- Today, Investigation Discovery, the leading true crime network, announced QUIET ON SET: THE DARK SIDE OF KIDS TV, a four-part docuseries that uncovers the toxic and dangerous culture behind some of the most iconic children’s shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s. QUIET ON SET pulls back the curtain on an empire, built by creator Dan Schneider, that had an undeniable grip on popular culture. Series such as All That and The Amanda Show, among others, were obsessively consumed by children across the country and defined comedy for a generation. But behind the upbeat onscreen presence on these shows with questionable jokes and over-the-top sketches, QUIET ON SET reveals an insidious environment rife with allegations of abuse, sexism, racism, and inappropriate dynamics with its underage stars and crew.
QUIET ON SET features Former All That cast members Giovonnie Samuels, Kyle Sullivan, Bryan Hearne, and Katrina Johnson and director Virgil Fabian, Writers Jenny Kilgen and Christy Stratton expose allegations of a toxic and sexist environment in The Amanda Show writer’s room. Alexa Nikolas offers insight into being a part of Zoey 101. QUIET ON SET will feature additional cast and crew from iCarly, Sam & Cat, Victorious, and other iconic series such as Marc Summers from the popular game show Double Dare.
QUIET ON SET: THE DARK SIDE OF KIDS TV will premiere across two nights on ID from 9PM-11PM ET/PT on Sunday, March 17 and Monday, March 18.

Everytime I think of Dan Schneider, I always remember that clip of Elizabeth Gilles (Jade West from Victorious) and Ariana Grande (Cat Valentine from Victorious) where Schneider is approaching them and Elizabeth gets this look of pure fear, and pulls Ariana's skirt lower so it covers more of her legs. Like, that's so horrifying to think about, especially since Victorious ran from 2010 to 2013, so both Elizabeth and Ariana would have been 20 at best, 17 at worst. Like, there should never have been any fear in those girls eyes. I hate to think about all the other poor child actors who were afraid of that monster.
And Avan Jogia (Beck Oliver on Victorious) who says Schneider would often force the actors, who were not of drinking age in America at the time, to engage in drinking with him almost daily.
Like, what the fuck.

Extraordinary documentary. I super recommend it. So sad the suffering Drake Bell went through! Parents need to wake up. There's no such a thing as child star, it's child for sale!
Onr of the things that ticks me off about the Bell's story is how the dad saw the signs, said something about it to someone, and ended up being manipulatively ostracized, lied about by Brian Peck, fired by his son before Peck ended of taking advantage of a 15 yr old Drake Bell.

I think it was the 1990s when the public broadly became aware that kids and teens were mistreated in Hollywood, specifically with what happened to the actors on "Diff'rent Strokes" -- but it didn't start or end there. Maybe Nickelodeon and Schneider were the next generation of that, but a lot of the accusations I've read weren't about abuse off-camera; rather it was about what was _broadcast_, so that certainly wasn't hidden.

Nothing has changed do you see history repeats itsef! I have seen it happen with the two coreys with the singers of the monkees all the boy bands. What the managers do is use there money for the tours and hotels and such and then when its all over the money is not even there!

He was sentenced to 5 years in early 2023 im pretty sure. He was charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of minors, harassment and assault
He tried to plead not guilty but ended up pleading guilty so he could get a reduced sentence

It’s not supposed to make you feel good. You’re supposed to be upset, you’re supposed to be uncomfortable- you’re supposed to be angry. These people we watched for years on years were being treated horribly, and we had no idea. Now they had the courage to speak out on what happened to them.
