast I'm assuming did well there too.

I remember a Mailbag in GamePro saying there was no Japanese version of the SMS. Show's how much they know.

RGB in 1985!!!! That is insane! I couldn’t believe it, at first but according to wikipedia the “ Model 1s with an AV port can also output composite and even RGB video”. In this year Atari was still on RF, and we were lucky to find a NES with composite in Europe. CRT’s with RGB were extremely rare in that year, i have to ask RetrotechUSA on this one.

Nice to know the original Master System. It was my first video game console ever. I was so young I barely could play at all, lol. Games were so difficult. But I loved the light gun games, and the Sonic games.

I would surely clean that IPA alcohol or wait a bit before inserting, you can kill your system like that. When the alcohol is 99% instead 99.9%, it can still be conductive. I cleaned a smartphone like that, and it died.

WOOOW. That is the most bright white Sega Mark III i ever seen! They all turned yellow! 😂 I own a Japanese SMS. No worries about yellowed plastic plus i wouldn't have to pay a fortune for the FM sound module. Oh yeah i can use 3D glasses without hunting down a Japanese compatible adapter another thing that costs a fortune!

Thanks for watching! I am going to eventually get to the master system video sometime in the next few weeks because I’m still reviewing consoles in 1986 next
