Which is quickest - a Porsche Panamera Turbo S, or a BMW M5 CS? Well, it’s time to find out!
First off, let’s see how these two beasts compare. Starting with the M5 CS, it’s powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can put down 635hp and 750Nm of torque. As you’d expect, it powers all four wheels and it tips the scales at 1,825kg. All that power doesn’t come cheap, though - it’ll set you back around £141,000!
Next up we have the Porsche. It’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that’s good for 630hp and 820Nm of torque. It’s heavier than the BMW, though, at 2,080kg. However, it’s also ever so slightly cheaper, at around £140,000.
So the Porsche is down on power and up on weight, so it’ll be an easy win for the BMW, right? Well don’t forget that Porsches launch SO well! Either way, there’s only one way to find out what’ll happen… LET’S RACE!

The drag races are meant to simulate stoplight digs because there's no way you're keeping a 630 horsepower car floored for a half mile one of two things would happen you'll get arrested or you'll die

It would be a great addition to the videos. With such a powerful cars, there’s so much more to be seen beyond the 1/4mile run only.
As a BMW fan I am in love with the M5 CS but the Panamera Turbo S is crazy fast for that weight.

Why don't they put it against the Panamera Turbo S Hybrid? I guess it wouldn't even be a race as the Porsche would just stomp it

From an AMG fan, M5 CS is the governor of this segment, nothing much in it. Turbo S is an amazing car also , and did very well.
It’s just a shame the bmw looks kinda shit, but its damn fast.

its all because of old fact - first M5(e28) set benchmark in whole class of supersaloons (e28 literally created created this class), it was best then, and it's still the best one.

audi could never post a challenge in the performance department, no chance they can do it now.
I believe they won’t do it even if they could. The M5 CS is top of the line Porsche territory. They always leave the most hardcore version for Porsche and Lamborghini. That’s why the R8 performance only gets slightly more power, the Lambo gets the Performante

Absolutely true. The Panamera can be used as a real everyday car. The regular M5 can be the same but CS' ride is just too harsh for daily use.
@@msun8423 I dunno.. The CS rides rather firm, but better than the Nissan GTR and I ride that thing almost daily. The Panamera is a little too low slung for me; I prefer the slightly higher seating position, and of course the ability to carry 5 people in the car. Leave one of my kids home alone, and we're good to go on holiday 😊 Overall the M5 is just more practical for me. The admittedly mite harsh ride over non-smooth roads is forgiven for the sheer scare+enjoyment of the M5 engine.

For the rolling race, I think the BMW has on both tests (comfy and sport settings) the gearbox reaction speed set to the max (visible on the right of the actual gear selected)

Well all that added comfort, sound insulation, ventilated seats, 3 chamber suspension, my money would be on porsche all day any day, handled surprisingly well, was expecting porsche to be hammered by m5cs, but actually is the only stock car in segment (Rs7,rs6,e63s..) that can at least match m5cs....
It is also a full segment higher than the 5er. It is comparable to the 7er and the S class. It sits on the Continental GT platform so that is saying something. The M5 CS is still an incredible car.

In years past I probably would've taken the BMW but the Panamera has really grown on me. Having sat in both (M5 Comp not CS but close enough) the Porsche just feels higher quality. And it's basically just as fast.

I've seen the Panamera turbo struggle against a regular M5, either Matt is showing his age and forgotten to switch to sport or Porsche begged you to not make them look bad. Lol. A Porsche is a Porsche but the only one that matters is the 911. Everything else is just for variety or sales.

O M5 CS é um bom representante do que a BMW era passado, carro para quem gosta da experiência de dirigir. Dá pra ver pelo estilo do carro, bem BMW. Os novos me parecem que são feitos pra agradar investidor que não tem interesse na marca, só no retorno de investimento, e acha que vai conseguir isso seguindo tendências.
@@bluethingy120 cara, concordo plenamente contigo. O M5 mantém aquele espírito BMW de ser. Talvez por isso a BMW modifique pouco no design dessa série. A única a mudar esse curso foi a série 5 E60 do famoso Christopher Edward Bangle, onde a ousadia tomou conta da BMW. Aquele V10 era sublime! As novas M4 e M3, adicionaram um peso desnecessário, ficaram mais pesadas que a geração anterior, algo inadmissível. Acho que a BMW precisa reduzir o peso desses novos M. A M5 normal apanhou da maioria dos rivais. A CS foi que mudou a história, justamente por ser mais leve. O que achas da XM?
