Here is another great look-back at 1956 through a Fuller Brush Catalog! This is kind of special as my husband's grandfather (or maybe it was a great-uncle...) was a full-time Fuller Brush salesman - and raised his family on that door-to-door job.
It isn't often that we see full-time door-to-door salespeople anymore. Kind of sad in a way.

These videos definitely give comfort and peace. I just wanted to share some of my happy news with you. We celebrated my husband's birthday this past weekend. I know that seems silly to be so happy about but when he was diagnosed with his cancer last June, his prognosis was 6-12 months even with treatment. His team of doctors gave us the statistics but also told us not to focus on the timeline because plenty of people make it past that and he did! He is doing very well right now and has beat that 1 year mark. It is a very bright spot after a hard year. I've told you before but your videos have gotten me through a lot of sleepless nights so thank you for that. I hope you continue to rest and recover from your sickness. Thank you for all you do!❤❤❤

I get it Jeannie. I was always the one moving mountains and making sure all the events and holidays happened. Then, I would collapse. Every year, I was sick for New Years. Go figure. Yes, I remember inviting salespeople in when I first started out on my own, late 70s and early 80s. Couldn't afford some of that stuff, cookware, vacuum cleaners and such but I ordered more magazines than I could read!

I’m too young to remember fuller brush salesmen. (Definitely lots of rainbow vacuums!). But I vividly remember using a fuller brush at my grandmothers house. I always wondered why she liked it so much. Now I’m an adult with messy kids, I get it 😂. What a trip down memory lane

Maybe not door to door sales people as such but i remember my mum & her friends taking turns to have like sales parties....Tupperware, Pippa Dee & Oriflame are ones i remember from childhood

This was a wonderful walk down nostalgia lane. I remember the same as you- Fuller Brush man had only brushes in his case. I was pretty young so maybe I just don’t recall the rest. Avon, Fuller and we had a man come to the house several times a year with greeting cards! My mom would buy a box each of Get Well cards, Birthday cards and many boxes of Christmas cards along with holiday wrapping paper. You are so lovely to listen to and I hope you feel better soon. My grandpa was a traveling salesman. It is so interesting that now when we hear the doorbell we/I go into a panic. Growing up even 30 years ago we’d always open the door.

this was so fun. we had a fuller brush man for years. they used to make this body lotion called simply, "witch hazel lotion". it was a light blue color and smelled nothing like witch hazel. it had the most beautiful soft clean smell that would stay on your body for hours. In my mind I can smell it now. good memories.

I have a Fuller Brush clothes brush my mother purchased from our “Fuller Brush Man” sometime in the late ‘50’s or early ‘60’s

I remember here in Germany, we had guys selling hoovers and lexicons at the door. And that I caught my mum with one of those guys 😂 (she was a single mum, so I just hope she had fun 😂)

Hi Jeannie!! Thank you for your videos I don’t always comment but wanted to say I appreciate your relaxing asmr videos. Especially the flipping through mags. And I’m in my early 40’s and I do briefly remember in the 80’s door to door salesmen whether it be vacuum cleaners or the Jehovah witnesses coming in our house. And I do remember the Avon Catalogs in the 90’s😂 loved to peruse them and order stuff. Much love take care get better.❤😊

Jeannie - I really enjoy looking back on these retro items as well ~ it's so nostalgic! I was born in the mid-60's, so my most vivid memories come alive in the 70's and it was such a different time and I love looking back on things I both remember and have forgotten, but you remind me. I remember my parents buying a KIRBY vacuum from a door to door sales men in the 90’s. I think they may have told them it was ok to come by and we used that vacuum for years and it was crazy heavy. But it cleaned. I don’t think it ever stopped working they just got rid of carpet and went with hardwood floors.
Same here - my parents bought one. Weighed 10,000 pounds! 🤣

My father was selling pans door to door and my mother was selling underwear for children (about 1976). It was so interesting going with her to people to get some order. But my father was also working as a bricklayer and he used to repair electric devices for private people and so we got some little more earning for the family...I love to remember this time....

Really enjoyed the video - one of the first times I inadvertently experienced ASMR as an adult was listening to a Margaret Atwood audiobook, where the fictional narrator was remembering her childhood in the 50s, sitting on the floor with her friends looking at catalogues - and this really reminded me of it! ❤
